Imomodoll Discussion Thread!

Well, I’m definitely interested as having a vinyl 1/4 boy has been a dream and I like the body’s sculpting. A one piece torso is ok for me as it can’t pop apart, but arms and legs falling off isn’t something I can handle, so guess I will wait for reviews (but it will be hard).

According to the comments it seems like the body will need its own skeleton (maybe for the narrower hips?) but that might be a mistranslation. I'm so excited for this body, I hope it releases soon 🥺 we boy doll collectors will finally be fed

looks great! it seems like the hands are the same as miko's so far. maybe interchangable hands?

I definitely plan to try out DD heads on this body! I can see that working very well. But I'm also excited to see what kind of sculpts Imomo comes up with, I'm very fond of their heads.

All I can make out there is something like a thumb, but to me it definitely seems like it should be 1/4?

Esp because according to the proxy my 1/6 hands haven't shipped out yet anyway, so it would be strange ...

I'll also be happy just to get another male torso option of any kind, but it definitely would have been nice for it to be 2 part. The Imomodoll chest joint isn't the best but I definitely feel the difference when handling my Miko vs. Ruby body.

To me the one part torso has it's pros and cons, from an aesthetic point of view I definitely prefer one part, because I'm very nitpicky a out how these parts tend to connect, I think it looks ugly quickly ... (yeah Volks, I am looking at you)

But of course a bit more mobility is always nice as well.

My proxy said that the Canis A heads will be shipped on the 29th of this month if there are no delays. The sculptor posted a pic of the head along with an alternate version, and here's a pic with the 75's knee bent in case anyone wanted to know what it looks like.

Depending on your location I would highly recommend directly from taobao via proxy.

At least for me in Europe that is always much cheaper than any not taobao based reseller.

the tan one looks so defined for some reason xD. but these look awesome! can't wait for the reviews to see more images of it

My Ruby arrived today! Excuse the grainy phone pic: 

My first impressions with her have been good, and I love her overall form factor and proportions. Her arms were tight and felt nice to pose, but she had one slightly floppy leg and the vinyl calves kept sliding up and down over the frame in a way I've never seen on a vinyl. 

It took a looot of fiddling to keep her head on, and I wish there were any kind of instructions included with the silicone washers, because it took me a while to figure out that you're supposed to put the head on the peg before you slide it on. Using just one washer meant that the head would come loose really easily, so I ended up using both stacked on top of each other, which has worked well so far but I'm expecting it to come loose with a lot of play. If I didn't have a wig with a stretchy cap that was easy to get on and off her head, I could see this being really frustrating. I don't doubt there are home mods that could fix this entirely, though.

She isn't perfect, but I still think she's a great MDD alternative and the uniqueness of her compared to MDDs on the market (in skin tone and body type) is a serious plus in my book. From my understanding as an outsider it seems crazy difficult to engineer a vinyl doll compared to a regular BJD, and the fact that an indie studio was able to make anything even comparable to a DD is something I really admire. Now that they're seemingly retooling the Ruby body to be even better, I'd definitely recommend preordering her new edition to anyone still on the fence.

After skimming both active Imomo threads, I don't think I saw anyone make this comparison yet but apologies if I missed it. I spent this afternoon playing around with some busts and found a nice result!

Imomodoll Mimi in white with the AZ02 G bust in their standard tone! 

• The AZ02 standard colour seems the tiniest bit more yellow; it's colour matched to Obitsu whitey I believe so that means all of these busts should work pretty well.
• I think this creates a slightly more realistic looking waist.
• The bust's neck is a bit too tall, perhaps a custom neck peg would help; I'm not sure if this would look weird (i.e. the neck looking too long?)

oh wow that looks really adorable!! Now i'm wondering how any other busts would look on her

my 1/6 imomodoll fuwamo in the new outfit i got her :] (link to the dress, which comes with a lot of accessories)

i really like how it looks on her :))

now i just need to get her a faceup, eyes, and a wig. if anyone here can do anime-style faceups (or can recommend a faceup artist with prices on the cheaper side) feel free to hit me up ^_^

Hey, does anyone know the difference between the imomodoll miko and the imomodoll mimi? i've been eyeing their 1/4 dolls lately but i'm not sure what the difference is, maybe the mimi has some wider hips? idrk :[

@ABitPeckish Miko is the name of the head sculpt (the one with the narrow eyes and pouty lips). Mimi is the name of the curvy 1/4 body.

The fullset Miko’s are sold with the Mimi body and the listings for the Mimi bodies usually have the Miko head in the preview which makes things confusing.

As far as I've seen, I believe this is just a translation error. There are 2 blank options: Mimi/Miko and Ruby. And 2 skin tones, obviously.

These product pictures are pretty recent, they should be from a v2 listing. Usually it's also noted in the name if the listing, if you are buying from taobao.

 

I have a question regarding the 1/6 bodies, the Toppi/Toppa release to be exact.

I have a bit of a problem with the neck pegs detaching rather easily from the bodies, does anybody have an easy fix for that?

you should have a plastic stopper to put on the neck peg. it should be with the body with it arrived at your house. if you don't, just surround the neck peg with some tape.

Do all MSD shoes fit the the lmomo 2.0 body's feet?

MoiBakaDesu l order a lmomo Miko head on the 2.0 body in DD semi white from JaneDolls. Here is JanesDoll picture of the Miko nude bjd.

I have the stopper, but the problem is not the head coming loose from the peg, but the peg coming lose from the body itself, the neck.

It just keeps popping out. It would have been nicer if it would be fixed like for the 1/4 bodies.

maybe putting a bit of hot glue at the end of it would make it harder to pop out? not sure

Thanks for posting this, it answers a question I had, namely if YoSD clothing fits the 1/6 body. I noticed the clothes are not Volks YoSD specifically, but I’m guessing in theory they should fit too? The wide hips are not a problem? Really tempted to get one if that’s the case.

i usually just stick a thin layer of blue tac  to the bottom of the neck peg(the round part) or like i said put a thin layer of tape on the bottom part. it usually fixes it but the tape might be too thick to fit in the neck hole so i usually use blue tac

I just ordered my first Imomo Doll through Jane's dolland! Ruby Body and a Didi/Dada head. I only noticed after ordering that the head didn't have a semi white option so I'm compelled to message her and ask to change both skin tones to tan if the difference is too huge even after blushing. But I'm really excited to get and customize this doll! I've been eyeing it for a while now!

My proxy has just received my Canis heads at their warehouse! I think Imomo sent the wrong order though as superbuy has the photos in the canis a heads I ordered, I did order canis b heads too but I ordered 3 with one being caramel.  Guess I'll wait for them to stock it in the warehouse and see what they say, they did catch another time when I ordered a 1/4 body from Imomo and they sent just the bust by mistake. Still super excited for these heads though, can't wait to practice faceups on them.
