Display Space

I've seen some interview clips with Pixar employees, and in the background you can see that their office walls are covered in vintage Star Wars figures. I thought it was pretty cool. How would you decorate or display your dolls if you could design your ultimate space?

If I had a room that was big enough, I'd love to have a whole wall of 3' deep big cubby shelves for them set up like individual roomboxes or dioramas.

If I had the space (and money) for it I'd have a few large self and at least one dollhouse diorama set up for my dolls. I'd set up the diorama(s) to match the different time of the year and display my dolls doing fun seasonal activities and such. That's the dream.

Unlimited space? Unlimited money? I'd dedicate an entire room to just having every type of roombox / large scale diorama possible, probably, and have the dolls posed around them like they're just going about life, instead of keeping them in a detolf lol

It would have to be dust protected somehow (is that even possible in an open air space?) but it would be so fun to have, like some kind of open-plan dollhouse room.

More realistically, on a smaller scale, one interchangeable big diorama that you can cover with a glass cover and change floors / walls would be very cool

I'd really love a separate hobby room where I could have all my dolls in glass display cases (ideally Detolfs, but I think they're discontinued). Right now they're either on top of one of my Detolfs or top of one of my bookcases on the other side of the room - I'd really like to have them all in one spot. Would also love to have some organizer drawers for doll outfits~

This for me as well!  In a dream scenario where money and space weren't an issue, I'd absolutely want a large room dedicated to display and storage - I'd still rotate a few in with me at my desk and bedside, but having a big 'home' for everyone would be incredible.  I'd definitely splash out on a lot of nice scaled furniture and goods to liven up the space and have different themed areas to suit personalities.  Ideally certain portions would have doors or drapes so I could keep my more UV sensitive resin boys covered if need be.

Outside of the display, it'd have space for storage but nice lol.  I keep my crew's stuff fairly well organized and split by size now, but it's all essentially condensed into one area in my closet and I'd love the ability to spread out more.  Nice drawers, some boxes for goods like eyes and spare parts, a section for hanging outfits that don't fold up nicely etc.

Good lighting would be a must, and an endless supply of canned air and swiffers for the inevitable eternal dusting duty.

Ah, and maybe a little desk spot to work on faceups with that good good dream lighting so I can stop having to work shrimped up in my bathroom :')

I am going to echo the general opinion here, a dedicated room with showcases and themed dioramas would be the dream.

As well as the neat storage space, while I'd say all my doll things are well organized it is all located in storage containers under my bed ... which is not always handy to grab. Our house theoretically would have enough rooms still, but they are kinda ... in an eternal state of construction. Maybe it will be a very big project for future me.

If I had a large amount of personal space, I would have a diorama and/or library / hobby room for working on art, reading, and dolls.

I have relatives that have a very large house (think "McMansion" but it actually looks nice). They have a family with small children AND a set of parents live there. Even with all of that room, they have space for an entire basement section of the house, a yoga room, a second TV room, giant toy rooms, home offices, an indoor gym, etc... It sounds crazy when I type it out lol. If I had their house, I would have a craft / art room. Then a library and study maybe...

But I REALLY don't need that much space to be happy. I would personally trade off the size of a house for location here in America. As long as I can make art and have space for my collections, I'm fine. Damn, I really want to post pictures of my own room now.

God, imagine having the money and space for have scaled furniture?! I want to turn into the doll-equivalent of those model train people with giant lovely rooms full of their own worlds. I have too many hobbies already but I want to get into (miniature) wood-working now for muh dolls... I wish I could hypnotize my relatives into getting into wood-working and 3D printing for me, but...

Alright, the real question to all of you guys is: What kind of bedroom with scaled furniture would your dolls have?! With unlimited space and money?

I honestly would just like the space to spread around my dolls within my home. Being in my current apartment means that my stuff stays in my own personal space tho, at least for the time being. I like spreading out my dolls so they don't have to be all up on each other, just can't do that much atm. Never been big on the detolf style glass shelves personally, but those old granny looking curio cases are a soft spot of mine! Like the kind of wood cabinets your grandma would put all of her fancy dishes into, the kind that aren't for eating with. If I was rich, I'd without a doubt have quite a few of those for my dolls. And they'd all be decked out with doilies, fake flowers, and plenty of knickknacks. Very grandma-core. Maybe a bit boring of an answer, but the idea reminds me of 'home'-home a bit.

Its cool seeing how many people love the diorama idea. Seeing other collectors/crafters doing it is really amazing, but NGL I kinda enjoy the contrast in size that my dolls have when displayed next to everyday items. Its very whimsical to me, though I do see the thrill in creating things that are sized for them. @onion34@

Wow, that does sound fun. My impression of modal train lovers is that they are a breed apart in the hobby world. A doll room version of that would be quite the spectacle!

Most scale modellers, in general. At the local club we have a lady and her husband, who make large scale dioramas, which apparently are all proudly displayed all over their house.

I only have a few floor to ceiling display cases.

My dolls are starting to spill out of the closet, so maybe I should get a display case for them, too.
