2024 Doll Plans

With another year coming to an end in the next couple of weeks, it's now the time to start looking forward to the next. Do you have any dolly plans/goals/intentions for 2024? Share them here!

2024 is going to be a big transition year for us with real life stuff (new human addition to the family, big move, career change, etc), so it's unlikely that I'll have too much time or energy to devote to dolls. I also promised my spouse that I would finish the dolls I currently have before buying any more new ones and I'm finally getting close to achieving that. My goals list for next year is very modest!

• Faceups for my blank girls -- I've been putting off learning for entirely too long
• Sew some doll clothes
• Try my hand at doll photography
• Acquire Anthy Himemiya -- this one is a bit of a pipe dream, admittedly, but a fun one nonetheless!

I have a few I can think of:

-get a new body for my Tinyfox Heer Monka (or figure out how to fix her current one, but since her arm is literally backwards idk if that's gonna be possible...)

-get an imomo chubby body for my ruby floating head

-mayyybe get the new Truelove 1/4 girl body for my resin girl

-buy new wigs for my Azone 50s, since they suck at making straight hime bangs on wigs 😤

-sell Kano and Azone clothes

-make/buy more clothes and accessories for my dolls and dress them more often

-possibly try to find a Tinyfox Nomi available...it's possible they might take orders for him again like they did with Shirley and Rita but I might have to look secondhand

-organize my doll displays (my pullips are currently living in absolute chaos...) and clean up doll clutter! I have a bad habit of forgetting to put wigs/socks/accessories away immediately so they just kind of hang around in the open for wayyy longer than I'd like

-play with them and take photos more!

-NO MORE NEW LARGE DOLLS! I already tried to make this rule before, but then got smitten with Azone 50s and Angel Philias...but this time I'm serious fr fr! No new 1/4 or larger dolls!

-not completely doll related but I'd like to possibly start an etsy/insta store selling crochet plushies and accessories for both people and bjds. I think it'd be kinda cute to twin with my dolls

...this ended up a longer list than I thought, but I'm pretty confident I can get through most of them. The hardest one will probably be resisting buying more dolls tbh, the recent releases have been so amazing from so many brands!

Not a lot of strictly DD related plans besides playing with my boys and taking a lot of pictures (and get them even more clothes, because hey).

I do kinda want to get a DDH-29 and make it another alternative head for Fuuta. And a Imomodoll Dia A, as well for more Fuuta alternatives. (I swear, at some point I will be as flexible as with Nendo faceplates when it comes to heads for my boys.)

I will try to not get more dolls on my wishlist besides the ones that are already on there, which are 2x 68cm Imomodoll boys once they are finally released (the heads are floating here and one is already finished), as well as a OB22 and OB24 modded boy. Oh, and I have my eye on a couple of very cute 1/12 bodies, but you always have space for these and they are easy to store ...

There are also some preorders arriving early 2024 and I just have a few heads then that I can work better on once spring 2024 rolls around and it's not constantly cold and wet.

I have a lot of resin plans! But for vinyl, not so much. That should be a good thing, I guess?

• Obligatory "do more faceups/mods"... This is pretty inevitable, as I have a lot of blank heads to work with
• Get my hands on a Chimikko DD... I sure as hell hope we'll be able to get them at some point in 2024, anyways 🙄
• Continue following Imomodoll releases. I got my 1/4 boy so I'm satisfied for now, but I'm sure they'll have something up their sleeve in the coming year for me to get hyped about.
• Practice wig styling/cutting!
• Experiment with different types of eyes! Both bought and crafted. I've gone on a bit of a buying spree since discovering the really inexpensive UV transfer eyes on taobao, so maybe those will end up working for me.

That's all I can think of right now. Chimikko is the thing I'm most excited for, but unfortunately also the least concrete. 😭

I have several plans for next year. I don't know how many I'll be able to carry out but here's hoping!

