If by chance

i know this'll probably never happen but...

If somehow chance occurs and some crazy, honest, generous people or some person are in or joins this forum saying "hey I am willing to do this. I'll go and put entries to the Volks Raffle for all who reply, if anyone wins, I'll ship the doll(s) free of charge if more than one person wins." then after the raffle ends, they just go.

Wouldn't that be crazy?

I mean, what ensures they can be trusted? And why would they want to?

1. Hmm... well, I can agree with you. You're not the first to purpose that we can't trust them, this would be just another piece of the puzzle...

2. There are generous people in this world and there are some people who do REALLY want to get a BJD. It might not be simple to get one though, I don't understand or know why they would, and motive ain't my thing. But I can tell generosity. Maybe they're doing this to make some dreams of the wanting populace real? Be some human with some money to waste and make a dream come true out of sheer luck? Doing this out of kindness?

I really don't know.

I have sold dolls and given the buyers an extra doll or lots of extra clothes/stuff. However, I have never just given someone a doll or something that hasn't already purchased from me. Unfortunately it's a luxury hobby and sometimes I'm okay with letting go of stuff for 'free', but I don't think I would gift a doll to a random person. It might set the expectation that they for whatever reason should have people give them whatever they want. There are BJD giveaway groups, but if you win you must host your own giveaway

Interesting.

Very interesting.

A little... contradicting, but I'd say that this is still very interesting.

if a kind stranger wanted to enter the lottery/raffle for me and covered shipping or fees? That alone is insanely generous of them!

A dear friend gifting you one? Sure! Super kind, absolutely amazing ~♥   Complete stranger? every alarm and red flag goin off. This is a luxury hobby - someone offering a $800+ toy for free would be a bit sus

I think I phrased things badly. When someone orders from me, in the past I have given them free dolls/items. That free doll or item is generally something I've been trying to sell and haven't been able to for a really long time (looking at you Guard Love Cherri lol). The person getting the doll or item doesn't know they are getting it and certainly didn't ask. Sometimes it's people I've interacted with in the past and sometimes not.

If someone straight out asked me for a doll for free, I'd say no. I value my time and money, but I also value relationships and especially repeat customers. That's just me. Hopefully that clears up some of that.

I can understand this! You gotta trust and build that with your buyer, giving away free items because you're giving it out of good faith and someone being patient with the seller during a hard time is a great thing to do! (Got a wig included in my Chaos head due to the sellers home getting the flu.)

Nope. I think this response is what I was looking for:
