In addition to the regular outfit releases they are doing a Baby The Stars Shine Bright collaboration that includes a number of Sweet Lolita style dress releases to go along with the new SD. For lovers of Lolita fashions, the dresses look pretty nice and there is a heart shaped purse too.

Not into Sweet Lolita, but even I'm tempted by the Eternal Ribbon set.

The SD are gorgeous, the clothing style isn't to my taste, but if I wasn't going after Chisato, I'd probably be tempted by one these girls.

I was all excited to see they were doing separate outfits and not just full sets. . .but then all of them were 1/3 (SD/DD) size, and nothing in 1/4 (MSD/MDD), which is what I actually want sweet lolita stuff in. Sooooo basically I'm safe, but I'm also a little sad about being safe lol

Do we have scans of any of the other outfit collections from this issue? Just because I'm safe from the collab doesn't mean I'm safe from everything lol

If this collab is an ongoing thing, they may release more dolls & outfits in the future. To that end, I hope it's lucrative for them. 

I do see that they will being doing Dear SD with outfits, but the outfits aren't being sold on their own.

They've done collab releases with Baby in the past (originally in 2004 but the most recent was approx 11 years ago or so I think).

They've released one MDD/MSD size Baby dress (red riding hood - it's super cute) and did a couple h.naoto collab sets (SD and mini size).

The Dear SD size dresses were sold as separate dresses in the past and pop up online frequently. The two we've tried (black/white and the pink one) fit Smart Dolls well and would probably fit DD. They are pretty adjustable but i don't know if they'd get small enough to fit on a MDD.

I think they don’t charge you tax if you are ordering outside of Japan. I don’t see tax on my last order.

Are you talking about buying on the website or at the actual event? I didn’t try it last time I bought dolls there as a GL member - I assumed you couldn’t just because the process takes up extra time which could cause problems given the queue sizes (even with the number of registers on site).

Volks have always been good at responding to my specific questions about events, so you could always just email and ask them. When you make a query, just remember to give your name and member number as well - sometimes without it they will just respond asking for it, which delays the answer.

I'm talking about the actual event, I've never been before so that's good to know. I'll email them and ask. Thank you

For real! A new BTSSB collab is so exciting and both SDs are absolutely stunning. The only reason why my wallet is safe is because I'm more of an Angelic Pretty girlie.

Tbh I'm pretty surprised that there's never been any AP collabs. They did do a Pullip collab last year so maybe there's a chance for Dollfie stuff in the future?

I'm hoping they do an official version of the babydoll JSK at some point! For now I'm aiming for the coat and the heart bag/shoes set.

I'm super excited about the BTSSB collab! I'm more of a "window-shopping" type of fan of lolita fashion, I don't wear it but I love to follow new releases and dress my dolls in the style if I can.

The website mentions that outside of the VIP/GL pre-order period, it seems like there will be a sales period in January -- is there any idea of whether it will be likely to be regular sales or a lottery type?

I really want to get the blue/white set but I don't think I'd make it out of a clickwar 😅

Something I've wondered though, is why lolita brands who do doll collabs (not just with Volks of course) never seem to use any original print series for the collabs. I'd kill for so many of AP's original print series in doll form! I wonder if its a licensing / IP rights issue or something?

I love Lolita fashion, but my knowledge of the brands start and end with Pullip collabs, haha. I just look at the fashion and go "dresses pretty". I don't think any of my dolls are particularly lolita-y, but if they aren't all immediately sniped out of the store I might buy a set or two, though that's looking increasingly unlikely. Are they all based on real human-sized outfit pieces?

Such pretty sets! I’ve love to get one if I’m lucky, they’d suit an upcoming DD character I have in mind for her.
The dolls are stunning too! Volks are slowly convincing me to try out an SD, lol.

Volks BtSSB collabs have always been based on real, human-size dresses. Elizabeth, Cinderella, Robe a la Francaise, Creeping Rose Doll, Milk Tea Doll, Ginger Doll, etc (last 2 are technically AATP...)

What always frustrated me is that they never run these together, lol. BtSSB has sold these items all fairly recently, but they're not currently in stock (at least when I checked) and there's no telling exactly when they'll run again.

This collab is EVERYTHING OMG! The shoes and bag set in particular just hit me with a giant nostalgia blast lol. Those were EVERYWHERE back in the day!

Sorry if this sounds stupid (I'm not familiar with how they sell limited SDs) but will the pre-orders also be available online after Dollpa, or is it an in-person event only for the dolls and the outfits?

It will almost certainly be a lottery, and they aren't listing Volks USA as a seller so it's international web store or use a proxy. I'm told the Dolpa books sold out fast so I'd expect an international lottery to be fiercely competitive. Enter, but be mentally prepared for disappointment.

Ah, that makes sense, thank you for answering! I imagine for these girlies and their outfits the competition will be absolutely insane, but hey it's worth a shot!

I'm also surprised! An AP collab with an over the top sweet lolita print like Sugary Carnival or Happy Garland would be really interesting.

Also seconding a Baby collab with their babydoll JSK! That and their hem scallop JSK are such staples for the brand and I'd love to be able to wear the same dress as my Dollfie.