• Obtain either a DDS Ranka Lee or a DD Shin Sato. (Whoever becomes available first really.)
• Maybe get a Proxy Dream Choice girl (tan) or an MDD to add to the family. (Too early to shoot for a Japan trip myself ;_;) 
• Put up a shelf/Build a new storage space for my girls to live on.
• Take more photos! Especially outside ones. Grabbing myself a DSLR for the first time would be really nice but we'll see. 
• Grab the After School Akihabara Girls Magical Ruby Dress Set for Tsubaki. I've wanted that since release and yet still don't have it! I keep putting it off for some reason even though I know she'll look bomb in it!!
• Swimsuits! A beach photoshoot sounds fun!

I think that's all my goals for next year. Don't want to go too crazy but I think these are very good milestones to shoot for! I really want to become more active in the hobby since I've taken a step back for a year or two, and I forgot how much I loved throwing myself into the chaos.

We have similar plans...at least for Anthy. Been kicking myself that I didn't grab her when I had the chance so next year will be the year ( hopefully). Also I want to concentrate on the dolls I have at my house so instead of getting new ones, paying attention to the ones I already have.

-Anthy Himemiya

- MDD 2.0 with unknown head

-repaint my DDS

-Pay attention to/ organize and restyle all dollies at home

My dolly plans for the upcoming year:

- Get a new wig for Minori

- Sew more doll clothes

- Sort Ginger out (what on earth do I want to do with her??)

- Go to Dolpa! (It's in LA this year, right? I hope I can manage to go!)

- Figure out what I'm doing with Minori (sorting out body-related things)

- Maybe pierce Min's ears? (There are a lot of fun earrings I could make!)

- Look into 1/3 size dolls (I'm very hesitant about this one, but I've wanted a 1/3 doll for some time, thinking of finding a cheaper one second-hand that needs a bit of fixing up and making a project out of it? Not sure, it may be too big of a commitment for me at the moment...)

I'm pretty excited for the upcoming year and looking forward to all of the fun things I have planned for the hobby!

2023 was an adoption heavy year, so I am aiming to have a no adoption year. We'll see if THAT pans out lol. Wish me luck. I'll probably need it. 

Big event goal: LA Dolpa road trip! Coordinating with some local friends to carpool together. I'm intending to go whole hog and do the tea party, though whether I dress up or only my dolly guest does will depend on the theme. I want the whole experience though. 

Other goals: 

Make progress on Venti: finish his cape for sure. Next priority would be faceup and wig. Next would be hat, shorts, and corset, in that order. 

Progress on Paimon: Figure out best way to get crown to stay on her noggin. Paint the remaining "hard goods". I do need to finish patterning her actual jump suit and stupid cape thing, too. 

YOI boys: I have to make a skate outfit for at least ONE of them. I do have materials for Yuuri's Eros outfit for the most part, so that's probably going to be the priority. Get Viktor a suit and coat so he can look like a proper professional coach.

Faceup mods and refreshes: Koyo, Fate, and Katya all have pale eyebrows I would like to darken so you can actually see them. Agatha could use a refresh to her cheek and lip blushing. Abby needs some de-yellowing, which will probably lead to her getting a whole new faceup. 

Photos: Several of my dolls have never had a real solo "glamor shoot", so I want to do that for at least some of them. Katya, Koyo, Viktor, and now Venti and Madoka all need good shoots. I also need to start getting over my photo perfectionism and be more okay with posting unedited shots here on the forums. 

Typed out I see this is a LOT of goals, so I'll probably only manage some of them. I guess I should think of it more as a menu of things I would like to do, and just follow the dopamine from there lol. 

My 2024 doll plans are a little up in the air, and most will probably be more SD-focused with the official 25th SD Anniversary next year. I do hope to get an MDD or two during tan season, though. Bluebell needs her sister, another DC-H-20 in tan skin named Redbud. There's also a few other things I hope to get done before 2025:

- Get a milk white hime wig for Alyssum and see if I like it more than the melon green one.

