Making the hole for a MDD bigger to fit a DD3

Would it work if I drilled the hole for the spine to go into a MDD head once i get the one I bought to be bigger to fit on such a doll?

No, no adjustments are needed.

There is no such thing as an MDD head, all vinyl heads Volks makes fit all their vinyl bodies. Some just look silly on a larger or smaller body because of how the facial features are arranged. DDH-01 for example is considered an MDD head because it's got a more childish face, but it totally fits on a DD body. You could even go in the other direction and put 2B or Y'shtola on an MDD body if you wanted to! It just looks bad. 😂

Actually there are several specific MDD sized heads.  Most are character dolls like Kudo, Cirno and Louise but there are a couple of blanks too like the DDH10.

Yes, all the vinyl heads will fit on any vinyl body and as you say some do look a bit odd when on an MDD or DDP body.  The 01 is used for a lot of custom MDD girls because it's so easy to modify.  But it all depends on the face up as to how one can look.  The 01 head is my absolute favorite head that Volks makes and I've found that it is super versatile and looks great on any size body you put it on.... as long as the faceup matches.

Sure, they all have a similar look overall but you can still get a huge variety from the 01 that looks mature, teenaged or childlike.  It's all in how you paint and style them.
