Looking for some recommendations on where to buy or commission a wig

Hi, apologies if this is in the wrong place - I’m new to the hobby and fairly unfamiliar with forums too lol

I ordered my first Dollfie Dream doll a few days ago and have got some plans in place for the face up and clothing etc. but am at a loss with wigs. My doll will be based on a specific character (Terminator 2’s John Connor - yeah not an anime character, bit strange but he’s my favourite character basically ever haha) and I can’t find any available to buy that would be just right for him. I’m thinking of commissioning somebody, but I don’t really know where to look. I’m in the UK and would ideally prefer if the artist/shop was also, but if needed I’m okay ordering internationally, so any and all recommendations are welcome!

Also, I’m aware that the dolls can stain so I’ll be buying a wig cap, but is there much potential for the fringe/bangs to still cause staining? The wig will be quite dark and he has long bangs so I’m worried it’ll stain his face :(

Oh wow I’m not sure how I missed that one, thank you! So I could send that out to someone to customise for me? Bit scared of cutting it myself lol

personally im just drawing a blank in terms of anyone doing wig styling as a service at the moment.

but as a starting point that W184 wig seems close in either cork or charcoal brown (the shade obviously changes depending on the scene lighting), even just to get a flavor for your project as is.

its a fairly crude haircut, so wig trimming/styling tutorials might get you to where you want to be, also there is some margin in the wig to sneak up and get the ear to show more (Though be beware of not cutting too high so the wig cap ends up showing)

but like all custom projects it doesent have to be a home run right away.

Generally you shouldn't need to worry about hair lightly touching the face. Staining tends to be from the wig-caps, especially if it is a dark color. So a protective (cloth) head cap is recommended.

I'd suggest browsing dealers like Alice's Collections (what about this one?Or this one?) or LegendDoll, and have a look at the wigs they have listed. You have many companies, styles, and colors to choose from at a single place that way.

(Angelesque is a UK dealer, if you are ok with a bit of a wait. But I've heard they can be a bit hit and miss, so best check some reviews)

If you’re really particular about it, it’s probably best to get something close enough and then have a hairdresser cut and style it the way you want.

I know there’s a few hairdressers in Japan that offer services to cut doll wigs, but idk if they do international orders. Offhand, @Lapincere on Twitter makes and styles doll wigs, so you could start with them.

Otherwise, if you have a hair stylist you like and trust, you could ask them if they would be open to styling it for you.

Good to know about the staining, it was one of my main concerns. I think I’ll probably get the first wig you listed there, since the front is pretty much perfect as is, and perhaps get it styled (or attempt to do it myself, if I work up the courage lol) sometime in the future if I’m not 100% happy about how accurate it seems in person. I see that it’s listed as 9-9.5 inches on the site but when I was reading about Dollfies a few people have said that 8-9 inch is usually the best bet for them. Will it fit okay as is or do you think I’ll need something to help keep it in place?

not all DD heads are exact same size, there is some variation. When you get the wig and the doll, and try it on you'll get a better idea if its fine as-is, or if you'll need to get a wigcap to keep it snug (or maybe even some 2-sided tape)
