So, I always wanted a a bike for my girls. Having a resin printer paved the way of obtaining one, however i wasn't fully committed as i was hesitant spending a lot of resin for a bike. Also at that time i didn't know what bike to print, then i came across the Yaiba Kusanagi CT-3X from Cyberpunk 2077. I didn't feel like trying to model that bike so I found one on Gambody, and even then I was still hesitant. Then it went on sale, so i just bought the model just in case i did feel like making it.

Time went by and I haven't used the 3D printer for some time and thought why did I purchase a printer and don't use it. So I ordered a batch of resin and went ahead of printing a bike for my girls.

I went for 1/4 instead of 1/3 scale mainly cos of the size and cost. And lastly I didn't want to do a lot of modifications to the models.

Before starting to print with resin i did a test print in PLA just to make sure it looked OK, as the original model is 1/16 scale and had to scale it up by 400%.

Next I did a test print with clear resin to see if I could make transparent after sanding. And as you can see it was a success.

I had to split the largest models in blender so that it could fit on the print bed.

Next I spent a week of printing the parts, and mid-way I decided to a cavity in the main body for electronics if I decide to add lights later on. As at the beginning of the build process, I thought it would be too much of a hassle to add lights.

Mid-way test fitting, just to make sure I haven't wasted time and money

I got one of those magnetic charging cables and added a hole for power.

At this time I was happy and sad. Happy that it started to look good and sad that I need to spend a lot of time sanding.

Sanded.jpg.260b311e3f3af1295e97d0973f555a66.jpgIt wasn't fun sanding and some parts didn't fit properly, so I had to get out the rotary tools and start removing resin and pray that I don't mess things up.

I started to loose tract of time and start to dread doing this.

After sanding / fitting hell, it was time to glue the main body parts then prime the pieces before painting.

At this time I just wanted to get this finished and took less photos. I was a long process of masking and airbrushing, and repeating it several times for each colour.

I was kinda worried as this is metallic red and it looked kinda purple. Luckily after a few more coats it looked OK.

At this stage, I decided to go ahead and start adding lights and cos this model has a plain dash, I had to design a dash and made a simplified version based off the game.

Masking.....and unmasking hoping I didn't screw up, which i did a couple of times.

After painting I gave the pieces a spray of clear coat.

Now that the painting has finished, it was time to solder the LEDs to wires......

Then wiring....

Then coding to test that all the LEDs still work after gluing
