finnleo Posted March 25, 2012 Well, my doll purchases have been very limited recently, but I decided to get one little thing off auction after watching a online mate go bonkers on his head purchases. What resulted was a custom make up DDH01, that had some amusing mileage on it. First getting shipped from japan to the states, back to japan again, and then from there to here. Currently without a name, I would call it Project fang for the moment, and kuupee relieved its body for a small mash up with stuf I had laying around. People are probably on their toes about the black dress, and yes.. I was aware that it could stain the body. So I used freshwrap to cover up most of it, but I wasnt too worried about stains on the body, as it already had a few... What I did not know was that staining can be also caused by fuming, or just having dark stuff in the vicinity, and this is what was a result less than an hour later of taking the photos: So my bargain head now has a dark chin and nose, ontop of a thoroughly stained body. Time to see those stain removal FAQ's I guess...
Xing Posted March 25, 2012 Dat fang. XD Sorry to hear about the staining part though. Sounds like it can't be helped I guess.
milkytea Posted March 25, 2012 That is a very cute head~ Definitely too bad about the staining; I hope you are able to treat it.
marisa_doll Posted March 25, 2012 nice faceup! i am sorry to hear about this fuming but also worried myself My SQ Hibiki I am putting up for adoption a SQ-Lab Ren head on flickr. Contact me for more details!
baldylox Posted March 25, 2012 This girl is friggin adorable! I love the look she has and the fang is too cute! Thanks for the lovely pics, her kitty ears and tail make her even more sweet! That's why its so sad to see this happen to her. I really hope you can get those stains off her face. If it were me, I wouldnt worry so much about the body staining, that can be fixed easily enuff. The face is what matters more. What will you try? Oxy10? That's less damaging than Remove-Zit. It may not do any damage to the face area. Let us know what you do and how it goes, I'd like to see this girl back in good shape. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. scripple Posted March 25, 2012 She's very cute, I'm a sucker for cat girls. That's a real shame about the staining, especially to the face. Are you sure the transfer didn't happen from your hands when posing her? The chin and nose are easy points to touch when moving the head. Check out my new DollFun website. PlasticFantastic Posted March 25, 2012 She's very cute, I'm a sucker for cat girls. That's a real shame about the staining, especially to the face. Are you sure the transfer didn't happen from your hands when posing her? The chin and nose are easy points to touch when moving the head. After taking a second look at your photos they remind me of the first time I stained a DD and it was dye transfer from my hands that did the damage - I ended up staining Elle's arms, neck, and head with similar looking "newsprint smudge" type stains. They are fairly easy to get off but I had a hard time playing with her for a little while after I'd stained her. I hope you're able to fix your head-stains - the body is a lot easier to treat (as Billy mentioned) so take care when working on her head. She has a wonderful expression she looks so sly! Innocentsake Posted March 25, 2012 Definitely hope you'll be able to get the staining off her face! She's definitely a cutie and would hate to see those dark stains remain on her lovely fang face :
finnleo Posted March 25, 2012 Its possible that it might have been caused by secondary transfers from moving about, but that does not explain how for instance the bust was stained right up to where it goes into the head. Or thinking about it, it could be grease/sweat/wax from the skin that attracted the dye. The stains should already have shown in the third pic by that logic, as that was basicly as I left her afterwards. im a bit miffed, since it was a Volks outfit of all things. Im also a bit gutted about it, since the head was perhaps the only good thing to come by this month. Will have to see what I can get my hands on considering treatments, need to see what the local pharmacy has for a selection. EDIT: I read that jadepixel had had success with your global brand name, so I picked up a bottle of that at the grocers, despite theres no gaurantee it contains the benzoyl oxy since they only put "Safe for everyday use" on the back of the bottle. Will have to see what happens. the stains look worse in real life than in photo's now. and flashing will bleach them out completely.
PrettyCranium Posted March 26, 2012 Wow. She's adorable, but it's really awful about the staining. Maybe a light magic eraser rub will work? I suggest that you take lots of pictures of her head prior to working on it so that in the worst case scenario, you can re-create her face-up. Good luck, and keep us posted. smallpotato Posted March 27, 2012 Sorry to know the tragedy. I think we should always wash the new clothes and soak the dark color clothes for a while
Crashrobot Posted March 27, 2012 Omg! She is adorable! The fang is cute too. I hope the staining goes away. MDD's are sooo cute to me. Can't wait to get one!
