E1jr-rta9032 Posted Thursday at 08:15 PM I wanted to get a dress form for my DD, I believe she's a standard model, but I don't think I'll be able to find one for a Dollfie. So I'm planning to make one myself, but I'm not sure about the tape method, ideally I'd want to make a pattern from the measurements but I'm not sure if I can find a good sewing pattern and scale it down accurately. In my history, I am bad at scaling down patterns. I am not a beginner at sewing but I am a beginner at sewing, yk. Has anyone found a particular tutorial that's easy to understand and scale? I plan to make lolita and historical dresses to the best of my abilities and I have found from making the hoop skirt that I really need to have some kind of stand. If anyone has tried to make a dress form before, what did you do? Just the tape method or can I hope for another way? Or if someone can tell me where I can buy a dress form for her.
Chiruhimee Posted Thursday at 09:39 PM I've seen some doll sized dress forms on taobao, but I sadly don't remember the store. Also not a fan of tape method, but I use tissue paper draping instead, you just have to be really careful with pens so you don't stain your doll.

Does the tissue paper not rip easily? I don't know if I have any, but I'll try it if I find some

There's minishouse.dollmannequin on instagram who does custom dressforms (they call it mannequin) for dolls! You give them the measurements of the doll (based on what they ask for, it seems like a lot of measurements, probably for accuracy) and then they work with you to create the dressform. It doesn't seem like you need to send the doll in. They've done a SmartDoll dressform before, so they should be perfectly capable of doing a DD one too. I don't know what their commission prices are as I haven't bought from them (yet! I probably will eventually) but they have a lot of pictures of past dressform commissions alongside the dolls they're for, so you can compare and decide for yourself if the craftsmanship is good enough for you. There's also a comment that says the SmD one specifically is 65 USD, but the price probably varies based on what doll they make it for. I'd assume DD would be a similar price due to the similar scale and proportions. That does sound pretty reasonable. I think I'll buy from them if I fail at making it myself.
