DDS M.O.M.O Arrives!!!

My Xenosaga III DDS M.O.M.O is home! I was meant to finish my layaway on her in February but I was able to finish her last week instead due to some good fortune sent my way! I remember seeing Momo's promo photos all the way back in 2013 - but as a college student, it wasn't happening - so now, 10 years later, I finally have this cutie in my possession!!! Just in time for Christmas

Okay this box is MASSIVE!!! I literally live in a box room myself now, which gives me very limited space, so I'm gonna need a big think on where to store this bad boy. The art is beautiful, however. This is my first volks fullset so it's all very new and exciting.

I bought her second hand - but I was told she was dressed once and then put back in the box for 3 years I'm so happy she can come and out and breathe again!

Time to get Momo all dressed up! 

I was afraid that the tights and shoes would stain, being black and being from volks. I've heard lots of horror stories about volks outfits being stain monsters - but I've heard from several sources that her outfit doesn't stain. Well, I'm sure it has a strong chance in the warmer weather, but I'm putting my faith in these tights for now! 

Her bra was SUCH A PAIN to get on though. In the end I had to take her arms and head off to get it on. A rough welcome I suppose.

AND I put it on backwards...  I'd gotten her corset all fastened up too and then, bam, I realize I put her shirt on WRONG.

All fixed and Momo cheers her approval. But her head's getting cold.

That's better! All dressed up and ready for action! SHE'S SO CUTE!!! Her ahoge doesn't want to behave though, which I assume is from being stuck in a box since.. forever.

Mustn't forget the hat!! Although, it doesn't want to stay on AT ALL. It just bounces right back up if I try to pull it around her head. Very cute though. 

It was at this point I realized... her tiny hair clip was missing. I checked the floor. Every plastic bag, The box. Nowhere in sight. It's such a tiny thing to miss but I still really wish I had it. I've messaged the seller to ask if it maybe came out at some point, but if it did, I assume it's long gone.

I then decided to try her out in a couple of spare wigs I have:

The red one is SUPER pretty. I put it on her and was like  wooooow. But at the same time, it's a lot of red in her default outfit. I do rather enjoy how the wig compliments her eyes, mind you.

Then  the other wig was this long brown-grey-ish wig. I love how it looks with the hat especially.

I think they're both amazing and it's a really hard choice as to which I like more.

I then put her back in her default wig. I want to enjoy her in her fullset for a little while before switching stuff out. 

I have ordered an outfit from Mandarake for her (and maybe the interstellar Flight Ranka Outfit she can model too before the yen spikes back up)

But overall I am VERY happy with her and Tsubaki will be pleased to have a new sister.

Both those wigs are so good on her. The red one brings out a bit more sass, which I like, personally. . . but that also is reflected in the crew of a-holes and lunatics that makes up my own doll collection lolol. She'd need the sass to survive here, but the need for it may not be as dire in your house as it is in mine!

She's cute and it's nice to see how happy she makes you! I agree the red wig looks fantastic on her. Perhaps an option for the future in a different outfit? Looking forward to see more pictures of her when you decide to put her in different clothes later!

Thank you  I'm happy she got here quickly too! Still, the weekend wait was just as excruciating. I'm so thankful I don't have to wait months like the initial plan 

I tried finding some during the last week or so and I couldn't find tooo many, but there's certainly a cute handful here on the forums.

Yes the red wig was instant love, but I've always been a big fan of red hair so perhaps I'm slightly biased.

Thanks  Her and Tsubaki haven't had a whole lot of bonding time tonight, seeing as I've kept Momo by my computer table until I can get a shelf up especially as a BJD area, but they've said hello at least! I'm sure they'll get on swimmingly and I'm looking forward to their future interactions.

The wigs do look great. I thought the red would go well with her slightly reddish eyebrows, but the brownish one falls around her face so sweetly. 

I don't think *this* Momo is a sassy lady, she seems slightly more reserved for now but occasionally I catch her looking at me with a brief wild spark - so there's potential for her to prove me wrong XD

I can only imagine the chaos your family extrudes but I doubt Momo would go down without a fight!!!

Ahh thank you! She really does make me smile  I haven't felt this happy about an arrival since Tsubaki came back home 3 years ago. 

The red seems to be a winner in most places I've shared the two alternative looks. I'll certainly make sure to try it again post outfit change ^_^ And I'll take plenty of photos to show, don't worry

Big congrats to you Cazzie!  Momo is such a cutie!  It's so nice to see you get the full experience of a "new" doll in her box.  All the papers and pics and bags and stuff.  Don't feel bad about her backwards shirt, I did the same exact thing to mine!  LOL  It's not just you!  😄 

I really like that second long wig on her, the lighter color works better with her eyes to me.  But I prefer her default one best.

It'll be so nice to see her and Tsubaki in pics together!  I'm sure they will get along just fine.

Thank you again  It was really cool to open her box and everything ^_^ and good to know I'm not alone with the shirt. I saw the little window and just assumed it would go on the front but that was not the case XD 

The second one has a softer feeling for sure and does indeed go nicely with her eyes. Similar colour palette I guess helps them appear more cohesive. Her default one is certainly cute! I need to look into what kind of gel/glue people use on DD wigs so I can part her bangs properly and maybe help her ahoge stand better. 

I would really like to see her in a softer pink wig too, or coral. 

Tsubaki's a friendly girl as you know, so they'll be fast friends in no time! 

Congrats on Momo! She's such a sweet sculpt, I love mine. She is very versatile and I find looks good in so many different looks if you ever tire of her default. 

 

I have never gotten staining from her default in my personal experience either just to add

Yes  Momo's default eyes are super pretty! They have hints of purple in them in person too ^_^

MOMO is really cute. I kind of like that classic DD look from the older days. She's definitely related to my Erica Fontaine (see below).

I have a couple of the Xenosaga hand cannons and they're truly massive.

As for putting on blouses the wrong way round... I've done that many times.

I think DDS coming with fist hands is a thing. However only my Kizuna AI had them. I think everybody else has had to have regular hands because they come with microphones and stuff they need to hold onto.

Thank you  I do love some of the older sculpts a lot. Especially the more realistic ones like Momo and Rise Kujikawa. Your Erica is really pretty! I do see the slight resemblance ^_^

Dressing girls in their fullsets seems to be harder than it looks, haha! 

Yeah - DDS usually come with fist hands. The standard Karin does, and Mayu before her and almost every other DDS release I know of comes with them. I LOVE them, personally - but they're not great for holding stuff, as mentioned during the last zoom meet, haha. I need to buck up my game and purchase some extra hands. I do think it depends on the release though as to what hands they come with - I think you're right for the idols having hands fitting for a micriphone. I'm assuming girls who have sword props come with grippy hands too. (Doesn't Shin Sato come with the bigger hands? I have mixed feelings on that tbh) but yes, I'm a firm fist hand admirer

Shin Sato comes with the big gripping hands, as does Frieren. They do kind of look like "man hands". On the other hand (lol) I am forever using Shin's hands because they are the best type for holding stuff.

Uzuki Shimamura comes with smaller gripping hands and they're really nice. Both left and right are slightly different.

Towa has flat but slightly curved hands which are a common default and they're quite useful for holding mobile phones and stuff.

I have some heart hands from when they were a limited release earlier this year. They're great but for some reason they're also in the big size. We also have pointing hands and the V hands for selfies.

Some DD (Miku, Ciel) come with two sets of hands but they're nothing like Pureneemo Asuna Titania who seems to come with every hand type they've ever released.