- Work on actually writing my dolls' stories. Right now I mostly just have what's in their doll profiles and scattered ideas in a google doc.

- Upgrade some of my DDIII girls to f3s. The DDdys will have to wait until there's sight of a DDdy-f3 v2, because I'll go insane if I have to keep dealing with those hip sockets. Saber Alter will need to be frankensteined onto a semi-white f3, and she is the top priority due to the heavy damage on her right elbow.

- Not DD-specific, but in late autumn/early winter 2024 I hope to upgrade from my D3300 to the Nikon Z7 II and some Z-mount lenses. I'm definitely waiting until after LA Dolpa for this one. 

- Also not DD-exclusive, but continue to work on my sewing skills. At least be able to sew (doll size) long sleeve shirts and pants with less difficulty. 

- Above everything else, attend LA Dolpa. Even if they start doing them regularly again, it's a while to wait until the next one! 

There's not a lot of doll plans I have for my vinyls in 2024 compared to my resins, but I guess the plans I have per doll are fairly lofty to begin with, so I have a lot of do!

-Tinyfox Hybrids: Have to finalize faceups, style hair, make their clothes, and am waiting on a better body for one of them since the current one's shape isn't as gamine as I hoped. I have no idea what to get for their clothing materials but I'm working on them bit by bit. Hope I can finish them by summer though. They're characters in small comic anthology I plan on publishing, so I hope I can get both done around a similar time. Why? No reason in particular.

-1/6 Imomodoll: Did and overhaul for his concept and he's just needing some eyes that I need to pick up and some clothes I can make so he's almost done. Won't be able to finish him by 2023 since the eyes will take a while until I can get them.

-1/4 Imomodoll boy: I have everything but the body since it's in tan and still waiting on it. He has a faceup, eyes, wig, clothes, shoes....I've been waiting and getting ready for a few months. The body won't come out until 2024, so gotta wait. He's going to be a cute catboy maid to my DD.

-Asmoti: I still need to pick her up and it's going to be a while but I do want to take goofy photos of all of my 1/6 tinyfox fullsets doing silly things when the summer hits and I can take them outside.

-DDP doll: I been having plans for an MDD or DDP doll and while I planned on doing a DDH and Imomodoll 1/4 boy hybrid, I decided to get a DDP instead because I like making things hard for myself by choosing a size that's tough to get clothes for. Besides that, I do like the inbetween size and I am making the clothes myself so it's not a big deal. Lacking on funds atm, but maybe I can get it later in 2024. JPY plz stay low.

-Parabox Otohime: I've been wanting a 1/2 doll for awhile and didn't originally want a vinyl one, but after hearing about how heavy the resin ones are, I decided on getting an Otohime. Same situation as the DDP in that it's going to be hard to find clothes for and lacking funds. I'll probably get this one first though since this one needs dyeing. Making clothes by myself again since the doll seems a bit too narrow for a lot of human clothes and so I can make the exact outfit I want.

-Not quite a doll plan but if Imomodoll releases their 68 boy, I would be ordering. I've been planning out for him for a while now.

-Practicing some faceups on heads. I got some heads I have designated for practice and I've ordered two more Imomodoll heads since I might use one of them as an alt head for my 1/6 Imomo and the other might replace the current head I have for my 1/4. Plan on ordering some more but not right now.

Maybe that's a bit too many doll plans. It's going to be a busy year.

I can never say what dolls I'll want to buy because all sorts of cuties randomly show up for adoption.  I can't set any kind of numbers either because they never work out.  BUT...

I do plan to work on making more display space in the house because I'm pretty much out of space right now.  Over Christmas break I'll be adjusting some shelves in the doll room to make a bit more display area for the girls I have.  But I know that won't last for long so I'll probably have to expand shelving onto walls in my bedroom to accommodate more dolls.

