The first day after the click-war there were some up for around the €700 mark still but now they are all over €800, reaching the €900 mark. They are going up fast unfortunately.

I did actually manage to get 1 from mercari on Sunday for 110,000 yen but the seller cancelled so I guess they are holding off for a higher rate which I am not really wanting to pay. I love Frieren but I'll just wait and hope they either restock or the aftermarket prices go down.

That click war was brutal.  My friend Ed really wanted one so me, him, his wife and another friend all tried to win one that night.  They were on laptops and the friend was on a cell phone and desktop while I only had my phone.  Neither of our phones ever got onto the site, all we got was that stupid error page with the bear on it.  DAMN YOU KUMA!

Errors kept popping up, pages kept locking up and whenever we thought we had one in the cart and paid for, the bear showed up.  After about 20 minutes the friend on the desktop finally got one in their cart and paid for.  It was tense for a few minutes while we all kept trying and waited for the confirmation email.  But it finally came through and Ed got his girl!

It had been a while since I tried a click war and man, I didn't miss that stress.

Back in MY day all we had to do was open several windows of the items we wanted and refresh until one was available.  Then we'd add to cart, close window, add to cart, close window.  Then paste in the CC info and BAM!  In and out quick and easy.  Now that doesn't work anymore due to so many people trying for things.

rumors have it that VolksUSA will be making an announcement about her this month.

 

So I have an issue. I got an email from Volks stating that since "the registered name and the name of the credit card holder do not match" for my Frieren order, that I need to go in and cancel the order myself (but that if I don't, they will cancel it). This is definitely an error, as the card used is under my name and is the same one that I have used multiple times. The transaction was pending ON THAT CORRECT CARD, but has since disappeared (which is normal, but sadly means I can't screenshot it as proof). I have replied to the email and sent an online inquiry, but the email they sent really only gives me 24 hours before they will cancel the order themselves. Has anyone ever had this happen before?

EDIT: Trying to get this corrected with Volks!!

Oh wow that is weird. 😨 I just wrote on the previous page about how Volks refused to accept my card for the 2nd deposit of my Kaito pre-order, and then my boyfriend used his card to pay for it and there was zero issues. 😶 Hopefully the email you got was sent in error and Volks responds to you soon & your order won't be cancelled! I really feel like their credit card payment system is all over the place...

To followup on my issue: Turned out that I hadn't placed an order on my own account since 2022 and at that time my credit card had a nickname attached on the website. Apparently since then that field was removed/changed and the nickname was put in the Cardholder's Name section. So when I purchased Frieren I just used the card on file and did not notice the field name change. So uh, opps? Thankfully Volks responded quickly to my email and we were able to correct the mixup.

The worst part was that I was able to get the doll for a friend, so I was feeling sick to my stomach that I almost messed that up for them!! I will be triple-checking my stuff from now on.

Oh that's lovely news! I'm glad it worked out in the end and they were able to respond. To sit through that click war, it's a well-deserved prize!

I got a re-stock email this morning, it arrived at 3.40am my time so I was sleeping, she was sold out again once I had woken up. Good news is she is now available from the UK DD friends website, but they want £850 for her. That converts to ¥152,690. Thats a lot more than what she would cost me direct from Volks, even with import tax and shipping so looks like I'm waiting on another re-stock.

I think that's not a bad price compared to what I had to pay on YJA plus the postage and import duties. Frieren comes with 2 dresses plus a long coat and scarf and long staff. They have Ciel and Shin Sato listed for £1000 🥵🥵. My Shin considers herself a grail now, but even so that's a steep price. It looks better if JPY is revalued though, which is quite likely imho.

And those restock alerts remind me of the time I tried to acquire the Lego vintage Batmobile last year. Now that's a grail (although strangely only in the UK, the US has a tonne of them).

As to Frieren, the series just keeps getting better and interest in the show has not yet peaked according to Google Trends. On the other hand she's kind of been upstaged by the FF elves. I hope they release Fern (and the new characters introduced in the second half of season 1).

Yep, Volks USA will have her as a lottery.

The problem probably lies in the ease of reversing of charges in PayPal, and Volks is just protecting their business. 

In the past they have had issues with scalpers buying, but then canceling orders because aftermarket didn't turn out to be worth the investment. Volks has had to tighten things down a lot to prevent people from cheating them. 

Happy to report that her black pantyhose didn't stain her for the 2 weeks she wore it. 

I put a stain suit on her now anyways, while I was at it I added a new neck piece. 😊

I thought Uzuki Shimamura at £850 was mad 🙄.

But if we Brits have a bad election year and the pound crashes then these prices will look very reasonable compared to importing them from the motherland.

I still adore Frieren the anime. The 2nd major arc is outstanding. I have plans to make a custom Linie. I also have Lawine's wig. That would mean I also have to make Kanne and I still hope Volks will release Fern. I also want to make Ubel, as she's a total badass 🥰.

Yeah, that was about what I was willing to pay for her earlier at Mercari but the seller cancelled on me😤😆. So, hoping I win her.

After all this time, I finally went ahead with the Lottery myself..
