Limited Dream Choice Head Release?

I was browsing the Volks USA store, and saw this:

"This popular head-type is normally available only through Dream Choice at Doll Point stores in Japan. Since the mouth on this head-type is flat, you can create a lot of different expressions!

※This product is an event limited item. It will not be restocked once it's sold out."

Has this kind of release happened in the Volks online stores before? Could we see more Dream Choice-exclusive heads released like this?

They actually do this fairly regularly, although I've only seen one or two heads used.

DDH-12 is definitely one of the more unwhelming of the possible options, given it's essentially DDH-1 without a mouth. I really hope to see some of the more exciting ones out eventually, like the new "boy" heads.

That’s what makes it so special to faceup artists and people who collect custom heads—DDH-01 is far and away the most popular head for custom MDDs, and nearly all have to be modded to get rid of the unsightly default mouth and eyelids, so when the DDH-12 (which is basically the 01 without these features and is normally Dream Choice exclusive) is available, people gobble it up.

DCH16 was also given a limited release like this. They tend to be GL items on the international store nowadays although I don’t think there’s been one for a good while.

There’s a new VS/VIP/GL-only item every Volks News cycle though and the chance of upcoming ones being a Dream Choice head is never 0! I wish they’d do a vote on which ones people would like to see though, I’m personally not a fan of 16 myself outside some of the more ambitious mods.

I guess I can understand the popularity of the DDH-12, then. My absolute favorite sculpt is DDH-19, so I'm crossing my fingers it gets an international release eventually too. That sweet little goofy smile...

I'm unsure how to keep up with Volks news beyond this forum tbh, is it just regularly checking the website and their social media for these kind of announcements?

Their twitter is where they’re the most active, but they also have an email newsletter. You can toggle receiving it/not receiving it under your account info.

I did get the DDH12 in semi-white.... It's on an Imomodoll body I got for it. I just really like the flat mouth since it gives me freedom. Plus it was an MDD head and I wanted it for a 1/4 scale body so....

This is good to know. I don't use Twitter anymore, but I'm pretty content with using this forum mostly hehe....

DDH12 is pretty cute with the droopy eyes ... sadly semi-white is already gone, otherwise I might have grabbed myself one as well.
