Symmetric Balance and what to check for when receiving

Recommended Posts

initial

A bit weird to ask this after adopting my 2 Sabers for close to a month.

Just a question on what to check for when you receiving a new dollfie dream?

Generally, I know things like missing items, broken parts, cracks etc.

Just to want to know what else should newbie like me look out for?

This lead to second question on what is deem by VOLKS as defective or problem?

This 2 questions actually come from the fact that I am actually a bit concern on my Saber Alter as she seem to have a shorter right leg as compare to her left leg. While it seem worse when first out of box, but after adjusting around, now seem a lot better with the difference probably less than 50mm.

If there is way for myself to readjust the alignment, i will gladly do it but probably not now when I still not familiar with the body structure.

Short answer: yes (to adjusting the leg)

But it requires taking the leg apart and popping out the skeleton piece in the thigh. You will need a hair dryer to heat up the vinyl, else it will be very difficult to get it out. On the skeleton piece, unscrew the hip joint (3 screws) and open it slightly, then you could adjust the length of the rod. But note down the existing length before pulling it. Having it too long can make it look a bit weird, or the lower leg piece might not fit back on the thigh piece.

Look for stains...

I know that sounds weird but my Millhiore had stains on her when I opened her. I've sent pictures to Volks but not heard anything back yet.

I ended up taking her leg off to dry up water that had gotten in when I scrubbed and I found a long black thread stuck midway up her torso. This suggests to me that somehow she got into contact with clothing materials. But, it may be something they won't do anything about.

As an adder you may not need to use heat, I adjusted one of my DDII's without needing screw-removal or heat. But I do know that the legs can be very difficult to remove - so heat WILL help.

yeah, i read the same thing on heating help but can't do that now as my house only got a 20 years old (maybe older) school hair dryer which you can't control the heat. not too safe to use it on my girl.

so my guess is that if i contact VOLKS about the leg, they probably also can't do much?

probably I will just keep this small concern in mind and adjust next time when there is a more urgent need to taking the leg apart.

of all thing, she has short leg syndrome similar to me

You should be able to use a hair dryer without heat controls as long as you're careful. Rather than holding a steady stream on the part you can do passes back and forth over it to keep the heat less intense and just test the temperature of the vinyl with your hands carefully (you can heat up the vinyl to the point where it will be too hot to touch without damaging the vinyl.)

thanks, will keep that in mind. but honestly speaking, handling alter made me learn more things on dollfie, although through the hard way.

When I got my very first girl (DD Yukino/Elle) despite all the knowledge I had from my months of research I still had lots to learn and had hiccups along the way. Think of these things as what makes them special. And remember that a body can always be replaced for a decent price, but the emotion and joy you get from your DD is priceless.
