Persiflage Posted March 8, 2024 I think an introduction post is in order, so hi everyone! I got into BJDs last year and I'll receive my first doll later this month. For the time being I'm all about resin, although I enjoy seeing vinyl dolls as well - the 1/4s especially are adorable and I might get a Tinyfox somewhere down the line. My presence will be fairly limited due to that, but I'm happy I've found a welcoming community here. See you around!
ButterBiscuits Posted March 10, 2024 Hello and welcome to the community! I'm also quite fairly new around here too. I hope you enjoy your stay and that your doll safely makes it home to you! ☺️

Giragira Posted March 12, 2024 Welcome! I hope your doll gets to you soon and it's everything you hoped for. There's a resin channel here so if you feel like uploading pictures there when the time comes I would be happy to see them!
blisseycake Posted March 13, 2024 Hello fellow newbie! I'm really curious to see how you like vinyl compared to resin

From what I understood, vinyl MJDs should feel somewhat like big action figures, which I am acquainted with. When it comes to resin, I have no idea, but I like the simpler engineering and how well certain bodies can pose. I'm into drawing and some photography, so good posing is a priority. I'd like to take a smaller doll (like 1/4) outside for photoshoots in the future, but the hobby seems to be extremely niche in this country and I think I might attract unwanted attention outside of the two large nerd conventions that happen yearly. blisseycake Posted March 14, 2024 Ahh, that's understandable, even in my big city with a bunch of weirdos I feel weird actually being one of the weirdos. But ehh, one day I'll gather the courage and the time to actually take some pics, I hope... And whoops -- I took "got into BJDs last year" to mean that you actually obtained some resin BJDs, but it didn't cross my mind that it only referred to the interest. (And that's fair...I'd been into BJDs for several months before trying to actually get one too lol)

Yeaaaah I'm still in doll limbo She's not here yet and I think she will ship later this month or early April. I lurked around and learned about dolls for about half a year before I took the plunge. I had no idea they existed - both the anime vinyls and the resin ones. I always thought dolls were Monster High/Barbie or the old-fashioned ones that most of the time don't even have a real, articulated body. Especially the resin ones are like movable sculptures, it blew my mind. Over that time I thought of getting a cheap doll in a small size like 1/6 to test the waters but in the end I knew I had to save up and get what I really wanted (a resin 1/3). After some 4 months of waiting I'm really dying to have her at home and in the meanwhile I registered here. I'm probably gonna have issues and questions, so I'm happy there's a resin section here.
