I have some newbie questions, please help me...

Okay so I'm just getting into the Dollfie Dolls and I have some questions. My main question is what is the difference between Dollfie Dream Dolls and Dollfie Plus dolls? The only reason I ask this is because my budget is pretty tight and although the Dollfie Dream dolls are beautiful they are really out of my price range. But from what I see no one really talks about the cheaper Dollfies such as the Dollfie plus, Dollfie Neo-EB, EB beauty model, and Excellent beauty model. Now I am just getting into these so I don't mean to offend or anything I just really need some help deciding to wait and save up for a Dollfie Dream or are one of the other Dollfies okay for now.

You probably should ask in the Off-topic dolls area.

In the main forum we discuss mostly DD, DDdy and MDD, but in the off-topic I already saw topics about Pure neemo, smal obitsu... If someone has thes kind of dolls, probalby there is the best place to find them.

I too want more info about these girls, as I ended with 3 dolls of these... They have no face-up, and I don't know anything about them... only that 01 looks like vynil and does not have hair, and 2 are hard plastic with rotted hair....

that is not much info, no?

Summon ritual is over. And finally complete.

If you could supply us with links we might be able to help more, cos I'm not familiar with Dollfie Plus at all.

Dollfie plus, NEO, EB, etc

From what I see, they are also made by VOLKS. The difference would be that they are smaller at 27cm. VOLKS have discounted this product I think, meaning that they dont make these anymore. Since they are discounted it might be harder to find things for them. It looks like the body doesn't hid their joints as well as the DD. Maybe they are a prototype or the grandparents of the DDs. I find their headmolds leaning towards the Super Dollfies, epecially their eyes.

Dollfie Dream

A very popular doll and VOLKS have put a lot of focus into this line. There is always new things coming out for them making it a very exciting doll to have. DDs are bigger than the plus, neo, and eb. In my opinion, biggers doll are more fun to play with. Their size makes them look more realistic in photographs. VOLKS can also pack in more detail in terms of their body, clothes, and face because of their size.

In my opinion, everything about a dollfie dreams is beautiful, be it their head sculpt, or their body (looks and articulation). But I agree they are not cheap. It's part of the hobby though and I think they are worth every penny.

Top left, Plastic =)

Thank you~

Now I see what we're talking about!

I think it's best to hold off and save up for a Dollfie Dream, I think if you settle with Dollfie Plus because it's cheaper you will be disappointed.

I'll admit for a long time I too was confused as to why the little Dollfie Pluses and EBs were a tenth the price of a Dollfie Dream. Now that I've had a Dollfie EB and two Dollfie Dreams, I can elaborate a bit on what makes them different from one another.

The Dollfie Pluses and EBs are much smaller than DDs, about half the size. Their size is comparable to a Barbie, and some Dollfie Plus bodies can fit into Barbie clothes. Some models come with squishy closed eyed heads you paint eyes onto and can root like you would a Barbie or My Little Pony, while there are a few open-eyed, wig wearing heads. They come in both male and female. However, due to their small size, they have no internal armature, and are jointed fairly simply. There are a few limited edition Dollfie Plus and EBs out there, but Volks seems to be paying less attention to them now than to their larger lines like Super Dollfie and Dollfie Dream.

Dollfie Dreams are 1/3 scale, somewhat taller than common large dolls like American Girl, and similar in size to Super Dollfie 13, Super Dollfie Grafiti, Iplehouse YID, and Luts Delf and Senior Delf, and can sometimes share clothes with the aforementioned doll lines. There are a few heads that come pre-rooted with hair and have closed eyes you paint on, but they are less popular than the harder heads that take wigs. Currently Dollfie Dreams are female only. Out of over 60 open-eyed, wig-wearing heads, currently only 5 are standard; the rest are limited edition. These limiteds are mostly licensed anime and game characters, with a few being Volks originals.

Here's the big thing that makes DDs so much more than Dollfie Pluses though: the internal frame/armature. The larger size gave them more engineering freedom, so DDs have a complicated skeleton inside them. This definitely took more time to develop and probably requires more stringent quality control. I will say that it's completely worth the extra cost though. The Dollfie EB girl I have constantly sheds her limbs, especially her lower arms which pop off at the elbow if you so much as sneeze in her direction. My DD girls on the other hand only come apart if I decide to pull them apart (for either maintenance or for getting them into certain outfits), and pop back together easily as well. When I pose them, they almost always will hold that pose. I've had Nanoha on a stand standing on one leg, in heels, for nearly a week and she hasn't budged. XD

If you'd like to try a smaller vinyl doll to see if you'd like to save up for a DD girl, I'd suggest going with Obitsu rather than Dollfie Plus. While DD vs 1/3 Obitsu is a much closer race, Obitsu's 1/6 bodies completely blow the 1/6 Dollfies out of the water. Granted, they're not as pretty, but they are much better engineered.

Hi there! sorry, i read you and well then.. that means that EB beauty 27cm dolls and dollfie plus are the same size and probably can swap the chests? or there arent any chests for this type of doll anymore since is discontinue am i right? Also i have a question regarding the heads that has already hair sticked. Does that means that they are just for popping in the body, not like a detachable wig right?

thanks for your time

Hey! Yeah, the previous information is a leetle out of date. XD (For example, we've just had our first DD boy announced, and now there are 10 standard heads and over 100 limited ones!)

The 1/6 Volks lines are indeed discontinued, so finding parts is going to be a real pain. I don't know for certain if Dollfie Plus parts are compatible with the EB Beauty line, since I've never seen a Dollfie Plus in person, but. . . I kinda doubt it. As I recall, Dollfie Plus are resin while the EB Beauty line is hollow plastic. :/ You may very well be stuck on that front.

As for heads, yeah, if the head (whether DD size or 1/6 scale) says that it's "rooted", then the hair is embedded into small holes in the head and can't be swapped out or removed. Usually rooted heads have painted eyes, too, instead of separate eyeballs. I have to say, I'm. . . not that much of a fan of rooted heads. XD Rooted hair is harder to keep neat in travel than wigs (wigs you can store aside in a plastic bag to keep them from getting tangled), you're much more limited in style, and if you do decide to re-root at some point, well, re-rooting is tedious as hell.

Unfortunately, that's the absolute extent of my 1/6 knowledge these days. Once I went 1/3 with my DDs, I never really looked back!

Dollfie Plus are plastic, just like the EB Beauty line. One of my Pullips is on a Dollfie Plus body, and I used to have a couple on EB Beauty bodies.

The parts are likely not compatible. Dollfie Plus had a smaller waist and smaller rib cage, the bust piece didn't extend as far down the torso, etc. etc. etc. Dollfie Plus also seemed to have different skin colors than EB Beauty (Dollfie Plus was more tan/orangey) so the colors probably wouldn't match either.

To my knowledge, Volks never sold parts for either (outside of extra hands, feet, and heads), so the likelihood of finding just a bust piece is really low.

Honestly, tho, 27cm bodies are really cheap (especially compared to DDs) so it's not even worth buying separate bust pieces for a doll. Just get a whole new body with the bust size you actually want. If you shop around on the 2nd-hand market, EB Beauty bodies aren't impossible to find (or you could just get an Obitsu body instead).

. . .I'd either go Obitsu, or save up enough to reshell to a DD, personally. The EB Beauty bodies look nice, but their construction absolutely SUCKS.
