Lycoris Recoil Nishikigi Chisato & Inoue Takina

Volks made an announcement this morning, more information will follow in the next Volks News issue.

Just a heads up that although the machine translation renders her name as Chisoku (and tbf the kanji used for her name is odd), it’s actually read Chisato.

They look fantastic! Not surprised at all at the announcement. Lycoris Recoil has been extremely popular. I also remember someone mentioning they were selling optional outfits for recreating some scenes from the anime : 3 Congrats LR fans!

I like Chisato, but I am not feeling Takina. Need to see more photos though, because this is not the best angle for their faces. 

They do have Takina's expression down pat. 

Maybe they will be the first DDS-f3 2.0 releases, and while it can be hard to tell because of variations in cell art, I think they should be S bust. 

I know nothing about this anime, but I like these faces a lot, and their outfits! The blond (Chisato?) is my favorite of the two by far, though I appreciate having another not-smiling sculpt from Takina. Her sculpt does feel a little early Volks in a way, so I don't think it's for everyone.

Still, not cute enough for me to buy with no attachment to their series.

I haven't seen this anime, maybe I should check it out, but I like Chisato alone for her make-up and sculpt. It has that modern Volks DD look that Aqua had that feels so alive and engaged. Her make-up and eyebrows lend herself to giving her new eyes and a wig whereas Aqua's blue eyebrows would've made it difficult for me to give her another wig colour. I'm really tempted by Chisato to give her a new look. 

 

Takina on the other hand, I have to agree with Plastic Jester. I didn't know how to put it into words, but she does have that early DD look and it definitely stems from the mouth. I think it's also hard to see her blush so her face lacks depth from this angle.

 

Either way, they're both cute and I will stew on Chisato in the meantime. I'm guessing these will be at the next Dolpa and then online afterwards.

Takina has a very deadpan expression in the anime. She often plays the role of "straight-man" to Chisato's "funny-guy." I think that's what Volks needed to capture, and I want to see her from more angles before I decide if she's a good fit for the character. 

Chisato is persistently cheerful, and something of an airhead. I think they captured her smile and her eyes well, but at that angle, I can really judge her head shape. It's the same with Takina, her face just looks super flat from that angle.

I wouldn't expect them to match these looks exactly, because 2D cell isn't going to fully translate well to a 3D sculpt, but when we finally see them face first, they should look like the characters.

I think she resembles the Feena/Erika/Kiriha head! Especially Kiriha, with the dark eyes and hair. She's basically like an updated Kiriha imo. Like they decided to do a more modernized redo of that head lol. That said, it is definitely updated in comparison, especially the entire nose--that old Feena/Erika/Kiriha head frankly had a super weird nose lol. I feel like if I didn't already have Azone Homura, I'd be tempted by Takina to turn into an Akemi Homura. But nope, already have the Azone one and she has weapons to keep me from replacing her. 

For once Volks listened to my request. I prefer the blue one although I think the Volks red one will sell better.

It's a fun anime although I liked the slice of life stuff rather than the John Wick stuff. It does also have some of the most memorable meme-worthy scenes of any anime.

I think they've made an amazing job on both, and they're certainly better than the Pureneemos but obviously not as good as my Lycoris Kagamine twins.

OMG CHISATO IS SUPER CUTE... So tempting but I know I'd be sad if I don't have Takina to accompany her (def can't afford the two of them at once :C ) Really looking forward for the Volks News next week tho!

I enjoyed the show, but I'm not feeling these dolls.  Takina especially looks flat in this photo.  I hope they'll look better in future photos.  

 

Kind of annoying that Volks is releasing them at the same event, rather than separate events.  I, personally, wouldn't want Chisato without Takina, or vise versa.  

Volks News 106 just came in the mail today and,

it looks like they will be DDS f-3 2.0! Chisato will come with M-bust, while Takina's an S-bust. Other than the uniform, they'll both come with the Lycoris Bag (complete with the gun-shelving gimmick!), and their guns. Oh, and Takina's got the boy pantsu. True to the canon!

Iiii kinda wish we got the Lycoreco Cafe uniform instead of the casual fit, but the Sakana scene is iconic so I can see why they pick that one instead.

 

Also, IMO Takina looks so much better in every other photo than the one they posted on Twitter wtf😭 it didn't do her justice at all

I'm in camp "never heard of this anime before in my life" but the sculpts for these dolls are SO cute!! If I had the money I would be so tempted to buy both 😭

I'm not usually drawn to dolls with very large round eye shapes but something about these two works so well.

I wonder how hard it would be to get just the heads in the future -- are these two likely to become very popular/hard to find secondhand?

A friend and I were talking about this exact thing, her look really reminded us of the early 2000's dolls. Glad we aren't the only ones thinking that.

Takina looks a lot more like Takina in the new photos. Chisato was already a good fit, but she looks even better from the front.

Loved loved loved this anime and I cant believe they got Dollfies! I might have to get Chisato, she is so cute! 

Given the photo and what I know about the Pureneemos, Chisato is likely to be much more popular than Takina. However that doesn't necessarily mean she'll end up being the grail. Rem is the more popular wifu but DDS Ram is harder to obtain now.

Also... Sakana 🐟. I'm learning Japanese... one meme at a time.

 

As a Takina fan, I'm not feeling her sculpt. Even as a deadpan character, the expression is too neutral. I would have preferred a more harsh expression with slanted eyebrows

If it makes you feel better, it’ll probably be a while before they sell them stand-alone (prob next spring at the earliest).