finnleo Posted March 28, 2012 Sorry to know the tragedy.I think we should always wash the new clothes and soak the dark color clothes for a while mmm, im kicking myself in the head since I knew the outfit was a stain monster, but I didnt imagine it would be this fast ... then again the stockings that came with the volks Mirai outfit also left a quick impression of themselves. I guess the main culprit in the outfit is the lace, as the staining seems to be worst around those parts. After about three 8-9 hour treatments with the brand name pimple cream just in room temperature, since I have to either work or sleep, and cant watch over a heatsource, and dont want to do anything to ruin the faceup, It would seem the stains are getting slightly lighter but nothing drastic, as was to be expected by reading the removal faq. This morning I thaught I had managed to wipe off the blush off its left cheek, but looking back at the pictures it turns out that she's got a bit of a offsided blush going on to begin with, and the stain around the left cheek might make it look more faint. will try to get a new shot this afternoon when I get back from work again. EDIT: Well, so after 48 hours with just the cream, and no heat this is the status: It seems to be going away ever so slightly, but still the photos make it look a little better than it is. Will have to keep up the mild treatment untill the weekend when I can try using a halogen spot for some added heat in safety.
baldylox Posted March 28, 2012 Even if the staining treatments are going slowly, they are at least working! That's a good sign. I hope your treatments continue to take off the marks and leave your cute girl all clean! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. Will have to keep up the mild treatment untill the weekend when I can try using a halogen spot for some added heat in safety. I'm glad it's staring to work for you, it can take a little patience, but hang in there. Also, if you reach a point where it no longer seems to be making any progress I suggest just stopping and waiting a few weeks. I've found many times that the stains will continue to fade long after I stop treating them, and when I go back and look for them they're completely gone. Check out my new DollFun website. Amber Posted March 29, 2012 She's really cute, I hope you can get all of the stains out... Comparing from the first picture to your update, I can tell a difference. Although, it is probably different in "real life" than in the photos.
finnleo Posted March 29, 2012 mmm, easy does it, and no hurries. since I havent done much to the body yet in terms of treatments ,I have that as a comparison for what I started out with, and so far it looks promising, although as the main worst parts are getting lighter, it looks like I'll have to widen the treatment area to the sides of the head. But I have untill may or june to sort it out... I hope.
T-Rho Posted March 30, 2012 First of all ... sorry about your staining >.< .... I think like Billy said just keep with it and I am sure you will be successful!!! vhdangel Posted March 30, 2012 Your girl is utterly adorable! It's sad to hear that she was passed around so many times, but I think it was just a little adventure she needed to take before finding her way to you. That face-up really is gorgeous. Staining troubles stinks, and I hope you're able to successfully treat them. Hope to see many more of your pictures!
baldylox Posted March 30, 2012 It's sad to hear that she was passed around so many times, but I think it was just a little adventure she needed to take before finding her way to you. I just wanted to elaborate on his thought. I've heard it many times in this hobby and at first I didn't beleive it. But after dealing with Dollfie Dreams for almost 2 years I think a truer phrase has not been uttered.... *All Dollfies have a destiny that is their own. They will all find their parents/owners when fate sees fit.* I totally agree with that. Some girls hop from place to place until finally finding their true homes. And some girls are lucky enuff to get it on the first try. But I really do think that when YOUR girl is ready to find you, she will. finnleo Posted May 15, 2012 Well, I wish I could update with a full recovery post, but as it turns out, the benzyol oxy is indeed a perscription thing here, and so basicly I've been baking with uneffective stuff, up to the point where the faceup line were starting to lighten. Still, the stain became just a little lighter, but this is probably as good as its going to get, so here's a few shots with something that came in the mail today, along with a new set a peepers from yonkko that finally got a bigger pair from the parts drawer.: The stain is like a extra shadow that you know should not be there, and seems to only want to appear in real life and not photos. Still its a bit lighter, or compared to the brunt of the damage on the body, tolerable. Still a bit of a shame you can only get busts, and hands for MDD's... or even those for how long. milkytea Posted May 15, 2012 I'm sorry you couldn't fully remove her stain. She's still totally adorable, particularly in that new outfit! Super cute!
atrika Posted May 16, 2012 She looks really cute, and sorry about the stain. I worry about that myself, because I was careless with my resin dolls when I moved, so some limited makeups got stained. that made me more afraid when I play with Mariko, since I read white skin is more visible to stain~ Aoife ✙ Tae ✙ Miya ✙ Usami ✙ Misaki ✙ Makina ✙ Yume Kanae ✙ Kanon ✙ Subaru ✙ Juri ✙ Aya ✙ Megu-tan ✙ Kureha
