Kan’u help T_T

hey y’all ^^ I’ve got a problem and I really don’t know what to do. I got a Kan’u second hand for a good bit of shmoney… just for her to arrive with like comically loose knees and thighs. I tried contacting the seller and they have yet to answer which ofc I understand bc people have lives and i’ve been guilty of not responding/seeing messages till someone double texts. 

Anyways, do y’all think it’d be worth trying to get a new Dddy frame for her and just replace her old one? She also lacks a bit of articulation shoulder wise. I know I’d def have to dye the joints but then again… I don’t know if i’ve ever seen a Dollfie frame without the vinyl bits on it besides when they’re showing new frames ? Can you tell i’m still really new to this hobby lol.

Most of the frame parts aren't available without vinyl shells so you'd have to buy almost a full body.

I think its too muck work. If the vinyl is in good shape I would try tightening them. If they're pretty worn to the point no amount of joint tightening will help, you can always apply a few drops of crazy glue.

 

The thing about Kanu, is she's a tan? and an old base-2 body?

I am not sure how well current-gen tan matches hers, we gonna need someone who has both to test this

You can't tighten screws a la current F3 models BUT you can get lil silicone disks (Volks calls theirs KIPS) and put them into the joints to give them a bit more stability

I believe Kanu is a completely unique shade of tan, being warmer and a bit more intense than Dream Choice tan. You can look at the comparison here.

 

Pretty sure the knees can be adjusted with screws, but I'm more familiar with the DD3 body, and I never pulled the knees out of the DD2 body. The hip is a different story, and your best best might be a torso frame replacement like Asachan. If the DD2 lower legs can be installed on DD3 thighs, they should work with the asachan torso frame. The same with DD2 arms and the DD3 upper frame, as long as it works, the asachan frame should fit.

The easy fix for the loose knees are to pull off the feet, then the shin vinyl and then you get access to the screws at the knees.  Be careful not to tighten them too much or they can strip out.  If they are already stripped then you'll need to find some kips, thin plastic or rubber washers, to go in the joints and you screw them back together for more fricton.

As for the hips, the easiest way is to add something on the hip pegs to make more contact with the leg tubes.  I've used 1 layer of clear tape before and it works great.  I have also used a very thin layer of clear nail polish on the pegs, just let it dry completely the push the legs back on.  The older frames didn't have the cracking issues that that DDS and early DD3 bodies had so you shouldn't have any worries about that.

As stated above, Kanu is a different tan color than the newer tan Volks has.  The pics in AsianEd's post show that nicely.
