Oh, hey, Mirai!

Yesterday, my first Smart Doll, Mirai, finally arrived! I was so excited, that I haven't gotten around to setting up my ring light yet, hence the shoddy photo, haha. I plan to take some nicer ones soon! She arrived in exactly 10 days, which was a pleasant surprise, since the Smart Doll website said to allow up to fifteen days before she even shipped.

First off, I was truly blown away by her quality. She's the first doll of her type I've ever owned or even handled, so that was a pleasant surprise. Mirai's got a nice heft to her! I'm having so much fun posing her, and letting her hang out with me while I do various things around the house, like make tea or play Project Diva. I was a bit nervous about the noisiness of Evolve frame, since it sounded incredibly loud in a few videos I'd seen of it, but really, her hips are the loudest joints, and even they aren't nearly as bad I'd feared.

I even got her bag signed!

Overall, I truly believe Mirai was worth every penny, and I can't wait to get her some cute clothes once I get paid again (the Dollfie Dream white ruffled blouse and pink frilly skirt are calling me...)! The downside? Miss Mirai is already making puppy eyes at me because she wants a friend, and I'm weak-willed... for now, she'll have to do with making some online friends with your dolls! Feel free to let some of them introduce themselves to Mirai. :)

Congrats - Mirai was who got me interested in anime dolls in the first place, although my first was DDdy Towa.

Is this the ruffle blouse set you want? It was one of the first outfits I bought for Towa. Sadly the necktie has broken and needs a bit of repairing.

I think we have the pink version too although it may or may not be MDD sized. This is one of the many Volks outfits where they released multiple sizes and colour options.

@Xiongmao, Yes, that outfit in pink is the one I'm planning to get! According to the Volks website, it supposedly fits busts up to M, so I'm hoping the Dollfie M bust is similar to Smart Doll's Small/default bust.

Your Towa is just the sweetest! I just adore Miku's wig on her. I'm tempted to get it for Mirai! Clearly, I also need to get a DDdy girl at some point, because that outfit in blue is stunning!

They usually list as equivalent, but imo the boobs on the dd m-bust are larger than SmD default. I've never tried the fit on the pink one on a SmD.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

It’s going to be a tight fit, if it fits at all. The SmD default bust (S size) is definitely a larger cup size than DD S bust—it sits somewhere between S and M, but much closer to M—but the main problem is the band size. SmD have a much thicker torso and their backs are naturally arched, so they often don’t look quite right in clothes made for DD, which has a flatter, more modest silhouette.

The usual recommendation is to use clothing made for DDdy so they fit the SmD’s curves better, but really, clothing tailored specifically to SmD is best.

That's a good point.

You could try Dolldelights, dollremi, or Dollgerie for SmartDoll specific outfits.

Thank you so much! This forum and its members have been so helpful as I learn more about Smart Doll, Dollfie Dream, and the like. It's definitely good that I decided to bring it up here before I made a mistake!

I'd actually wondered about how Dollfie Dream Dynamite clothes would fit on the Smart Doll body, because I just love the blue skirt on the DDdy sized version of the ruffled blouse and skirt set. I do plan to eventually get Dollfies as well, so even if they don't fit perfectly, it won't be a huge loss, though it would certainly be a shame to spend so much on clothes that I can't get on Mirai!

I'll definitely have to look into Smart Doll-specific clothes! I'd shyed away from the official clothes since a single outfit would run me at least $150, hence my looking at Dollfie clothes, but I also want Mirai to have clothes that will fit her properly.

Congrats on your Mirai. I agree, it is super fun to have a doll buddy hang out with you while doing stuff at home.

Plenty of clothing made for Dollfie Dream fits decently well on Smart Dolls - but sometimes it can get a bit tricky.  As @ragnamuffin stated earlier, SmDs have a larger band size than DDs, so even if a SmD S-Sust has a smaller cup size than a DD M-Bust, the actual bust size may be larger.

In my experience, outfits that include DD L-Bust in the fitment listing usually work best on SmDs from S- to L-bust. - And so do outfits that also list SD13.

Stuff that only goes up to DD M-bust may barely fit a SmD S-Bust, but sometimes one or two buttons might not close properly.

Outfits that are only for DD SS- or S-Bust will likely not work.

DDdy sized outfits should be fine for somewhat loose fitting clothing. In my experience, more form fitting DDdy outfits only really fit SmD L-Bust (discontinued) without looking odd. - And this also depends a bit on how the specific outfit is cut.

I can recommend checking out TTYA - their clothing style is very similar to early-day Smart Doll, their prices are reasonable and their quality is great. I also never had any of their Items stain (except for jeans).

Atelier-Shien also makes some really nice clothes specifically for SmD, although they are a little more on the pricier side.

If you can sew, both Danny and Maruko Halu (who I believe designs some of the clothes sold on the SmD store) have released patterns for some pieces so you can make them yourself.

Unfortunately most of it skews modern casual, so if you want to dress her in other styles, you’ll be forced to default to Volks and other third party brands that might not fit the way you want.

Re:sizing and fits, I found this out the hard way when I reshelled Ion from a DD (and later DDS) with M-Bust to SmD Mirai with S-Bust. Outfits that previously had a bit of slack in the chest are now quite tight, sometimes not closing all the way, and skirts sit higher. Sadly she is now too busty for my favourite Volks kimono 😢 (But it’s okay because she looks lovely in the new FCS outfit I got for her ❤️)

This Alice set is one of my favourite DD outfits. It fits DDdy as well as everybody else.

Yor Forger's wearing it btw. It's a Volks outfit on the Tenshi No Koromo label.

I don't know where Kizuna's outfit originated - it's something we found on Yahoo Japan Auctions.

@Xiongmao, they look absolutely lovely! I just love dolls in ruffles and bows galore. Yor makes a great blonde, too!
