De-stinking the new girl

I recently bought a thirdhand Legion from a mutual on insta, and she smells like cigarettes. Not so much that it stinks up a room, in fact the person I bought it from didn't even notice it, but I can smell that smelly smell that smells smelly from 100 yards. A defense mechanism, I assume, as it triggers my allergies pretty bad. I'd prefer not to take her apart to wash as it hurts my hands, and she also has custom tattoos that I don't want to come off. So right now, I'm attempting kitty litter, baking soda, dryer sheet jail

I may also add a bowl of coffee grounds. I did end up buying the TwinPines D-stinker, but she will remain in jail until it arrives to hopefully reduce the smell so the spray can get rid of any of the remains.

At some point during the week, I did add coffee grounds and newspaper.

I took her out today because the D-Stinker arrived. The smell did lessen considerably in the bin, so that's good. But it was still there so I sprayed her.

I will say it's not perfect. There is STILL a residual smell. BUT it does say to use as many times as needed, I had to stop however, because the wetness was causing a little tattoo damage (they aren't sealed honestly). If I could keep spraying, it may eventually remove the smell fully. But it is MUCH better and i'm satisfied. The rest of the smell should eventually fade i hope. I don't smell it just being near her anymore tho, so I'll take that.

The spray DID fully remove the smell from the wig she came with, as well as her head. There is no faceup damage or anything. So sealed things seem safe. When her tattoos are done I might go ahead and seal them and maybe spritz her again? Or maybe I can cover them and spray the rest of her body. Either way, it's not so bad now. And once she's clothed it might be masked more too. So now she's free!

Good luck! I jailed a Nendo for the same reason once; perfect condition off Mandarake, expect for the fact that she smelled like an ashtray. I kept her in a bag with dryer sheets for a month (I forgot about her for a while, which made time pass more quickly...) and it worked for me.

She obviously still smells different from all my other Nendos but only if I hold right up to my nose. No issues when she sat on my shelf or in passing thankfully.

The smell returned 😩 so i broke down and at least partially took her apart and very very carefully cleaned around the tattoos with alcohol and then soapy water, with a final wipe down of just water. I also sprayed inside with alcohol.

I managed to only damage a small part of a tattoo. Easily fixed. Since i dont want to damage her faceup, i've put a satchet full of whole cloves inside her head. They smell rather strongly, i like the smell, and it keeps bugs away (which isn't actual concern and more of just a fun fact lol)

If i can find a small enough bag i may attempt stuffing cloves inside her body too i dunno. Might use a dryer sheet for now

Oh, those are Law's tattoos from One Piece, right? Is the mutual SlanoftheGodhand? I know she's been selling some of her collection and that she's a One Piece fan.

@PlasticJester that's right! I did in fact buy from her. I couldn't let her go to someone else lol. I'd been wanting a Law doll and the tats were 90% done already so it was a good deal for me 👍

Good for you! I'm not far enough into One Piece to have met Law yet (I just finished Alabasta), but I know he's super popular!

I'm happy to report that a couple days later, the smell has not returned! So i hope this is useful for people in the future.

@PlasticJester you've got a way to go but i hope you're enjoying it! I love One Piece so much lol
