images replaced with spacer.png

Apologies if this has been addressed somewhere before, I tried searching the forum but didn't find a solution to my problem. I've noticed many posts seem to be missing images for me, and in their place is a little grey box that reads "spacer.png".

It's seemingly random and not every post in a thread is affected. I would say affects less than 1/4th of posts I've seen, and it seems more common on older threads. I would like to see everyone's lovely doll photos, so I hope I can find a solution!

What I've tried: viewing the same thread in different browsers (firefox, opera, edge), clearing my cookies, disabling adblock, waiting patiently and hoping it will fix itself (lol)... and it's the same whether I'm logged in or not.

I'm not sure what else to try, any help is appreciated.

This usually happens when the original image was deleted at the source, so there’s nothing to display. You might have to ask the user to reupload.

Ahh, I had feared this was the case, but wasn't certain. thanks for letting me know!

I'd echo what ragnamuffin said, and add that some image links may point to our old forum site, and that broke a while ago. You could contact an active user to ask them to re-upload, but a lot of people have moved on over the years.
