Dollfie dream bodysuit fits almost perfectly. Just got to snip the sleeves a little to match where the wrist is.

Sorry my peanut brain thought Kakav was 1/4. Yeah the bodysuit from dollfie isn't going to work. What about using the taping method, if bodysuit isn't available?

The only other that can be done I think is have a spare body that you be ok with staining.

Sorry this all I can think of at the moment.

I can't have a spare body cause of budget reasons. :(

Not me being a bjd noob and not understanding what the heck the taping method is.. ._.

You could email new clover singing about the body suit and ask if you can buy one - that’s how I got mine.

http://newclover-singing.com/

Note that I ordered mine back in April though so I don’t know if they’re currently available, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. They aren’t listed on the site, but they weren’t when I ordered mine either - I just emailed and asked.

Taping is as it's implied. You tape the parts of where the doll and dark colour clothing makes contact. That way you have a barrier between them to prevent staining. I think regular masking tape would work.

Hm, alright.. its gonna be odd to try, but i could try it.. the only think thats not working in my mind is where the joints are (knees, elbows ect.) How do you work around them?

But i think i can def do that for the torso if i cant get a suit for Kakav.

Or am i able to use like saran wrap, show she is still flexible?

I wouldn’t really recommend taping. If you search around on the forums, you’ll find horror stories of the tape leaving marks or ruining the vinyl, and I imagine it would be even worse for Tinyfox with its special coating.

What you can do is tape the clothing (not the doll) on the inner parts that touch the doll’s skin. If this is not realistically feasible (because there’s too much dark fabric), your other options would be to wash the dark fabric a few times and/or line it in white (if you can sew). If you decide to wash it, make sure to wash the white pieces separately so they don’t turn grey.

That's a good question, I never had to tape at the joints, I wouldn't know, but I'm sure you could probably think of something.

As for the saran wrap, the same idea applies so I don't think it'll be too different. I just don't know if it's porous or not, even if it's a tiny bit. Cause if it's like silicone, the dye would seep through.
Somebody please correct me if saran wrap could work or not.

You could also remove the excess dye from the clothing to help if you're really worried by washing it with vinegar and salt in water. Let me just say, if the clothing is anything like Tinyfox Ashely outfit, you may want to do multiple time, at least more than twice. I only did it twice and that was a mistake.

When I bought it the tinyfox stocking was $17, which is likely more than what tinyfox charged themselves but I’m pretty sure the shipping was free. (In my case it was added to an existing order, but then not included with it by mistake and then sent separately).

There is also the option of using another taobao proxy to buy from tinyfox’s taobao store but I’m not able to browse taobao (they ban every account I make for literally no reason 🤷‍♂️)so can’t give you the link if there is one. That also might cost more in shipping than new clover singing, shipping from China is very expensive lately.

I wouldn't recommend using either tape or plastic/saran wrap. Both of them can cause damage to the vinyl/body material and saran wrap doesn't actually even prevent staining. A body suit is your best option, though washing the clothing as ragnamuffin said is also quite helpful even with a body suit. Volks does offer some stain prevention tape which is specifically made for its purpose and acts the same as a bodysuit, but at that point, you may as well just get a bodysuit since it'll last you far longer and cover the whole body.

Thank you, I'll let my mother know and when we can get the bodysuit, we will email them.

I rather not use TaoBao primarily cause of the proxy thing, maybe when im further along in the hobby, but certainly not now.

Until i get the bodysuit, i am just gonna get a cheap white colored dress for her to wear during non photos.

Ah alrighty, thank you for that, others were saying similar on the BJD discord.

Aaand.. how do you wash the clothes, so i know.. i figure its hand wash, but is there any specifics, or any specific soaps???

As far as I know, there are many different methods for washing doll clothes. The brand of soap doesn't matter very much as long as the soap you use is colourless (to prevent accidental colour transfer) and good for delicate clothing. I use the Soak brand since it checks both of those boxes and smells nice. Really though, you don't necessarily need soap to clean doll clothing, as you can just used plain water and have similar results. Here are the main methods of washing doll clothing that I am aware of:

- Rinse with hot water until the water runs clear (most heavily dyed clothing will have a bit of dye wash out in the water when washed this way, it doesn't affect the colour of the clothing at all) and then rinse with cold water.

- Briefly rinse the clothing, apply soap, and use a small scrub brush (a cheap toothbrush works great) to clean the clothing. Use soap sparingly and rinse with hot water as in the first method. Do as many rounds as are needed until the water runs clear. Make sure to rinse out all of the soap.

- Wrap it in a light-coloured pillow case, tie up the pillow case, and toss it in the washing machine with human laundry (make sure to only put it in loads of light-coloured clothing!). I don't recommend this approach for most doll clothing as it's pretty delicate and there's a higher risk of damaging the clothing, but sometimes this method is super helpful when you can't find any other way that works.

- I've heard people talk about using vinegar to remove excess dye from a piece of clothing, but it's not a recommended method either. Vinegar will break down the fibers of fabric over time so if you choose to use it, dilute the vinegar with water and only use small amounts even with dilution. Don't leave clothing to soak even in diluted vinegar for more than 5 mins, and always rinse it thoroughly and use soap to wash away the smell + any excess vinegar that may degrade the fibers.

After all of these methods, air dry the clothing by hanging it up somewhere. I usually drape it over/clothespin it to a clothing hanger and hang it somewhere with good airflow. These methods of washing help to remove the excess dye that is often present in heavily dyed clothing (anything with a dark or saturated colour) which helps reduce the possibility of staining. However, none of these methods guarentee that the clothing won't stain, so that's why it's recommended to both wash the clothing and use a body suit. Hope this helps!

I think ima end up doing the first method as it seems easiest for my lil pea brain.. (Plus does not seem to require soap cause i dont think i have clear soap rn))

Im thinking rinse it, let it dry overnight and then go and rinse it again and repeat?

Also one other question.. is this just a temporary fix or will staining no longer occur when the clothes are washed?

I wouldn't recommend drying it overnight after each rinse... I usually just rinse it until the water runs clear and then do the cold rinse, then call it finished.

It's not a temporary fix in the sense that the clothing won't become "unwashed" over time. You do it once (maybe twice if the first time wasn't thorough enough) and then you just leave it. It won't completely prevent staining, it just helps to remove the excess dye to reduce the chances of staining. That's all. That's why it's good to wash the clothing and use a body suit as a double precaution sort of thing.

Here is the link directly to their taobao listing of the 1/6 and 1/4 bodysuits if it is needed for future reference.

The lead time seems to be half a year right now, so they wouldn't be in stock currently anyway. Personally I prefer shopping from taobao via proxy, but shipping to Europe is pretty cheap and quick with all the exclusive tariffless options the proxy I use has.

If your trying to get stains out what I did for my tiny fox doll was used some skin care cream, wrapped the area in Saran  wrap then applied heat (via a heated blanket) for a couple hours you can’t even tell there is a stain anymore , just because because the first time I did it I accidentally used a rice sock and made a burn on her bum cheek!
