I haven't sanded down a head, but I have carved and lightly dremeled one before. Their heads are pretty hard and have a decent thickness, I think you'd be able to sand the lips down at least somewhat.

Thanks for your reply! If I may also ask, was it hard to carve; especially around the eyes? This will be my first custom I'll be working on, excited yet completely nervous. Got my watercolor pencils on my desk and just need to order MSC and Liquitex paints.

It's definitely pretty firm, it doesn't have any real squish to it. Pretty plastic-y in texture. That said, I just used a small boxcutter for my initial carving, and a dremel tool to clean it up after. If you don't have a dremel, sanding it will take longer but give a similar result. My imomodoll was an empty, so it didn't have eyes (I was carving out some actually) but I've cleaned up the inside of the eyeholes on other imomodoll heads and it wasn't too strenous. Just be careful not to let the blade slip or it may make a nick that needs sanding out.

Working on a face up for the head I have, has anyone used gouache for their faceups? I recalled someone who has in this thread.

I've sprayed the head with 2 layers of MSC so there shouldnt be any staining? The gouache I plan on using is HIMI, if its diluted well, would it work as fine?

only bought a bit of liquitex paint since it was on sale at a local store.

I've used gouache for 2 of my imomos I didn't have any problem with staining with two layers of msc. For me it was easier to work with than acrylic, but to get more opaque or vivid colors it might take more layers with gouache.

If you're nervous test some paint on part of the head that wouldnt be seen, like the head cap. Good for practicing strokes too.

I think it was 0bsequi0us who mentioned they worked with gouache for years, and recently a lot of their faceups started breaking and literally flaking off, so I would be careful with that. Maybe stocking up on more Liquitex would be smarter in the long run.

Gouache is so delicate I worry about the faceup coming off as a result. My preference leans toward watered acrylics for paint for that reason. Though I do like having the base sketch with watercolor pencils though.

Ah a shame :/. I can't unfortunately order from Taobao because agent costs and customs scare my bank account as a Finn. I'll see if I'll get to actually doing the face myself in a year or two lmao.

I'll see if I'll find any on ali instead from a shop that doesn't sell recasts though thats pretty much impossible (-_-;)

Hi another finn here! I've been using Spreenow as a taobao proxy (it's definitely one of the ones that has a learning curve though) they of course have the proxy and shipping fees, but they're not super high. Somehow packages from them have been slipping past customs, so you might not have to worry about it.

Many proxies out of China/Taiwan etc are willing to mark your package as a gift or lower value to avoid customs.

Some Japanese proxies are willing also (Solaris, certain doll proxy services) - but for obvious reasons, it's not as common (or advised lmao, I do it with dolls but it's a huge risk).

When it comes to superbuy (and in the past pandabuy) I always use their tax free Europe or Germany lines, never had any problems with that, they are fairly quick as well. Had multiple very high value things and full dolls shipped that way and everything arrived without problems or high costs.

I was originally looking at tinyfox blank heads + their angel body for some customs, but armed with the knowledge that imomodoll has tan bodies (and boys!!) I think I will opt for one of these, they're just so cute! I'm very interested in the 65 cm boy, but I'm assuming there's still been no news about it for a while... it's a shame the files were lost :c

Does anyone happen to have the height measurement in cm for the 1/4 boy, including the head? I saw a body by itself that looked to be about 40 cm but I don't know how much height the head adds. On that note, I'd be grateful if someone would be able to provide a photo of how they look next to a DD or DDS, for comparison's sake. 🥺

Thank you! That information helps a lot- and I would very much appreciate a photo it if it's not too much trouble! Your boys look amazing and it would be interesting to see the different scales together like that.

Daww, thank you for the compliment for my boys!

And of course it's no problem at all, here they are:

To note, here we have a v.2 MDD with a Kakuso torso. And Imomo Fuuta has a Shoushou head, but size wise it is not really different to Imomo heads.

Is that DDB, DDSB, MDD+K and then ImoBoy?

I’ve been looking around trying to find a pic of a MDD vs the ImoBoy EVERYWHERE

Good news guys, my Chami and Tiamat are out for delivery, and I have a pretty good idea what I'm going to do with them! I'm gonna make them into a cute sad gorgon and mean-girl fairy, respectively.

Yeah, that is correct! And I'm glad I can help out with that side by side, haha.

Here's a Japanese owner of what seems a previous release of the very same Mayoko i have Preordered on AmiAmi.

Seems like she's having a Full Day there struggling mightily with some rather loosey-goosey Q.C. and all of that.

if Imomodoll hasn't upped their game in this coming Jan. 2025 Reissue...

then i am definitely looking forward to a hour or two worth of joint-tightening techniques

in order to make myself a 1/4 Girl that can readily support her own weight...

and not go flying all to pieces upon being Dressed.

Good Thing i've a full fresh roll of white PVC tape at the ready...

Has there been any word on the bodies that are supposed to go with the Canis heads?

There have been at least 4 new 1/4 head sculpts including character dolls announced recently, but they are awfully quiet about the 1/3 guys, yeah ...

I wish they would focus on that or at least give some updates, I'm scared that they cancel that body alltogether.

Hiya! I chat with the sculptor from time to time and they said maybe next year(though they didn’t seem super confident). Also that it has been downgraded from 68 to 65.

I think Imomo has shifted its focus to the smaller 1/4 because they’re doing well. I’m not sure they realize how many people want the 1/3 boy.

Meanwhile, here I am hoping for a better 1/6 body whose legs don't fall off, haha. 😅

For me my 1/6 boys are the most sturdy out of my Imomo bunch, haha. The chubby 1/4 ones are the biggest problem children for me.

When I checked their Weibo in hope to see something about the 1/3 boys I came across these:

008ccSdgly1huqkor9ablj31jk2bbe1q.jpg.5d48dfade6bcc66627dbe598c50088c6.jpg008ccSdgly1huqn2hvggnj30xc1e0twg.jpg.fa6ca714b38ced0c86990614cafaca30.jpg008ccSdgly1hupbxqgqaij31jk2bdkcg.jpg.e790a9ac9b6ff87d22b7559441e8e8bc.jpg008ccSdgly1hupbxds4k3j30m80xc46c.jpg.bc5bc1da0df2f5578258f79bb6fb91e2.jpg008ccSdgly1huobjmjs0cj31jk2bb4kp.jpg.a38388258539a548b42a71ae0d173feb.jpg008ccSdgly1huobjqslzbj30m80xc11y.jpg.9cc4699394b56f31bb1a674620757d7a.jpg

All back to back from the middle of October. If they are going to sell the Corvus head blank I will definitely get one.

Next year ... jeez, that is such an uncertain timeframe. I wonder why they are so reluctant with the boys, they would fit a spot that pretty much nobody else delivers, thenot too skinny, but also not too muscular 1/3 boys. Like, I don't think there are any just like that on the market currently at all?