I also want to make a dedicated photo space out in the garage where I can have a nice open spot that I don't have to break down and put away when I'm not using it for photos.  I'm not sure I want it to look like a room or specific area, I may just have a one color backdrop and a different colored floor area that's elevated to make snapping pics easier for me.  I hate having to find places in the house to take photos of my girls because I feel the lighting is never good enough and the backgrounds get boring.  With a dedicated spot for photography in the garage, I can change things up if I want and have good lighting in place.

Other than that all I want to try to do is focus more on getting clothing and shoes for my girls.  Trying to keep them all clothed and shod is getting interesting.  😄

It’s still a bit early so I haven’t thought on it too hard, but tentatively:

- Start the doll jewelry biz for real

- Get Alice’s familiar set

- Get a Dream Choice ChimikkoDD

- Get more DD-sized clothes and shoes

- Build out a few Picco P dolls I started this year

Nothing too ambitious, and a few of those are really outside my control (the familiar set becoming available secondhand and Chimikko getting added to Dream Choice), but I think most of this is achievable.

Also want to finally make some photo stories, but I’m not going to set that as a goal 😂

I have quite alot of doll plans for 2024...getting pulled back into the hobby meant endless hours of online shopping and planning again.  

 

For Sasa-chan 

-new wig. I love her OG one, but it is a shed monster and I'd like it to last a bit longer. Still debating on what length though

-new wardrobe. My issue is should I buy her project outfit or her "canon" outfit for the short story I wrote? Decisions, decisions...

 

I do have an SD13 boy (which I'm not sure I can go into depth about here) that also needs a full wardrobe upgrade, but I'm sure I want to do his "canon" outfit since I've been dying to have him sport a suit since I bought him. 

 

Doll Plans

-DD Miku. I don't really have a preference on which, but I've always loved her design and how versatile the sculpt is! I would love to get my own soon!

-Smartdoll Justice in cocoa. Still deciding on her. I really want her, but I'm still going back and forth on if I want to get her instead of my original plan. It was a tan SD13 girl but this sculpt is so cute I may not be able to resist adding her to the collection. Someone please talk me out of getting her lol

-DD Jupiter or Anthy. They are now my remaining grails and it will be awhile before I can bring them home, but one can hope

-An SD16 tan girl that will fit one half of my project couple. I still haven't found a sculpt I like, but I have hope to start her in 2024. She will be the first ever doll that I will be fully customizing.

I have a few plans:

 

- I'm waiting for my Azone Noix, maybe she'll arrive before 2024, but once she arrives I want to sew her a few new clothes. I've never seen an Obitsu 50cm Body irl.

- I'm going to japan at the end of march, so I'll spend most of my saved up money on doll related stuff 😄

- I wanna finish my Imomodoll Miko faceup,  also my Apsu faceup.. and get a new body for her. I'm not sure yet how I feel about Imomodoll bodies, otherwise I'll have to sell either Miko or Apsu... Or both who knows :o..

- Hopefully Imomodoll will release some more info about the 1/3 scale vinyl body, I'm more interested in that.

- Other than that.. I do have a wishlist of some dolls, who knows, maybe I'll be lucky and find a good deal in 2024

 

I only have 1 vinyl doll but I have a lot of plans for her. She is an Angel Philia Riko:

1. Finish Alpaca wig (Probably will finish this month)
2. Faceup commission from Angel Toast (talking to them now in will happen in February/March)
3. Find a Type G soft tan bust as current is a little too big (waiting to get marketplace access)
4. Clothes and Shoes (alice collection has a good selection)
5. Purchase a stand (alice collection)
6. Amp up my photography skills and take more photos

 

I do own multiple resin dolls and Blythe as well:

1. Finish 1/6 house diorama 
2. New wig for one of my YOSD's
3. Blythe wig!

 

No desire tp purchase any more dolls 🤍

A few things:

* almost guaranteed to purchase more clothes and accessories for my dolls. 

 * I still have one floating head. I need to get a body for Marisa. 

