Best way to wash doll clothes?

Recommended Posts

Hanyuu

Hello!

Recently I have noticed alot of my dolls' clothes are in need of cleaning and I was wondering what is the best way to wash them without damaging them? They come in a variety of colours, ranging from whites and light pinks to black and dark blues.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Personally, I wash them practically the same way I wash regular clothes in the washing machine. To be extra safe though, I put them in one of those mesh bags for delicates. Then let air dry.

If the clothes are more delicate or you just want to be extra safe, handwashing them should be just fine! I do it this way more often than not tbh. You can also just spot treat an area if you don't want throw the entire thing in the laundry.

I see! Is there anything in particular I should do or look out for when handwashing them, or is it just a case of luke-warm water and detergent? They are mostly clothes from VOLKS.

Sorry if I come off as paranoid, I am just worried about messing anything up!

I also put mine in the washing machine in a mesh zip bag. I only ever put them on a rinse cycle, nothing longer than 15-20 mins. I use detergent or a tiny bit of washing up liquid.

I also wash them by hand, using warm water and soap. You can very gently use a soft toothbrush/baby toothbrush to scrub, if there is a severe stain or something, but I find that most clothes come up clean just by gently washing the affected area or using a soapy damp cloth to wipe ☺️

I also put them in a mesh bag in the washing machine. Specifically on the gentle cycle. Separate lights and darks. I like to throw a shout color catcher inside the mesh bag too, just in case. I honestly just toss it in with my own clothes that need the gentle cycle. And then lay them out to air dry. Never had an issue.
