The Dolper 49'ers (Shin Sato + Tsukihime Ciel) Are Here

Both Dolpa 49 new dolls have arrived. I bought them from Yahoo Japan Auctions the day after the event. I had to pay scalper prices of course, but at around 25% more than their original price they compared reasonably well with proxy prices and of course I avoided the miserable hell of the clickwars 🥵.

I do also have Ciel's school outfit, but it's still in the Buyee warehouse.

At this point I'll mention it's been quite a busy working day so I haven't put them in their default outfits.

First up Shin Sato. There's been quite a bit of discussion about DD looking the same these days. I guess I should really go for someone a bit different next time, like Anthy or Y'shtola. So staying with this theme, Shin Sato (below centre) is almost certainly the love child of Uzuki Shimamura and Kagamine Rin. I don't know where the extra height came from, but it's quite common to see offspring towering over their parents.

I think Shin Sato is cute, but I can't help feeling that she'd be much cuter as a DDS. Some bodyswapping will occur at some point. Also she's bound to look super cute in her outfit, but I don't fancy spending hundreds of hours trying to attach all those teeny hearts to her hair 😪. I might wait until I have a gigantic Idolmaster dressup session, but for now Uzuki has to stay in her Clannad outfit until the new dangos and proper wigs arrive.

Another topic that's come up lately are hand sizes. Both new girls come with large hands and I definitely want to swap out these man hands for something more dainty. Having said that both new girls come with useful gripping hands.

Small micro-observation: both girls have what appears to be a redesigned neck hole. Maybe this is to address the cracking that's common on most DD. I don't know when this change was made.

Useless factoid: Shin Sato is our first green eyed girl although I'm not sure if Yayoi's are blue or green.

Have I mentioned that both girls' boxes are gorgeous? They truly are.

Next up is Ciel. I'm not at all familiar with Tsukihime. It appears DD Ciel is less popular than DD Arcueid so I don't know if that's related to the relative popularity of their characters or something else.

I am surprised by Ciel. Initially I was only going to get Shin Sato, but I have to say Ciel is my clear favourite so far. I think she is really gorgeous and a great addition to our big Dollfie family.

Incidentally she comes with an additional set of hands. Her swords are very impressive. It's a shame she has big hands, so again I'll get her something more ladylike.

I'll dress her up in her actual outfit sometime as that was the main reason I acquired her. I'm really pleased I should soon her her alternative outfit - Yor Forger and Arcueid's other outfits are super expensive.
