RyuichiSakuma13 Posted January 2 (edited) Hopefully this is in the correct area to post this...? Mere hours before the new year, I took Miku to a friend's house so we could watch anime, eat fast food and then watch the ball drop on TV. I have one of the clear small dog/cat backpack that I had put Miku in so I could transport her safely. While taking her out of the cat backpack, I noticed her left leg seemed loose. When I lifted her out, her leg literally fell off. Apparently, stupid me forgot poor Miku is not a easily poseable BJD with ball joints and internal stringing, and can not sit crosslegged. Oof. I'm not terribly worried, I'm more mad at myself for breaking poor Miku! I know she's made to be able to have her parts easily replaced, but it still hurts me that I hurt my Miku. I've checked Cool Cat for hip and shoulder metal sheath sets, any idea which ones I should get for her DD III body? I also want to get the neck joint, parts that I've wanted to get anyways. I was hoping that I could get them quite a bit later in 2024, but oh well. Also, is there a tutorial or video that shows how to replace that hip, or better yet, add all of these parts to poor Miku? Welp, she was home for a year and four days before any damage occurred, I guess that's a good thing. baldylox Posted January 3 Sorry to hear that happened to your Miku! But it can be fixed! You can either order some metal reinforcement rings from Cool Cats website or you can get small zip ties and put them around the tube really tightly before sliding it back into her torso. I've done both methods before and they've both held for a long time. Unfortunately you have the older Miku body so you can't just order new legs to swap out. The newer F3 bodies use a different frame and attachment setup that won't work with the older stuff like you have. You could always look around for a junk SWS DD3 body or legs and then just swap them out. Or if the vinyl is damaged then pull it off and put your good vinyl on the unbroken inner frame bit. I hope you can get her all fixed up! Billy 1 I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

cluffy Posted January 3 (edited) Just wanna add I was in a similar situation (my DDS Marisa's leg joint cracked right out of the box)... I ended up having to buy thigh parts in a different skin color to hers & swap the internal frames, since it's hard to find the exact parts for discontinued bodies sometimes. It isn't too hard to remove them from the vinyl casing, so long as you have a hairdryer, and possibly a pair of pliers to remove the broken piece... just takes a decent amount of finagling! Hope Miku feels better soon! ♡ Edited January 3 by cluffy spelling orz
platinumhawke Posted January 3 If you have a hobby store nearby, you can get some plastic cement like Tamiya Extra Thin or Plastic Weld. Its a very thin solvent, so when you apply a small amount to the crack it'll flow in by capillary action. The cement works by fusing the pieces together to form a very strong bong. You'll only need to hold the parts together for 20-30 seconds, and any excess will evaporate off as it cures. Just make sure to use it in a well ventilated space as the fumes are pretty bad.

Do you mean change her entire frame, or just the thigh parts? :0 Updating only her internal thigh frame wouldn't be possible as DDf3 (the most current body) isn't compatible with any previous ones, skeleton/frame wise... iirc, the connecting hip pieces on DDIII vs DDf3 are completely different. I don't actually know for sure whether a DDf3 frame would fit inside the vinyl shells of the DDIII body or not, but I think it'd also be pretty difficult/close to impossible to get your hands on only the skeleton of a DDf3 body anyway :,) If anyone else know more about this feel free to chime in!!
RyuichiSakuma13 Posted January 19 (edited) I did quite a bit of homework on how to repair Poor Miku's leg. Between this thread, the kindness of one of our members here on the forum (thank you so very much , you know who you are) and some videos I found on youtube, I ended up buying a set of "Fortified Hip Joint Sheath" as well as a set of the shoulder join sheath repair parts from Cool Cat and fix her broken leg. I also put the second sheath on her good leg, as well as add the shoulder sheaths to both of her shoulders. I plan on getting the neck joint part as well later on down the line. Since this is the Care and Repair part of the forum, I thought I should post pics of the repair process. The leg. I'm so glad I put it in a gallon ziplock bag, that part would have gotten lost if I hadn't. Currently, I just want to look at her once again fully together while the super glue cures. I was super freaked out when I broke her hip! Don't worry, I plan on putting her in a outfit this weekend.