* Semi high priority. I wanna get another ddh 06 and get a fresh non yellowed face up for Alsty. I wanna see if someone can replicate her faceup as closer as possible with some adjustments

In 2024, I plan to start collecting Dollfies and Smart Dolls! These are my current plans:

- Get a Dollfie Dream Choice boy

- Get Smart Doll Mirai

- Get them a few outfits

- Try my hand out at making photo stories

- attend my first Dolpa in LA! I'm thrilled to attend my first one.

- buy some more clothes here and there for my Mikus

- maybe finally purchase another DD that's not a Miku lol

- maybe get back into SD, if something grabs my attention

- take a lot more photos of my dolls again

 

Mostly just get back into the hobby and enjoy dressing up and taking photos like I used to. 

All of my current vinyls I got this year, so my goal for next is to get them properly situated

First is lots of optional hands. I’ve always wanted that for my dolls, but ended up never doing it. 
im also considering third party skeletons. 2B’s legs have been driving me crazy, so I’d like to be free from worry. I like the possibility of more movement with a full skeleton replacement, but I also kind of like my dolls being *all Volks*, so I’ll need to get over that lol.

Otherwise it’d just be lots of clothes and accessories.

I eventually want to get a Dream Choice MDD but next year may be too soon after I got 3 dolls this year. I’ve also thought about trying for an icon, but I’d need to see how she’d fit into my collection before going for it. 

I really want to get a Pear Smartdoll. I really love the body sculpt, especially in combination with the cuddly outfits and sweeter face-ups. I'm excited to sew for them as well.

Speaking of sewing, I've been wanting to try making some doll clothes to sell. I have a few things I've made already, and some others that I've planned but need to actually get started on.

I also need to repaint Futaba and a few other dolls - they've been sitting faceless for way too long.

I would like this year to be the year I finally get a doll of Archer from Fate/Stay Night, but that's more dependent on what I think of Imomodoll's 65cm/68cm boy body, and how in-scale it is with my DDs.

My goal this year is to get a few of my DDH heads repainted by the same artists who has done 2 of my other girls.

Also to flesh out styles for some of my girls esp my DDPs and FINALLY get the last DD body I need for my floating 02 head!

-Definitely get bodies for my floating heads. 
-Start on my custom Misa Amane doll 

-Invest in getting a shelf/shelves or some other kind of display for my girls 

-Get a tan girl! 
-Idk if this is so much mine, but I recently had a friend over and was shocked over how enamored she was with my girls. She got a sewing machine for Christmas and wants to sew clothes for them! So I’m definitely excited for that! 

On topic:

*Finally decide on some bodies for my two Visuadoll Girls. Clean out the leftover parts. 
 

*Faceup for Cheryl for MDD body. 
 

Other:

*Off topic resin faceup practice. 
*Make doll friends. 
*Sew a few outfits. 
*Hopefully LA Dolpa! 

My plans are to hopefully find buyers for my 6 reminder Angel philia dolls, and find the perfect sculpt for my original character Panchita. I only plan to have 4 Dollfie dream

Not a lot of them, but some fairly important ones:

*Update Ludo's faceup. I'm not entirely happy with it tbh (especially after seeing all the beautiful dolls on here lol), so when the weather calms down/warms up again in the spring or summer, I'm gonna thicken her eyelashes, at least. With DECENT PENCILS this time lol.

*Receive my a la carte Minifee Honoka and decide what I'm gonna do with her! I think I'll send her away for a faceup this time, as I don't know much about resin BJDs yet. 

*Actually learn how to hand sew doll clothes. I don't have access to a sewing machine atm, and it's a good skill to have regardless. I'm not making it easy for myself though, considering the pattern I have calls for stretchy fabric.

*Going along with the last one, start planning a "dollsplay" for my girl so she can perhaps accompany me to my next con! (Even if I can't make her a matching outfit, I'll probably bring her in "street clothes" if there are any doll/BJD panels or meetups)
