Is f3 body better?

Recommended Posts

CrazyDollPerson

I am looking at the difference between the f3 Karin and the prior version. I really don't know the differences. Is the f3 really better, or is the previous version better. I had several f3 bodies and I didn't care for them, so I am wondering if I would prefer the prior version. Can anyone give me the run down on the differences, pros and cons?

I'm not sure if this helps, but this thread has some comparisons?

I know DDf3 was supposed to be an upgrade of the DDIII body. Now they have the 2.0, which is an even more upgraded body, but severely limited as to what types they have due to it being so new. For example, there's no 2.0 Boy body. I always liked the DDf3 over DDIII personally, but for each their own!

The newer bodies are "objectively" better in both aesthetics and possibility. But imo unless you play with your dolls often, dress them in more revealing outfits or want them displayed in more dynamic poses. Then it doesn't really matter.

Thought for me, i do appreciate the silhouette changes in f3 and f3 2.0

@Orchid/orchid dolls used to have a really great article on her website directly comparing the dds III and dds f3 bodies with pictures, but for some reason it's no longer accessible... if i can somehow get it to work, i'll edit this with the link!!

I would say the f3 is an improvement over the DDIII, but not as significant an improvement as the f3 2.0 is over the original f3.

The movements of the f3 are smoother.

The frame is adjustable, so you can tighten or loosen most things as needed.

It looks better at the hips and shoulders.

Posing is similar, but the hands and feet have more motion at the joints with the f3. The upside to the original DDIII hands without the swivel, is that the hands won't swivel around on their own if you pose them holding something like a sword.

F3 isn't as squeaky when you pose them.

It might be easier to ask what you didn't like? That way we can tell if the DDIII differs on those points.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Everything felt loose, like the dolls would buckle under their own weight when standing up. Feet would come out of the socket very easily. They were brand new, but I have never experienced that before. People said I could take it apart and tighten it, but I don't trust myself taking things apart.

From the issue you are describing, that's exactly what you need to do. It's really not that hard, but I would start with the upper body and get comfortable with adjusting that. The upper body is pretty easy to take apart and put back together. The most challenging part about disassembling them is getting the hips on the torso, but there is a full guide for each body type here: https://dollfie.volks.co.jp/dd/support/basebody/

Your other option is to go to a doll meet and ask for help.

The DDIII has no adjustment to be done, but that means as parts wear out, you can't tighten them, and you can't get new DDIII parts. I don't think you can avoid taking any DD apart periodically, unless you just put them on a stand and never play with them. Things are going to work loose and you will need to fit them back together.

It's really not so bad, you'll be fine!  Once you get the first few pieces off (noggin and arms), it's a lot less intimidating to work your way down the body and fiddle with things.  It's not made of porcelain, so it's forgiving of some clumsiness - just go at your own pace.

I was nervous the first time going blind into a doll body to tighten up some screws and sand off some boobs (and my first time restringing a resin doll umpteen years ago was nerve-wracking), but once you get over that initial hurdle it isn't nearly as intimidating.

Thank you both, that is good to know! I did sell all the dolls but since I can't seem to sell the clothing I am debating on getting Karin again, as I really did like her otherwise. I just felt like I didn't want to mess with anything, and put her right back in the box without even trying :( I figured that is just how they are now, and would move them along to people that are ok with fiddling with adjusting them.

Usually they arrive well adjusted, but sometimes something needs tightening. Keep in mind that the dolls are assembled in Japan and the temperature and altitude will differ from your location. As a result, something that is correct in Japan might be loose when it shows on your doorstep. They also transit and probably experience a lot of vibration as they do so.
