Konosuba: DD Aqua

Aqua's lack of, um.....unmentionables is kind of a plot point/recurring joke, from what I know of the series? So it is a bit funny she comes with them when a lot of collab dolls don't. But it's not like a single pair of underwear will significantly add to the fullset price, so it's just something kinda comedic to note for silly blue anime crybaby. That said, given the choice, would much rather a fullset doll came with a bodysuit or wigcap that will likely get used rather with underwear that is sort of optional.

Can I just say I think it’s hilarious that they have a note on her advertisement mentioning that no water actually comes out of her fans.

Maybe we're overthinking it. The panties aren't for her... but for us to pretend we have the Steal skill.

Are they only releasing Aqua this time? I thought last year they released both Shin Sato and Ciel?

Usually there are two DD, but not always. I think the first Dolpa of the year, it is often just one DD. 

I just assumed production was currently preoccupied with all those MikuNTs (especially all the Dolpa preorders) so a single DD release was easier. But the surprise for me was actually that this release was Aqua and not the FF14 twins - only because I think this is the first time we’ve ever seen actual prototypes of dolls this far in advance. Announcements a doll is happening can come a year or more in advance, sure, but typically when you actually see the prototype it’s the doll that’s coming next (or up for preorder).

I know it’s because they wanted to show them off at FanFest and all but it’s interesting to think about how early or late some prototypes may be ready, because we probably don’t see most of them until certain times even if they’ve been ready a good while.

They could be the next pre-order project. I know it's unusual to have such an early reveal, but if SE mandated it they'd do it. 

might just be me, but her face sculpt really reminds me of ddh-14... very similar chin/cheek and mouth shape!! even though i've never seen a single second of konosuba, i've always thought aqua's design was very cute in figure form, and her dd is no exception.. i love how smiley her dd is! :3

Also, they no longer sell Bratz anymore in the U.S, though I really don't have an opinion about that fact though.

I’ll actually be in Tokyo when they’re having Dollpa, but I don’t plan to attend and I personally would probably get another Dream Choice before buying a character doll.

Her listing is now on the Volks international page. 68,000 yen base price. 74,800 yen with tax.

Sales info on the Dolpa page. Just says "Cart Sale" so I'm assuming that means a limited first come first, served sale.

I've reserved time on my calendar for it. Really don't want to miss her.

Their website was working. I managed to get Aqua, and the clothes I wanted without any problems.

I was shocked. I think I got the dreaded site overloaded message once right at the start, but after that I easily got Aqua, the Sakura Miku outfit, and some other supplies. I did have some problems using a credit card, but PayPal saved the day for me.

Since they have updated the DD body does anyone know typically how long before it becomes a standard issue or available on the DDC catalog?

Will be making a trip to Tokyo in June and was hoping to add someone with the new body frame

I'm in the same boat.  I'm planning a trip to Japan in May of 2025, and wondering if a Dream Choice in tan on the DD f-3 2.0 body will be an option by then.

If they are updating the DDS & DDDy, I think they will release it after those are ready, but I'm betting they will want to sell out of 1.0 stock first.

I guess 2024 is the year of the updates...
Obitsu is also updating in Aug 2024 which will affect Azone and Parabox dolls.
I hope I can get it this June but I highly doubt it...

One other thing, they may do what they did with MDD and Dream Choice will sell out of 1.0 before Dream Choice moves to 2.0.

I think they are refreshing wig designs too, I've heard a lot of wigs are marked as discontinued in the stores.

Wonder if it will follow the MDD where the back of the neck has a visible joint. I have been trying to find details of the structure.... the Obitsu GGR had more details which looks like its going in the direction of Azone where the outer skin is curvier. But the ones for DD visually looks the same.

Definitely want to know if this will be available to international owners. I remember my original Miku came with a form for a wig but at the time it was limited to Japan owners.

I can't read Japanese, but from the English translations it didn't sound like MDD was being discontinued. They said production was halted, but stay tuned for future product news. I do recall people worrying about that though. 

I am curious if they will release DD 2.0 base bodies with DDS 2.0, or do we wait until a limited DDS gets the body to get DDS 2.0. It seems really unlikely they won't upgrade DDS, they seem very popular.

It said ‘end of production’ (生産終了), which was left intentionally vague so people would rush to buy up all their leftover stock, which is exactly what happened. The Japanese doll community on Twitter had a collective meltdown about it, so it wasn’t clear that there would be a successor to the body even in Japanese.

Edit: The machine translation literally has it as ‘discontinuation’ 💀
