Deinbeck Posted March 11, 2012 Has anyone ever had a figure break right out of the box? I just brought home the Good Smile BRS Animation version figure, opened it up, I was attaching the gun, and the long ponytail popped off. Not like the joint was lose, it was snapped. I wasn't even applying pressure to it, I literally went huh... WTF...... This is like my second figure that isn't a figma. I just dropped like $150, I know there's no way the guy at the store was gonna take it back, I'm like uhhhgggg-rage :/

archangeli Posted March 11, 2012 (once upon a time...) I had my Kingdom Hearts Axel PlayArts figure break on me, 2 minutes out of the box. Hubby was trying to interchange his hands so that he could hold is weapon, and it broke. It was a manufacturing defect. I had got it at one of the comic stores downtown that knows me very well, so I brought it back, explained the problem and he said he'd send it back to Diamond Comics/Kotobukiya as a damaged product and get a new one for me. It took a couple of months for the new one to arrive because it was high in demand during that time, but the guys at the store were good to it, and as soon as a new batch arrived they set one aside for me. JoltFiend Posted March 11, 2012 I accidentally decapitated my Puchi Nendoroid Saber (w/ Lion version) when I was trying to remove the plastic that was between her head and body.

I remember when I was around 11 or so, I came home to some kid playing with my transformers. My mom had a friend of hers an her kid over. The little prick snapped off the arm on my original Megatron before I got there, lol.

Have you ever dealt with the guy at Anime Extreme archangeli? I was hesitant to try to make a return there, as I don't really know where else I could actually get figures in Toronto. I didn't want the guy groaning everytime I walked into his store I did a 20 min repair job with a dremel, a new support rod fashioned from a finishing nail and some model glue. If anyone has the same issue with this figure I can explain in detail, just pm me.

If anyone has the same issue with this figure I can explain in detail, just pm me. I haven't been in AnimeXtreme in ages~ I am familiar with the GSC BRS Animation version - I'm a figure collector as well. A LOT of people had issues with this girl. Some people would get theirs in the mail and her head would have fallen off! Others had the twintails break some had footpegs break... There were a lot of QC issues - including the missing star on her jacket - at least GSC sent out decals so customers could put it on if they chose to. I got very lucky with mine and picked her up on sale for less than $100 after shipping, on top of that I never had any issues with breakage - I had her on display for a while but now she's back in the box as I do rotations with my collection. It's too big to display all at once in our apartment. PVC's breaking is part of life, having a PVC break where it would have been attached via glue at factory is definitely a lot easier to repair than say, a drop that results in a more violent break. Using a dremel and a metal peg to reinforce the break is the ideal solution. I've suffered some PVC breakage on common figures known to break and have done this repair the same way. I've also had PVC's break from falling... That's always worse! 0_0 I accidentally decapitated my Puchi Nendoroid Saber (w/ Lion version) when I was trying to remove the plastic that was between her head and body. The nendo petites are designed to have their heads removed - unless you did something special this decapitation is normal. Please visit my YouTube channel for helpful DD tips, tutorials, and reviews! The nendo petites are designed to have their heads removed - unless you did something special this decapitation is normal. Her head actually snapped off the peg when I was trying to remove the head. Needless to say, I was very sad. I've managed to fix her w/ super glue, and I keep her tucked away at my desk away from grabby hands. I haven't even tried removing any of the plastic from the other figures in the set. I don't want to be known as "He Who Decapitates Puchi-Nendoroids". It was literally a case of being in the store, and just sort of grabbing it because I have BRS on the mind atm. Ah well, live and learn Also, are there any other shops that sell figures in the GTA you would recommend?

The 'ball' part of the stand that goes into Dead Master's back also snapped off... Oh, and while nothing broke on it, the PlayArts Kai FFXIII Lightning stand is the only figure related item I've ever thrown away. Total piece of junk. The actual Lightning figure is pretty nice though. She just needed a better stand.

Ah well, live and learn Also, are there any other shops that sell figures in the GTA you would recommend? I haven't bought anything from Anime Xtreme in a very long time - like over 5 years! They're more reliable now than they were (roughly) 7 years ago when you'd find fakes on their shelves (and ignorant me, brought some of those fakes home ). I don't know how they would be about taking back a damaged figure though. If I need something, I go through One Million Comix. They don't stock as many figures as they used to, since the fan market has shifted a lot from pricey figures to t-shirts, keychains and the like, especially due to the economic recessions ... If there is something I need, I usually pre-order it through them through the monthly Diamond Comics catalog (Kotobukiya and lots of other stuff in there) and they also distribute stuff for AAA Anime. I haven't had a chance to pop in there in quite some time, so I'm not sure what's on their shelves right now ^__^" Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli

There's a couple things kicking around but for a figure collector their in store selection was disappointing. I order pretty much all of my figures from Japan - they end up being cheaper than buying here with the sole exception of Kotobukiya. Especially if you're fortunate enough to snag something on sale. Deinbeck Posted March 14, 2012 I really thought going in that there would be a horrible urgency to pre-order everything, but for the most part I've found every figure I was interested in for a reasonable price, and there are some crazy sales on some of these sites. Good Smile Madoka for $67? Yes please!

JoltFiend Posted March 14, 2012 *sigh* I seem to have bad luck with small figures. I just snapped the tail off of the Kyubey that comes w/ the Figma Madoka. It wasn't even intentional, I was trying to move the tail so he could balance sitting up since the tail is a bit back heavy. I hope that the Hatsune Miku Cheerful Version Puchi-Nendoroid I just got survives my desk move. :/

Good Smile Madoka for $67? Yes please! I don't have a "urgency" with preordering. But if I want certain figures I plan it out month by month and preorder what I want. Sometimes I get lucky and items I couldn't have in my orders (due to meeting my budget limit for the month) end up on sale and I'm able to add them to my collection for a fraction of the cost. COSPA's giant Aegis figure which originally retailed for 16Kjpy I was able to pick up for a meager 4.7Kjpy so with shipping and currency conversion she ended up being less than CA$100 - cases like her, VN02 Miku ($40) and BRS Anime Version ($80) I consider bonuses. If I don't consider them worth the price I don't preorder, if they go on sale for a price I'm willing to pay later then so be it. He has a habit of falling over every other time I walk past my figmas, lol.
