AliceDoll Posted July 10, 2023 Hi! Has anyone ever ordered from the bjd dress maker Kaleidoll? I'm hoping to make an order with a proxy on their taobao but I didn't know how long usually it takes.Do you know if all their goods are made to order? Or are they in stock if listed on their store front?Sadly I can't use taobao as my account is restricted and the proxy (using superbuy) doesn't really have a whole lot of info available. If you have experience with this popular maker I'd love to know your experience! Thank you!
Monty Posted July 10, 2023 (edited) I have experience with using a proxy (newcloversinging) to buy from them but unfortunately it wasn’t very good. The clothes are preorders (at least it was on my case) and took months longer than originally forecast to ship. When everyone’s clothes shipped, I was the only one who didn’t receive mine. When I asked my proxy about it, they asked Kaleidoll and it turned out Kaleidoll had ‘forgot’ my order (?) but did resend it. Unfortunately they sent me the wrong size (Kumako instead of MDD), so the fit wasn’t great and now I don’t even want the outfits. Each set was also meant to come with a small brooch, but one was missing that (the bag for it was also sealed and empty?) They cost a lot and took such a long time that the experience was really soured for me. When I vented about this on Instagram, someone told me that they had a problem with the same release and the one they received was missing an entire item of clothing (the cardigan). To be fair, all of these things may not be Kaliedoll’s fault. Delays happen, especially with small operations. I have no proof that the fault was with them or my proxy, especially for the incorrect size. (Newcloversinging was very quick to blame them though and said something like ‘i will never work with this seller again’ about the forgotten order.) But it has made me hesitant to try again. I won’t rule them out entirely in future if they make something I want again but well, you did ask and my experience was ‘I overpaid for the wrong clothes that took a really long time to arrive, and couldn’t even exchange them.’ I will say the clothes themselves are very nicely made. edit: just remembered this but the clothing came in clear boxes that had decorative shredded paper inside. @Subaru also ordered a few sets the same clothing I did and told me that while the correct size was sent without issue, apparently the paper had a perfume so strong it was nauseating, which might be a problem for people sensitive to smells like that. I didn’t have this issue (mine are completely odourless) but I thought it was worth mentioning. There aren’t a lot of kumako makers (that’s what I was hoping to order for!) so I’m really sad to hear it. The smell thing too @_@ yikes! I will say if you’re looking to sell ever - I’d be interested! thank you again sharing your experience T-T
nyampo Posted July 11, 2023 (edited) I don’t know if this is helpful but I used newcloversinging as my proxy for a outfit set for my 70 cm boy and they forgot one small item and I wouldn’t say it was particularly well packaged. I’m pretty sure ordering through a proxy isn’t something I’m likely to do again. As for Kaleidoll I’m sure you can get their clothes through a taobao agent. Someone on facebook said that ordering direct was a lot easier (but that the last time they had done it was a couple of years ago). Have you ever ordered something else from newcloversinging? Was the experience the same/similar if you did?
nyampo Posted July 12, 2023 No it was just this outfit set, I ordered it in the beginning of this year. I might give them another chance since they actually gave me free shipping unlike mydollection who told me I had to pay in the end.
