*In a thick Australian accent*

"That's not a knife, THIS here's a knife!"

SLICE SLICE

With the wrapping on the handle, that's no knife, it's a SHANK. LOL

Very cool tho, I like the style.

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

It is a cool knife! How did you make it?

Yes, that Dundee quote was hilarious

The knife looks great. Now just some metalizer paint and will be even better.

Is it resin or polystyrene (HIPS) or something else ?

@Baldylox: I remember that scene

@AerisAquata: Thanks, instructions below

@milkytea: It's just an act Posing for the camera

@Kumi: Thanks, it's made of Pla-Plate (Styrene Sheets)

Tools used:

Rotary tool with sanding bits, filing bits and drilling bits

Sandpaper 400~1500 grit

Polishing compound

Plastic scribe

Metal ruler

French curve

Modelling clippers

Pla-Plate (Styrene Sheets) 1mm

Pencil

Plastic Cement

Plastic Clamps

Diamond files

Elastic cord (less than 1mm, i forgot the thickness)

Instructions:

I 1st searched the net for something easy to build and came across this http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/File:Strider_Knives_Fixed-_HT-S_Cord_Black.jpeg. I saw a lot of images of combat knives, but this was the best i saw that was flat and easy to make.

Using inkscape (vector based image program), i set the grid to mm. Then imported the image and rotated the image until the knife is horizontal. Next scaled down the image so that the length of the knife is 74mm , then traced an outline of the knife.

Using the outline as a guide i drew the knife on a sheet of 1mm styrene sheet, using a french curve to draw the blade. Using a metal ruler and plastic scribe to cut it out, and roughly removed excess plastic using clippers, but making sure i didn't cut to close to the guide. (I noticed that i said "using" a lot)

Next cut an another strip and glue them together with cement and clamp them together til dry (about a minute or so). This will make the thickness to 2mm. The reason for using 1mm sheets is that it would be easy to find the center point during the shaping phase, and also i only had 1mm sheets at home.

Now you have 2 mm piece of plastic that looks nothing like a knife. To fix that, get the rotary tool and screw in the sanding bit. Then sand off the excess plastic following the guide, switching over to a filing bit for the more detailed areas. Then finish off with some diamond files.

Now you have 2 mm piece of plastic that looks like a cardboard cutout of a knife. Time to sharpen it. Draw the blade on both sides and use the rotary tool with a sanding bit and sand at an angle making sure that you don't over sand pass the center point. Switch to the other side and repeat. Finish off with diamond files.

From 400 to 1500 sandpaper sand the knife and round off the edges. Then finish with some polishing compound. Drill a small hole at the hilt and wrap the elastic cord around the handle twisting on each side. and tie off at the end (I just guessed how it was done)

Now you have a DD knife, you could paint it before wrapping the handle.

Wow, thank you for such detailed instructions! I'm not a weapons type person, but the knife is very beautifully made!

Ayaka says she wants one, but that the blade is entirely too small. ;p

That knife is pretty awesome though.
