Imomo crew, I come to you for help!

Is there a known shortage of the 1/4 boy/slim agender bodies, or am I just completely internet blind??  I can't seem to find them in stock anywhere, and I'm desperately wanting some in the cream color so I can finally get my noggins a home to live on 😭.  It seems to be the only body type that has just disappeared from existence!

There are some on their Taobao, but only in chocolate. There used to be some on Aliexpress but it seems they’re gone. 

I think they will restock pretty soon, surely. they usually have all their base bodies pretty well available at most times.

Speaking of available, all the new blank heads are also on their taobao now, dropped both Corvus and Lucifer into my cart right away, haha. (We are not talking about my backlog of bank heads.)

@MoiBakaDesu Man, I hope so!  I also picked up both Corvus and Lucifer, which really spurred on my "oh crap I really gotta get at least a body now" hah 😂 

Hello! I was wondering what size washer/gasket I need to secure my imomodoll’s head peg? Once I have the body I’ll post a picture of what I mean, but I see a lot of imomodoll bodies come with the gasket piece included.. but I want to plan ahead in case I lose or need a new one for whatever reason and would rather make sure I have it on hand instead of waiting for the worst

The neck circumference for 1/4 dolls is given as 7.2 cm...I don't know anything about washer/gasket sizes, but something with an inner circumference of 7.2 cm should do

For 1/6 dolls, the neck circumference looks like 5.5 cm

Apparently they sent a public notice that they got robbed and their molds got stolen, but what really happened was that the factories were holding those molds hostage? And they blamed it all on this one guy they fired without severance? And that's only the start of it, there was plagiarism and offshore shell companies and a bunch of other fun stuff going on too...

I love my two existing Imomos but I'm not sure I'll ever get another if the factories aren't even getting paid

Thank you so much!! I bought Chise secondhand and so I don’t know if her body will include the gasket or not-

oh goodness- I’m glad I bought my doll secondhand from someone else! That sounds shady as hell- 

If this is true (I'm not sure I trust the authenticity of news on tumblr), then I suppose that I should look into other budget options.

I had always gone to Imomodoll because the dolls were more affordable than other options while not being recasts, but there's more than one way for a doll brand to not be legit I guess

yeah, I considered copying the original links from XHS through Google Translate or something, but there were so many and the user summarized them so well

That's where I feel so bad about it myself too -- according to one of the linked XHS posts, the cheap price comes from the fact that one of the Imomodoll higher ups never planned to actually pay the manufacturers and the entire price went into their pockets

I read the full posts myself and realize that there's issues now, but I'm just really disappointed because I had always thought the cheaper price was due to the philosophy of "cheaper products can sell more to make up for a lack of profit margins on individual items". Or yk, cheaper vinyl formations.

Either way, I hope that some other brands will fill the budget options void in a more ethical way. I know there's some cheaper brands out there in the hard plastic realm, but there's a lot less good options when you're creeped out by the appearance of semi realistic face sculpts.

I don't fully understand the blog post, could someone please summarize it like I'm an elementary schooler?

Wow, this is all ... pretty shocking. I could imagine this is also very linked to the true reason why the 1/3 boys are so delayed.

I really wanted a 1/6 Imomo, so it’s really disappointing to read this…

At the moment, it's a bunch of hearsay supported by claims that screenshots prove that the people making the claims are legit and in-the-know. They bolster that concept at the start of the post by saying: Sharing screenshots are considered a socially-acceptable form of proving your words. You’ll see them a lot in this kind of disputes.

While there is some truth to that idea in the realm of social media, the idea that a screenshot is hard proof that something is fact, is a false premise in my opinion. Everything else in the post is pretty dependent on the reader accepting that premise as truth.

They also refer to some of the people involved by nicknames instead of their real name:

Why would the factories hold the moulds hostage, you ask? It’s because the owner of Imómó (let’s call him HipHop)

The lack of identities of the people involved seems like a huge red flag to me.

 

The claims being supported by those screenshots are that the owners of Imomo are defrauding people, not paying their bills, and doing it all to embezzle money.

If there really is is embezzlement, fraud, and deliberately unpaid bills, I'd expect public records, not social media screenshots, to support the claims. I'd look for news from more reputable sources than anonymous posts on tumblr. For those of us outside of China, that will be a bit hard though.

The whole post seemed pretty dodgy to me, but that's just my opinion. I've never bought anything from Imomodoll, so I don't exactly have an iron in the fire, and I haven't been paying any attention to them.

 

All that said, you can certainly operate by the adage "trust but verify" before spending your money with a company that could be dodgy. There is nothing wrong with waiting and seeing if anything comes out of this.

If anyone has something more official to contribute in support of the claims, they are certainly welcome too post it.

It's definitely going to be a staggering blow if true, but agreed with above that until hard proof comes out it's kind of just toeing the line of "it could be true, it could be sensationalized".  It's hard being so separate from companies geographically because it always feels like we're the last to know lol.

I really hope it isn't as dire as this makes it seem.  I wouldn't say I'm an Imomo loyalist but I do have some heads I'd like a body for, and I'd prefer to know that I'm supporting a company properly and not feeding into a questionable void lol :')

 

Well; if AmiAmi up and cancels my JAN. "Provisional Preorder" on Imomo Mayoko... then at least i'll now know precisely why...

For some reason all of the dealers have the boy bodies in stock except for Imomos official taobao. If you still want to get a boy body or haven't found a dealer yet, heres a link to one.

I will also still hold on that this is just false information and not as dire as it seems. I like Imomo a lot despite some quality faults that they tend to have, but their sculpting is just very pretty.

I might be looking for resin alternatives for my Canis heads though, if it does shape up to be true what is going on there with the not properly payed factories.

 

Well... according to AmiAmi, my Mayoko's release has been bumped up to THIS Month. We'll See...

Well, She's in stock at AmiAmi. they just recently Requested Payment, too!!

She'll be arriving at my new Residence via DHL likely within a week.

she'll be on her way right as i am in the process of Moving... so, when she shows up, she'll end up being be one amazing Housewarming Gift!!!

My 1/6 Dia A head arrived today. Still waiting on my Hack B head. I'm so charmed by their little sculpted teeth and grumpy face, I haven't painted an open mouth head before, glad I'm off this weekend!
