chantelle Posted May 28, 2023 (edited) I wasn’t sure which category this goes under but I’m putting it under the Dollfies Dream section since its a Volks product. Has anyone tried Paint Remover Eco? I bought a bottle a while ago and tried it today and to be honest I regret it. It works fine (pretty strong stuff actually) but I would not recommend it 😭 Paint remover eco is marketed as “low odor” but it smells really strongly (to me at least, maybe others feel differently) and the scent lingers for so long. If anyone uses it, definitely use it in a well ventilated place if not outside. I wiped my heads, washed them with soap and water, and left them outside to air out, but they all still smell strongly of the paint remover. It’s been at least 6 hours but hopefully leaving it out longer helps. If anyone has any experience with it and knows how to eliminate the fumes, please let me know! jadepixel Posted May 28, 2023 I've used it a couple times to wipe faceups. For me it doesn't smell any worse than the brush cleaning solution that I've also used for faceup wipes. I keep the lid on the bottle while I'm working on removing the faceup, and after I've been working on a head for 5 minutes or so I rinse off the remover, that way solvent isn't sitting on the vinyl a long time. When I'm done wiping the faceup I wash the head again with mild soap. I'm also usually working in my bathroom with the fan running to help with ventilation. Since you're doing faceups you can just wear the same mask as you would for spraying MSC, and if you're using the correct filter cartridges you won't smell anything 😄 1 jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
chantelle Posted May 28, 2023 @jadepixel Thank you so muc for your advice! This was really helpful and I will be sure to use these tips next time! 😄
Subaru Posted May 30, 2023 I guess it's labelled as "low odor" because compared to "hot" solvents (lacquer thinner, mineral spirits...etc), this is more mild. That being said I hate the smell of it too lol. 1 My wallet needs a vacation 💸Blog Insta Ko-Fi Etsy
chantelle Posted May 30, 2023 (edited) On a more positive update my doll heads no longer strongly smell anymore! I've been checking them like a lunatic to see if there's any lingering scent but at this point I can't tell anymore lmfao. They're fine though now and barely smell like anything. A bit disappointing for me since I do like the vinyl smell but its not really something I care about much. 3 hours ago, Subaru said: I guess it's labelled as "low odor" because compared to "hot" solvents (lacquer thinner, mineral spirits...etc), this is more mild. My household avoids scented anything in general so it was a real shock to me 😭 I have used acetone in the past and while it had a chemical odor, I don't remember it being nearly as intolerable and lingering for so long.
