Oh I see ! Interesting to see the change Volks are making to characters, I think I would prefer the slip-on ears to be honest also there will be certainty a lot of people making other characters from her sculpt 🤔

I also thought about making her. Her outfit isn’t that hard to put together 😙 I would be more concerned about the unique hair color 🫣

I’m leaning towards making my own Frieren because I just prefer smaller dolls (MDD, and the under used DDP). 
 

But I am a bit curious. Is Volks USA just not selling Frieren at all? There hasn’t been any announcement or mention of her at all from them that I’ve seen.

If they sell her, it will probably be announced sometime after the Japan After Event.

Guess I will just wait and see.  

Regardless… I refuse to participate in any click war after the Re:zero dolls. If I were to buy her I would likely just wait until after and pay a bit more. But I’m not entirely sure I want to buy her like I said.

I just really like MDD because they are easier for me to carry around.🥹

Honestly, if you prefer MDD or DDP for Frieren I'd definitely recommend just skipping this release entirely, especially if you're not sure about the face. The head's not guaranteed to look good on a small body, and if you don't like her head much to begin with, all the official Frieren doll would offer you is the clothing, wig, and accessories - even the ears are using a weird system specific to Frieren's head, so you can't even reuse them on a different head. And if you like smaller dolls like MDD and DDP the clothes won't even fit right.

For her price, even direct from Volks with 0 reseller markup, you could totally just commission someone to make her outfits in the correct scale, get some elf ears in the right skintone from BAF or another seller, and find a suitable head and body for her elsewhere. It might even be cheaper than that if you get lucky.

There's a couple of Frierens floating around on YJA if anyone's interested. She's generally going for less than Miku NT, and Frieren does have a big staff plus a lot more clothes than Miku comes with.

The second half of season 1 has started today, so we're holding a Frieren party with Frieren as guest of honour.

I am expecting Volks to release Fern at the next Dolpa, along with somebody else. If the other somebody is Violet Evergarden then we'll have to move to a bigger house to accommodate everybody 😆.

If any of the costume makers have free slots then I'm commissioning a Linie.

I got my Frieren today and I couldn't be happier. Her wig is soooooooo soft!! I love her so much 🥰

I noticed this - I don't know if they changed the fibres. Nobody else here seems to have hair like hers. Is it mohair or something?

Oh and I was rewatching the anime and I noticed she wears her alternative dress in episode 13. I didn't notice it before. I think it's because she normally wears this dress (the more formal one) beneath her winter coat.

I should redress my Frieren in her coat and scarf because it's snowing here ⛄.

Finally Frieren is back on our screens and the big news from Episode 17 was the incredible new ED. This is now my all time favourite ending ED along with the final final Attack on Titan ED. Claymation Frieren is just so awesome.

Managed to order Frieren in the click war!  Took about 12 minutes, constantly trying to checkout-- the 3D verification kept giving error codes, even using two different credit cards.  Finally went through, then just had to get the last payment complete page to load for the order to register.

But if you can't get her from the clickwar, at least Mercari/YJ prices are starting to lower to 111,000yen.  

Also, good news-- she's currently sold out, but it looks like she'll be restocked.

I hope everyone who wanted her got her!

I was busy and unable to try so I had a shopping service arranged ahead of time. I'm not 100% sure which in store location she went to but she said there were 40+ people in line ahead of her. She was also trying online in case she pulled a bad lottery number, and good thing too because she said after ~20 minutes she was able to secure her online! This is my first doll so I'm quite excited it's Frieren. ♡

So mad that I missed the clickwar that I am scouring mercari🤣😜

I never managed to complete checkout. I was wanting to pay with paypal since that is listed as one of the payment options. Once the site had finally let me get to checkout paypal wasn't listed as an option so I decided to use the credit card that I had used to pre-order NT Miku with earlier. For high value purchases I have to go through 2 tier authorisation, through a banking app and them SMS. Had no problem with Miku but with Frieren each time I completed authorisation and returned to the site I got the high traffic error and couldn't complete checkout. I gave up after so many attempts as I was worried my card might get locked down due to all these failed high value purchase attempts.

If I could have used paypal, I would have saved time on the authorisation so the payment might have gone through. I'm totally cool with not been able to access a website due to high traffic but when it causes problems at check out after I've entered card numbers and confirmed the transaction with the credit card company, that doesn't sit well with me.

So now I wait for her re-stock email to try my luck again but that has to rank as my most unpleasant doll buying experience so far.

I'm not sure whether stock was available at the physical store after-events or if it was an order form (as sometimes happens), but at least for the online store, delivery of Frieren is between late February to early March. When those dolls start coming in, that'll be another good time to look at secondhand marketplaces.

I'm so sorry to hear you had such an unpleasant experience. 😢 While the old Volks website wasn't the greatest, it was still far better than the current one in my opinion. Credit Card payment seems to either work out smoothly or then not at all. When I pre-ordered Kaito, I was able to pay for him with my card, but when it came to his second deposit, the website suddenly decided that my card isn't accepted. I tried several times (with different web browsers) over the course of several days but no luck. Eventually my boyfriend offered to try if they'd accept his card, and luckily that worked out. I was a bit nervous 'cause he lives in a different country than I do, but I guess Volks didn't care as long as they got paid. xD It's kinda frustrating to know that for some goods they offer PayPal as a payment, but for (limited) dolls they don't. I suppose it's because dolls are more expensive so using PayPal is more risky for them as a seller, but... sucks for honest buyers.

Hopefully you'll manage to catch her from a re-stock! 🥰 She's got such a lovely face and seems to have a lot of personality. I don't know her as a character but I really like the doll. ❤️

I had such a horrid experience with my first clickwar. I stayed up till 2am but didn't manage to get into the site at all. I think it was for Yor Forger.

Glad some more people have secured Frieren. She's such a unique DD.

The show just goes from strength to strength too. We were all in a spin here after episode 18... 😵 there are just sooooo many cool new characters!

My current plan is to find a cosplay outfit for DDP Yayoi and turn her into Linie. I think I've found a good wig, but I'll need to commission her outfit.

Sometime I need to dress up Frieren in her winter coat. Today I bought some art supplies as I might have a go at making her some grimoires 📚.

Whille you're at it, craft stores also often sell finished miniature treasure chests as room decor (at least those in the US do). The larger sizes could fit a DD half inside. You know what to do when those grimoires are done. Will Frieren get her mimic?

Incidentally, one of the photo spaces at Dollpoint Akihabara currently has a treasure chest with teeth on display for this exact purpose 😂 

Ah, I'm so sorry you didn't get her Hoomun. I wonder if there's a chance if the USA store will get her later this year? How long was the gap between JP getting Yor and the USA store? If Frieren is this popular in the west, there's a chance they could do that?

That's extremely frustrating! It should be pretty common knowledge for VOLKS that most foreigners would be purchasing with PayPal to avoid the bank possibly denying the transaction or requiring 2-step authorization. I wonder if they just don't care. Especially for a doll this popular, they've sold out regardless, so they may not particularly care if it reaches a wider audience.
