realistic/glass bjd eyes for dollfies?

does anyone know what size glass eye might look best for a dollfie dream? specifically for a dd that normally takes 24mm eyes (my millhiore)... most glass/realistic eyes seem to come in 18mm at the largest which makes sense as bjds have smaller, more realistic eye sizes.. however i have seen a twitter user's custom ddh-06 (which normally takes 24mm) with glass eyes that seem to fill out the eye holes nicely so i know it can be done! any help or advice would be greatly appreciated..!! ^w^ thank you~

I would say 18mm or 20mm is your best bet, probably large iris if you can get your hands on them? Realistic style eyes end up looking kinda crazy in anime heads because the irises are often too small (and a sorta unflattering shape). I tested some of the glass BJD eyes I have in my DDH04, if it helps you visualize:

This is a standard 18mm glass eye, usually this iris is way too big for any of my resin dolls but it looks creepily small in this head. But the eye itself fits nicely in the socket.

This is a totally round (so it doesn't have an iris arc or glass stem) 20mm eye intended for big-headed dolls like H.Minor... This iris is slightly smaller in relation to the eye, so it has a similar effect to the 18mm. It fits in the socket pretty well too.

It also really depends on the eye maker. I know Cœur Lapin makes glass anime eyes, which are 16mm or 18mm eyes (called 16mmO and 18mmO to differentiate from the realistic glass eyes they make) with long irises that fill out the eye socket and provide a depth and range of colour you can’t get from acrylic or resin eyes.

However, I’ve also seen complaints about glass eyes being too heavy for DDs and falling out a lot, so there’s that to consider.

If you’re dead set on realistic eyes, it sounds like you’re going to be limited to 18-20mm eyes that look a bit wonky like in the post above.

You can find 24mm glass and resin eyes all over Etsy and eBay, too. Just typing in '24mm doll eyes' gets me... well, a lot of useless cruft, and a lot of cheap-looking acrylic eyes, but also a lot of actual decent-looking 24mm eyes.
