Dollfie Dream face ups?

So, as an owner of resin BJDs, I'm mostly familiar with the materials and what not used for the face up on these dolls. As I've heard that Vinyl stains much easier, plus it's a whole other material than resin, how does one go about painting a DD head?

 

Tips, tricks, materials used, tutorials, anything to help a DD noob!

Is there a list anywhere of people who are willing to do custom face-ups? Japanese is fine too. When I eventually get a girl, I have a very specific image in mind for her.

I don't have a list but I do know there are quite a few on the Flickr groups. I know a lot of people have had work done by Hikaru and they all look so nice. Here are some of his pics of faceups he's done:

 

 

And I just bought a faceup head from Snarecrazi. She hasn't been doing them as long as Hikaru but I was happy with the work I got done. Check hers here:

I agree that Hikaru would be an excellent choice to redo the Eva girls.

 

As for your debating the S-bust for Rei, that depends on if you want to stay true to the anime or not. If so, then you need to stick with the M-bust in my opinion. Almost every shot of Rei in a plugsuit shows a bit more up top than an S-bust provides. If anything, I think Rei is a larger than Asuka. Maybe *she* would make a better S-bust.

 

But this is just my opinion and it all depends on your likes/dislikes.

Sort of a related question, how are the face-ups that are done by Volks applied / sealed? Is it machine-done or hand-done? Have you ever gotten a limited DD with an error on the face-up? So far all the photos I've seen of Volk's DDs or limited DDs look exactly the same.

 

Reading about Halcyon dealing with Euphie's stain on the face worried me. I'd be scared to have that happen on a limited DD face. >.

 

My only experience is with resin face-ups, which can be delicate.

I don't know the details of how the factory faceups are done, but they have always been perfect. I have seen one post on figure.fm by Hololo. He found a scratch on his Sasara and Volks sent him a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement also had a scratch.

Bad dusts collect on window blinds, fans (this includes your computer's ventilation fan), old air conditioning machines, etc.

 

But, worry no further - I bought Swiffer Dusters to clean my entire work place!

I feel bad for Hololo. Hopefully he (or she?) was able to clear up the issue with Volks.

 

A scratch is WAY worse than a stain. Stains can be treated, but a scratch is a different story. The doll's face will have to be reshaped to get rid of the scratch, which may or may not be for the better.

Those are some lovely pics though.

Hololo has some fancy after market bust pieces and shows them off sometimes. Some of his photos are so artistic and well planned out. A lot are on the ecchi side, but are still very lovely.

I also do faceups as well... but I've only done 2 so far!

I love the white skin one. She is so beautiful! The colors really stand out the white skin.

With the second one I was going for a bit... floofier girly look? I think it's a throwback from doing resin bjd faceups, but more kiddie/squishy/adorable cute = more blush XD

I'm not sure... I've really wanted to give some alternate expressions a go, so perhaps I will try the tsundere type.... I also want to try make a worried looking faceup... I think it might be disgustingly cute XD
