hello, just curious if anyone else has noticed angel philia has dropped in popularity recently. while dollfie dreams, smart dolls, and newer companies seem to be exploding in popularity i've noticed ap collectors selling off their dolls and not many people getting into ap. anybody have any thoughts or explanations on the trend? or is it just me lol

I don't have the impression that they are losing popularity, as in any hobby people resell (especially in these difficult times of inflation) but many sales posts don't stay long so there is still interest imo. I sometimes myself put some Angel Philia outfits up for sale and they sell pretty fast (mostly on Vinted). But it's certain that ecchi models will never be mainstream. Clearly AP dolls are niche, even the soft ones. And as others mentioned, the size between SD and MSD puts off some collectors, as well as the design of the bodies. Let's not forget either that AP is a very small company, they don't have the marketing force Volks or Smartdoll has.

I have the feeling that it's some social networks that are losing popularity, people post less on them, especially Facebook, or even Flickr that we saw dying for a few years, that is completely dead now. While there is still some DD posted, the Angel Philia side is clearly dead on there.

Personnally it's the way around, I started the vinyl side of the hobby with AP, then I bought some DD and I'm currently reselling all my DD to focus exclusively on my beloved AP 😄

Well, I started the hobby with APs and focused exclusively on APs, although now I stopped because 4 dolls is my limit, at most I look for new pieces and new heads for variety.

From what I see on Mandarake, the used or new models that are put up for sale, and also the pieces, never last long, so I don't think there is a decline in popularity. If anything, it has never been very high precisely because it is a niche product.

As far as I'm concerned, two were the main factors that brought me closer. Coming into contact with ads on Mandarake and with photos around the internet, they slowly carved out a place in my heart. I like the ecchi component of APs, even if I'm not a fan of the excesses proposed by Tommy (even if I'm not any less XD), but the decidedly more affordable price also influenced my choice, then as now.

I had always been tempted by the vinyl doll market, but seeing prices close to 100,000 yen always kept me at a safe distance. I realize that then between clothes, accessories and everything else I probably ended up spending a lot more, but it is a different type of expense. 45,000 yen at the time marked the contract, not that today we are very far from those prices.

As for the clothes I found some difficulties, but not too many as you can see in my topic, in the end between TcDoll, MSD clothes, even SD size clothes or directly azone or obitsu50, often the exaggerated curves compensate for the length of some garments, other times you have to make do, but mainly they have to be sexy and with a lot of exposed skin.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

I'm referring to the photos on the official blog involving vibrators, gagballs, scratches and bruises, subtle violence and submission, etc.

O.O Wow!

I've seen the vibrator control boxes in some of the outfit photos, but not any of the other stuff. I can get toys as props or BDSM, that's all harmless, but references to actual violence are pretty icky.

She's a I-Type Body in Super Whitey, with a custom faceup Type-M head (the link is for hotpants only obviously).

I can't find a doll exactly like her in the catalogue.

Edit: maybe Lena? https://quarantotto.biz/angelphilia/type-iボディ-ホワイティ-soft-skin-〜case-of-lena〜 <彩色済みp-01>-9828.html
