Anya Forger (+ the new ChimikkoDD)

Seeing her price...Sadly Anya will be a skip for me. The body is really cute but the smaller a doll is, the less interested I am personally. And I wanted her with a happier expression...However, I will still buy her casual outfit and make my own custom Anya next year I think. 😂

Oh, her proportions are ADORABLE! I really hope that by "base body" they mean it'll be a standard body option like MDD, DDP, etc.

I wonder how some of the older heads like DDH-01 would look like on this body...

But at the same time, some details about the chomikko are also up. and the height is 36,5cm, and its modestly pear shaped... although at the same time I feel the need to take a tape measure to my MDD's and confirm the 46,5cm height for that. or did the V2 body get a stretch.

my impressions on anya:

Painted mouth, and the shinenigans with the eyeliner paintwork continue... although almost tolerable this time, the jury is still out with this.

The standard outfit seems a solid effort, with the vertical lines so far being embroydered, although im not sure about the longevity of the embossed (assumed) pleather sleeve ends, and hemline.

The alternative outfit isnt much to talk about, but you do get a chimera plush, so completionists will get that just for that.

Payment either in a 50/50 split, or all up front which is a nice choise to have currently.

Ohhh so cute!! I love it! It's interesting that Chimiko uses MDD hands & feet, and maybe can wear some MDD clothes too? I'm not terribly fussed on Anya herself, I mean she's cute enough - but absolutely want two of those bodies!

Oh this is SO EXCITING!! A the two payment option is a nice break on the ol’ wallet (have the new Kinokojuice doll coming next month too).

An it looks like the head isn’t a “new” size so you can still use other Dolfie heads maybe 🤔 which if that’s the case plus the body being a new body available my Dolfie collection just might explode from my two custom boys to at least 3-4 others plus this new Anya 😅😅

I really like the show, but really didn’t have an interest in having her as a doll, but I really like the new size so I may order her. Not sure how well splitting the clothes would be if it’s a new size that doesn’t exist. 🤣 and it’s nice of Volks to offer split payment as well. Lol how does that work half now and half when? The pic of the mdd looks taller and thinner than the current MDD’s doesn’t it?

I'll probably get her repainted eventually but she's adorable and I really like the new body.
I hope it'll end up in dream choice etc eventually.

I wonder if the painted mouth was done with an eye towards people having her repainted with a favorite expression. 

I'm also noting the chubby legs reminiscent of Mochi Ashi, so maybe this new body fills that niche too. 

Seeing the new body type, I'm very suspicious we're going to get a limited Klee doll in the future. There's no way Genshin Impact isn't on Volks' radar and the proportions are perfect for her

I was considering getting her to go with Yor but can’t justify that price sadly. Is that really the norm for this size? Originally I expected (and hoped) her to be Yo size so around the 40000 yen range but even with the larger size, only 6000 yen cheaper than Yor seems absurd to me given the size difference. 

If the body was exclusive for Anya then I’d understand from an R&D cost perspective but it’s looking like it may be a more regular body.

I had been waffling on Anya, but I think my funds are going to get eaten by the Miku Expo concert instead, lol. Hopefully we'll see more of the Chimikko-DD on other dolls! . .. but hopefully not Paimon from Genshin, because I've already started my own Yo-SD size Tinyfox Paimon and if we get an official Paimon I will be Upset.

One thing to note is that the current DD base bodies are near enough the same in price, so I expect the base Chimikko body to be around or above 30k yen in price. the 68k is on the high side so there probably is some Anya-tax in there, although not absurdly so compared to for instance Rena's price with some inflation.

There are a lot more molds and mechanical assembly to deal with a vinyl doll, so comparing pricing with resins is a bit difficult in my oppinnion.

Also to temper some expectations. if I recall correct off the shelf DDP base bodies only came around the delivery of Iori and Yaoi? ... and if im not mistaken Iori and Yaoi remain the only DDP series-collab dolls so far. So its an interesting body, but the lead time to getting one might be longer than what it was with the MDD2.0 ... but I could be wrong (wouldnt be the first time)

Think so, but I can’t recall if they were Dream Choice limited until the DD/ DDS bodies dropped around Saber Jeanne & Altria. 
 

They haven’t done any other collabs with DDP.

But I wouldnt be surprised if there was a D'Coord limited lottery chimikko near the end of the year. and obviously be a in store dream choice / D'Coord thing before more general availability.

Agreed.

I could be misremembering the Dream choice part. I am pretty sure the general release of all 5 bodies plus parts was done at the same time, there was a big spread on the body details and parts compatibility, but I can't recall for sure if you could DDP through Dream Choice before that. It was right around the re-release of Blue Saber.

For certain, Dream Choice isn't a reasonable way to get a headless body to play with. 

I'm on the fence a bit. I wish she had a more happy expression but otherwise I adore her (just have to accept the past-the-eye-shape eyeliner thing people are doing now, lasigh). But with the conversion rate being what it is, I'm sorely tempted.

Jumping into this thread a bit late.

Personally, I'm happy with this Chimiko body size. She looks really cute next to Yor in the sample photos and is similar proportionally to the OC.

the price though.... it's really steep and the delivery time is pretty far out. It's hard to commit to a doll when the delivery about a year out. The two payment setup is nice. Thankfully, it seems like you can change your address if you move.

I'm honestly really on the fence about this one. On the one hand, she's super cute and I like the size (compared to the speculated Yo sizing), but on the other hand, she's quite expensive. I know with a lot of these limited and/or collab models that they become incredibly expensive trying to buy second-hand, so the best time for me to buy would be now.

 I guess I'll see how I feel when she goes up for pre-order. I really want Miku NT whenever she comes out and I'm just hoping their releases are spaced out for the sake of my wallet.

Although we can't know for sure, usually the Magical Mirai announcements are a year ahead of the physical release. If she was going to be Christmas Dolpa we'd probably have photos of the doll and not a promo drawing. 

That said, Volks can surprise people, so she could end up as the  Christmas Dolpa release, or she could be announced as next year's pre-order project and be another year out from there.
