Sewing Patterns for Lolita OP dresses?

Recommended Posts

meltychoco_BJD

Has anyone ever come across any 1/3 sewing patterns for lolita OP (one-piece, like this) dresses?

I've only found patterns for JSKs with separate blouses.

If I can't find any and nobody knows any, the next best idea I've got is to use the skirt of a JSK pattern and the body of a blouse pattern and sort of frankenstein them together, but I don't know if it would work very well.

You really only need a pattern for the bodice. A blouse pattern would probably work if you shorten it. Most lolita dresses use rectangle skirts. Some use circle skirts, usually for an a-line shape but I think some work with a bell/cupcake. The dress you linked looks like a rectangle skirt.

Not for dolls, but if you want just general patterns you could look into Otome no Sewing books, misscarolbelle even uploads pics of some of the patterns from the book if you wanna draft off of them, they include OPs, JSKs as well as accessories

dollybird has a pattern book that should help with drafting dresses and how to modify the collar, sleeves, and skirt. it includes patterns for a range of obitsu, dd, and sd bodies~

i would look up some more pics on jp.mercari or images or even etsy to get a better idea to see if it might be something you'd be interested in!

it reminds me of the basic pattern drafting textbooks from bunka fashion college.

misscarolbelle is a great archivist! i love her gib collection. i can't remember exactly which volumes have doll patterns or if they would fit a dd but i know there were some published for sd and maybe a few other lines.

i have a glb extra and some random volumes at home and can see if any include doll patterns

Have you seen Dollybird volume 8?

It's theme is Lolita and features some one-piece dress patterns designed by Sawako Araki for Super Dollfie and Mini Super Dollfie.

These patterns might not be a perfect fit for your dolls, but they could serve as a solid starting point or inspiration for your project.

Sawako Araki, is the same talented designer behind the pattern book that @amiamitchi linked to earlier.

She really knows her stuff when it comes to Lolita fashion for dolls, so her designs could be worth exploring.

Best of luck with your sewing adventures!

I was thinking this could work! I'll probably try this before I go and buy new patterns; I do have a few various blouse patterns for DD already.

One of my friends irl also suggested Otome no Sewing, and the stuff she's made from them look really nice. I'm a bit wary of any downsizing human patterns into doll patterns but I've wanted to try it for a while so I just may do it! Thanks for the idea!

I've heard of dollybird! Honestly it sounds like a good resource, I'll look into it!

Ooh I didn't know they sometimes had doll patterns too? Honestly I'd love to collect as many doll patterns as possible for lolita clothing, but buying the physical magazines has always been a bit intimidating to me.

Thank you for the idea! I'll check it out, I'm definitely ok with some fit variance so I don't mind SD patterns.

The Looking Glass Lolita pattern by Requiem Art looks similar to the one you shared. This Gracefaerie pattern has several different options, including a dress. Doll-Candy has a free bodice pattern that could easily be made into a dress by adding a gathered skirt.

I've seen the Looking Glass pattern but hadn't considered it for this project, I might try it. I do love Requiem Art's patterns a lot! The other two also look nice, I think I'll try that bodice pattern. Thanks for the ideas!

Unfortunately I also do not have this volume, but the instructions are right there on the photo! Run it through a translation app (like attached) or ask someone fluent to translate it for you. I'm not fluent enough to trust I'm giving you fully correct information, I'm sorry. >.< It's telling you though exactly what materials you'll need, how much, and the directions to create it.

Ooh thanks! I didn't realize those were the instructions, I'll try putting them through google lens translate

@amiamitchi Do you have a scan of the page with the h. naoto blouse/skirt pattern as well? I've wanted to make an outfit like that for ages, especially the ragged skirt

Edit: I found a full scan of GLB #22 on archive.org and the pattern is only for the cape. Pages 26 - 30 feature lots of photos of dolls wearing EGL, including Blythe/Pullip/Super Dollfie, so it was worth looking at anyway :3

You're welcome! Also, not regarding OPs or dresses, but I was looking through my collection and found there's a few doll patterns in GLB 34. Here's a digital version. Some of the instructions are cut off so if you'd like me to take photos of the pages lmk.

that scan was from the livejournal post that i've used when deciding on which volumes to grab! i have 15,27,57,67, +extra2 laying around at home but none have doll patterns _(:3」∠)_

i know someone on egl livejournal had scans of the full foldout patterns but it's been a while since i actively looked for them

Oh those are really cute! I really like the blouse and pink bonnet, is the blouse for dolls also? Instruction photos would be nice if you're able!

I found this blog a while ago that has scans of full foldout patterns from GLB volumes 3 to 26 but there's only a very small few that are relevant to dolls.

I apologise if they have already been mentioned under a different name or you know of them, but I live to modify dresses from ドールソーイングBOOK はじめてのメイド服-Dollfie Dream- and Dollfie Dream® sewing book 基本のガーリィスタイル[春夏編], both which are available to purchase off Amazon.jp (just search the names directly to find them) or you can sometimes for cheaper off somewhere like Mandarake.

The clothing in the latter book, which is more of a allrounder but features quite a few lovely dresses, has been written in a way which makes the clothes easier to modify for a newbie like myself! The dresses are more simplistic in design than the maid book though.

They have full to scale fold out patterns for DD/DDS and I think DDDy too. Jadepixel has some good guides on the maid/lolita(ish) book on their blog if your Japanese is as dismal as my own, ehe.

Vinyl friends: Stoli (DD Y’shtola), Raili, Yuzuha and Minami-senpai (Azone PureNeemo).
Future friends: DD Alisaie, TinyFox Huifre, DD Luka (hopefully a reboot?), and a DD Icon (wishful thinking, lol).

Oh no, you're right, I should have read more thoroughly--the blouse is for humans. I'm very new to sewing so I don't know how difficult it would be to size down to doll scale but I've included it for you anyway.

Thank you for the images!

It might be impossible but I could probably try altering an existing DD generic blouse pattern to match the general shapes of the blouse from the magazine scan.

Even if it doesn't work out I think it would be fun to try!

You're welcome! If you do end up doing it and you get positive results, please post them! It would be very cool to see and get any tips you learned during the process!
