DDsb body comparison and clothes?

Recommended Posts

Doloramore

Hi,

I'm considering ordering a DDsb for a new project but before committing I have a few questions:

Does anyone has a picture of a DDsb next to a DDdy? I'd like a shorter male, data base says DDdy is 57 while DDsb is 54 but I'd like to see what it really looks like 😊

I gathered that finding clothes is difficult... is there a size that would fit their bodies?

And of course if you own a DDsb feel free to share some pictures!

Note: I do not own a DDSB. I do, however, have a DDB and a DDS girl.

The DD(S)B fits clothes pretty much exactly like an SS-bust DD(S) girl. The problem is finding masculine clothing for him. Volks makes a few options, but the selection of pants in that size is pretty limited. Obviously, looking elsewhere is an option, and you can find stuff that fits him, but you do have to worry about things being overly long and baggy. The DD body is thinner than most BJDs of a similar size, especially through the waist, and the DDS compounds the problem by being shorter as well. And you do still need to be shopping in the girls' sizes. Another thing to watch out for is that most clothes are sized for M bust, so they may have bust darts, which will look wrong on a boy (or flatter girl).

As far as shops with readymade clothes go, Nine9Style and TTYA have a decent selection of fairly gender-neutral pieces; TTYA has a better selection in that regard, but also higher prices. Little Wonder has a good selection of basic separates and a category for clothes that will also work for boys; I haven't purchased from them before, however, because international shipping costs are hard to justify for things I can sew myself. This thread has a bunch of Taobao shops with clothes that should fit. I will say that commissioning custom sized clothes can be a bit of a risk if the seller doesn't actually have the body available and is just working off measurements, because those don't really convey the shape of the body. That's mostly just an issue with precisely tailored clothes, though.

If you do sew, or are willing to learn, Undead Threads has fairly simple free patterns. The PJ shirt pattern in particular is a nice basic piece that fits DD/DDS very well. Missy's Imaginings has a wide selection of free 1/3 patterns, but they will run big as-is on DD/DDS. Smart Doll Guru has a collection of free patterns, obviously aimed at Smart Dolls, but they're a closer fit to DDS than most 1/3 patterns. For paid patterns, RequiemArt has a good selection in a range of difficulties. For jeans, this pattern is drafted specifically for DD/DDS boys and fits my Kaito perfectly; however, it is on the more difficult side, even if you leave out things like the belt loops and back pockets.

Thank you so much for your reply, it is so helpful 🥳

Looks like dressing the DDSB body will be a challenge but maybe i'll be able to Frankenstein something!

The shops you recommended have some nice things that I'm definetly putting aside. I don't sew but I'd be willing to try, thank you for suggesting so many patterns (these jean pants looks amazing)!
