it does really seem it's a love or hate case for Rise ^^' ~~~

do we blame the nose? cuz that's what would make her less anime XD. her eyes and lips are a big win for me, since we don't usually see small sharp eyes like these. her mouth they look different from all angles and what a beautiful smile she has ! her nose doesn't bother me really. I feel like people can mod her nose to look anime-ish?

 

I'm so impatient to see Sakuyas pictures through volks blogs . if her nose turns to be like neris's then I'll pass~

but I'd get her and do a split for her outfit + sword and wig ^^~~~~

Volks International: The language isn't up anymore, but when I entered for Lucy, there was a very firm warning that if you win the lottery and then do not pay, they will ban you from all future lotteries. I think it even said they might even cancel your account, which would prevent you from buying anything, even non-lottery items, from Volks in the future. So, in short, you can NOT cancel a lottery entry. If you win 2, you need to pay for 2. You can usually sell the 2nd very easily, tho.

 

Volks USA: They say they can't accept any changes, including cancellations, but about 3 years ago I requested a cancellation and received one. They said it was a special one-time deal and they would never, ever cancel a lottery entry for me again.

 

I'll enter them if someone shows me how? I don't care much for Cirno but I can enter for someone if they wanted in exchange for a chance with Rise.

 

Both Volks International & Volks USA will post instructions prior to the start of the lottery.

Ooh I am tempted by Rise and Sakuya, even though I have not played/seen either origin media... The state of my monies by the time of the ordering period will e determining whether I will go for one, but since I don't even know the characters it will probably be a no. ...I hope... They are both lovely though >_<;

Rise has a normal look to her like Alna I think.....more super dollfie, less dollfie dream. I am not familiar with her character at all, but she is pretty.....I wanted both girls at first glance now I am not so sure. I will wait for better photos. Not crazy about the clothes either..... Maybe the doctor outfit.

I do admit she looks more like the usual Volks SD than DD. Volks resin dolls are considered to be anime style by most BJD fans FWIW. I'm glad that Volks is offering something different for DD, like other folks said. I wouldn't mind seeing more unusual sculpts like Escalayer and Ryomou released.

I definitely imagined her with a smaller mouth and tinier nose, but I think the designer did a pretty nice job. Pointed chin, slightly parted mouth, Persona style eyes, and a more realistic nose.

 

Seriously so excited Poor boyfriend is not going to hear the end of it for a while.

I agree that Rise is very unique, but I think that's why she appeals to me. I don't know if it's really a trend or it's just because I have a lot more dolls now than when I started, but many of the recent sculpts look very similar to me. Take Sakuya for example: while she is stunning, she just looks like Haruka + Nellis to me, with perhaps a little bit of Saber Lily or Yuki. Since I have all 4 of those dolls, well, I don't really feel like getting her.

 

It's great opportunity for people who missed any of these dolls, and I think she is a little different because of the earrings, but while at first I found her lovely I think I am going to skip on her (and Cirno, unless I come up with the money for the international lottery) and just go for Rise. It's nice, though, to have a mix of more "standard" looking DDs (Sakuya), really unique ones (Rise), and flat-out adorable ones (Cirno). Kind of something for everyone in this Dolpa!

Looking at the pictures, she does look like her character. That's good for those who have been wishing for her!

Totally! I'm glad to see more variety of sculpts rather than the same old, same old. Tans would be great. Being able to get nice looking tan girls is one of the reason I've bought from other companies.

I totally agree I would love to see more skin tones other than normal and white. I hope sometime soon they would at least release the standard parts in other colors.

I'm entering for Sakuya/Maxima and Rise Kujikawa. They both are quite stunning. Maxima has a mature side to her and gives off a very sweet aura. I love it. Rise has that playful look with this extremely cute smile of hers. Even though she does look like a mixture between rin, SD it's still a nice vibe.

 

I love both of them.

 

 

Besides Alna is going to need some sisters very soon. :-3

Dropped by the Volks store in Torrance today to hang out with Bailey and ask questions about the Dolpa. She said that at this point, she's sure that the fans know more about the Dolpa than she does because Volks hasn't made all of their decisions yet on how things are going to be sold online and whatnot. I did see a statement somewhere that the After Event for online purchasing is still being figured out, after all. So no news yet on the availability of stuff. Bailey did say that she also hopes that Cirno will somehow be made available here too. Fingers crossed. :,D

Haha Sakuya is really a problem for me. I really like her, but I am afraid she looks like Yuki/Lily too much.

I am not a fan of her makeup, so I will probably pass. I hope no regret after the lotery.

i think quite a few of us share the same problem of she being too similar to the earlier girls even though we like sakuya.... i probably just start saving for her, whether i will go try the lottery or not is another thing I slowly thing about for this month.

Oh no. I didn't want her before... now I do! I keep telling myself she's too expensive, but I really like her face, and the size of her eyes. I don't have Yuki, Haruka or Neris, so she wouldn't be more of the same... but I have enough troubles making enough clothes for my current girls! Not too bothered by her outfit, but is that a special bust? It looks more push-up like?

 

Maybe I'll search for a similar head on the SQlabs site. :s

I'm not surprised about the earrings, Kanu's earring is the same way.

 

I'm confused about Sakuya's hands... Doesn't she have gloves? Wouldn't it make more sense to give her gloved gripping hands? Still, Volks including the gripping hands is an improvement.

Really like their take on Sakuya's outfit, but the head & hair don't really call out to me. Head is a bit plain & the hair has an long egg shaped look from the front. I'd definitely like to see more of Rise though. Her head sculpt seems a little more unique & twintails are always nice.

Many bjd owners are using glue to attach the earrings, I think here one can use it as well.

It's called "Magic glue" here and it's afaik a kind of white glue.

My Ryomou is setup just like Kanu with an earring that comes with her. And mine is NOT pierced nor will she get that.

 

Oddly enuff, my Mamimi looks like she used to have earrings but I dont think the holes go all the way into her ears. I'd have to double check them again tho.

 

But yeah, no way I'd poke holes in my girls ears to add earrings.
