SaraCherie Posted February 28 Aisha's sculpt is my all-time favorite out of Volks' releases, and while she's already pretty in her stock styling, I've never been much of a fan of Rockabilly so I always intended to restyle her. The first thing I changed was her wig, since her stock one is a good 1-2 sizes bigger than her head. I liked the general idea of her faceup, so I didn't change much aside from just toning it down a bit (mainly thinning out her eyeliner and removing the white shadow.) The intention was to make her lips less red, but it turned this color when I applied gloss, so... The shade of blue in her stock eyes were also a bit to vibrant for my taste, so I went to find some replacements. In this photo, she's wearing a pair of mystery clearance eyes. I also picked up a couple pairs of Eyeco Polyglass ones. All 18mm. They're super high dome and glossy which gives them incredible depth, the printing is nice and crisp. At 10$ a pair they're really not bad if you're looking for natural colors. The only thing to note is that the iris is a bit bigger than the stock Icon eyes, but the diameter of the eye itself is the same. Spoiler A264(Brown) and A225(Green) For her clothes, I wanted something that resembled early Lolita fashion. Since they're all separates I eventually plan to make more JSKs for her so I can swap them out. I'm fairly certain all of the fabrics used were quilting and shirting cottons, but they came from my stash so I'm not sure. Sock pattern was modified from Jadepixel's. Everything else was patterned by me. The dress is pretty flared on its own due to the way it's constructed, but she is wearing one of those tulle petticoats that come in some Volks sets. And lastly, some photos of her blank sculpt for those who're interested: Spoiler Next was a spare DDH07, actually the first Dollfie head I bought. Due to some red pastel mishaps it has some unremovable staining around the mouth. (I've tried multiple times, but for some reason the it just won't budge.) Thankfully, I was able to tone it down by layering some white pastels over the affected area. Since I ended up liking this faceup so much I ordered a DDDy body to put her on. Hopefully I can pin her style down sometime.
PolitelyNefarious Posted March 1 (edited) Aisha in tawny is gorgeous. The colour makes her features pop. And the muting effect of the gloss tones her lips down from rockabilly red nicely. The red of the Icons' lipstick is my only complaint too. It's not that the Zoukei-mura faceups aren't fantastic, but that shade is so bright, it's a love-it-or-hate-it colour. This neutral shade is more versatile, but still stands out against her skin. And with such a dynamic base sculpt and warm tone, less can be more. Without the eyeshadow, and with those natural brown eyes and hair, she has a soft, sleepy look that compliments the early lolita fashions well. I'm loving the cheap mystery eyes and the way that wig frames her face. She looks so... huggable? And you made her entire outfit! Impressive work! The sock and blouse portions especially look quite professional, but truthfully, if there are flaws to the main dress, we can't see them. She styles it well. Seeing her blank piques my interest in her that much more. Curses! Curses, I say! This website is a wallet deathtrap. Now is a good time to get a DDDY. While a 2.0 DDDY is likely coming, the F3 is a fun little body; I enjoy fiddling with mine so much that I haven't been able to bring myself to part with her, even though I've never found her identity. 07 is going to make an excellent curvy girl. You've disguised the staining so well, I would never have known had you not said anything. It looks like natural blushing, and blends perfectly. And those eyebrows and lashes are immaculate! Holy detail work, Batman! The ombre and subtle gloss around her lids is a fine touch too. It gives her expression a nice warmth, and draws us into her eyes. SaraCherie Posted March 2 @PolitelyNefarious Thank you! The softer look suits her well. Despite both having bright eyeshadow, the 2022 and 2023 runs come to mind, they both have the soft, sleepy look that you mentioned. Seeing tawny in person is what really sold me on it; the deeper shade brings out the slight translucency of the vinyl, especially against light. It looks really beautiful. Also yeah, my wallet has been taking some hard hits lately loll. At least I can say its an artistic outlet.😅
