DreamingFish Posted December 28, 2023 Hello all! I'm very new to vinyl dolls and I'm getting my first angel philia doll in the next couple of months. I was wondering if there's any special care angel philia dolls in particular require? My doll is gonna be a tan konatsu! I saw something about stuffing their middle with polyfill? Why is that? 🤔
ragnamuffin Posted December 28, 2023 Hello, congrats on your new doll. There are a few things to keep in mind with these dolls in particular. 4 hours ago, DreamingFish said: I was wondering if there's any special care angel philia dolls in particular require? Yes, you have to be very careful with the clothes you dress her in. Vinyl is prone to staining, and normally this can be removed with acne cream, but AP dolls in particular have blushing on their bodies that will also be removed by any creams you use, so you’ll want to make sure she never gets stained to begin with. Unfortunately, the only way to be 100% sure she won’t stain is to keep her naked or in white clothing, and to wash your hands meticulously when touching her. Dye can transfer not only from clothes, but practically any source via your hands. Black is particularly bad, but red, blue and purple also seem to stain like crazy. Sometimes you can mitigate this by washing and stain testing them with scrap vinyl, but the risk is always there. Even dust can stain these dolls, particularly since the vinyl on AP dolls is thinner than other vinyl dolls. 4 hours ago, DreamingFish said: I saw something about stuffing their middle with polyfill? Why is that? AP comes in two types—normal skin and Soft Skin. If she comes with Soft Skin (it will specify this in the listing), you might want to stuff her with polyfill so her body retains its shape. Soft Skin is particularly pliable and can easily bend out of shape. If this is yours, it looks like she does. If you’re buying her new, she won’t come with a wig or clothes either, so you’ll have to buy those separately. If you’re getting her used, you should check with the seller, since those don’t normally come with the doll by default.

Mine is a used Konatsu and she is indeed soft skin. I had one question, could you use different parts on a soft skin Angel philia that aren't soft skin? I'd like to change her bust and I saw different busts avaliable that weren't soft skin so I was wondering if the parts could mix or if that's not recommended 🤔

It usually says which busts go with which torsos in the product listing for those parts. Different torsos are bigger or smaller depending on the type (Types A to I). The parts will definitely fit if the bust and torso are the same type (e.g. Type C1 bust will definitely fit Type C torso), and most of the newer parts are designed to be compatible with other types, but sometimes there’s gapping if the bust is too big for the torso or won’t fit right if it’s too small. If you’re keeping the torso Soft Skin, you can kind of get around this by folding it in at the back, but it looks bad if it’s visible.
