A bit of less pleasant news today, apparently if you want to attach the earrings that comes with Sakuya’s default set, you will have to drill the holes yourself >:s

Anyone do the mod so that Kanu can wear her earring?

 

While I'd be vary of doing it to a limited head, it's not that scary, I promise! I had to put holes in my Obitsu Sleeping Princess head for my Lina doll. You need a small hand drill (the kind you twiddle between your fingers) and a selection of very small bits: you can get them from craft shops or modelling shops, ie. any that specialise in small scale modelling like Warhammer or model railways.

 

You choose the bit that matches the needle/pin of the earring, mark the drill point in washable ink, and very carefully drill through, aiming to the the inside of the head: best to do this with the head cap off so you can see when it comes through and at what angle. If the drill bit is small enough, then the pin of the earring forms a tight enough fit that the earring stays in without a back needed.

 

I took some pictures of when I did it to my head, I'll post them if you like in the customisation section. Now I've done it once, I am tempted to do it to all my girls. And, as always, practise on the head you like least/a non limited head!

 

WRT Sakuya: Trying desperately not to fixate on this but... is that a new bust? I am looking at my DDII L bust, and she doesn't have the same "push up" profile that Sakuya appears to have: Sakuya almost looks like her bust has been blushed! Is this what the DDIII L bust looks like?

Yep. Ryomou should have come with a small bag containing both a small, metal ring and a gray plastic "magatama" earring just like she had in the anime. Kanu also has one included with her. If you can't find your's, I can take pics of mine so you know what it looks like.

She's cute, yeah, but she really isn't one of my favorite characters.

 

If it was Remilia or Flandre, now, I would still be screaming my head off.

If the shining hearts one was Mistral or my favorite of the bunch Melty i would be all over the DD, but i kinda feel that the girls outfit is similar to the Fate one. I know their not the same and such, its just im not drawn to her like i am the Neris. I loved everything about her the moment i saw her, where as the Aerie i liked her face, or the Alna i only liked part of her, so she got rehomed and i dont want to ever part with my Neris :3

First off, let me say I love Rise... I think she's beautiful... but something about her has really been weirding me out... and I finally figured out what it was. She looks SO much like a resin SD, that it's really strange seeing her with anime style eyes. I like it, but it's strange... because I keep thinking of her like this:

 

With the new pictures I'm really liking what I see of Rise. Wish they would've put up a site for her already with a price. I imagine she'll be at least $750 (damn that $1 to 81yen exchange rate ) with shipping if they open it up to international sales.

At this point I keep flip flopping on who to choose. I'm just going to enter for both and hope I only win one. Is it possible to win two dolls?

When I first saw Rise I was turned off by her eyes, but your shopped photo is exactly how I think she should look

 

To me, they even look more like Persona style eyes than the ones Volks' has in her.

 

I think it's the lack of a pupil in Volks' eyes that make Rise look off.

Wow, Rise looks amazing with the other eyes. I think it makes a huge difference. I find her other eyes too weird, no defined pupils. She looks cute in the edit!

 

Edit: Damn, she's cute with different eyes. Wishing I hadn't seen this . . .

I love littlebearries edit of Rise !! but I can't say I don't like her original eyes bcuz I still think they look very pretty and she looks a lot like "rise" the character ^^ ~ I might try out Rina's brown eyes on her when I hopefully get her ! I think we won't be able to see those pupils of hers until we get real close-ups !!

I think you're right that she might need different ones, but I don't know if the resin-style ones are right either. She almost needs something inbetween.

Rise is really growing on me... She does look better with the eyes in Littlebearries' pic. This Dolpa is at the end of May, right? I think I could go for one, now I just have to decide between Rise and Sakuya.

I am not sure about Rise anymore for me...I loved her at first...then the eyes creeped me out. My sister calls them "roach eyes" which has now really creeped me out. If i get her, those anime eyes will have to go and I will put different animetic eyes in her.
