Averis Posted April 2, 2012 It's April and in Japan this is the traditional time for Hanami. My two girls wanted to celebrate and have a picnic near some cherry blossoms. Of course they also wore their traditional kimonos. I took a couple pictures to share with everyone. Rika is looking cute as always. Yuri has a basket of food. As they look for a place to sit, they show off their decorative obi. I think Yuri is ready to eat. Thanks for looking.

Kumi Posted April 2, 2012 Neris and Aerie Great photos, and Your girls are sooo cute... And where did You get such pretty kimonos for Your cute girls? ^_^ PS. TV serving as backdrop is a great idea, but I'd use different light. Flash is too hard (harsh?) to simulate outdoor lighting, but with a white transparent umbrella... hmmm, it might work better. Too bad I don't have time now for some tests... orz
baldylox Posted April 2, 2012 FINALLY!!! I finally get to see the two kimonos you got from Anne soooo long ago! But it was worth the wait! They look great on your two girls! The colors and patterns are so nice! I had forgotten how cool the obi's were for those two. You made some good choices with the kimono fabrics. Thanks for sharing these pics of Yuri and Rika. Nice backdrop and even nicer use of the kimonos! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Averis Posted April 2, 2012 Wow, thanks everyone. You're all too kind. I'm glad you like them. Too bad I don't have time now for some tests... orz They were from Anne (as you probably saw from baldylox's reply). Yeah, I know my photography and lighting are still lacking. I actually am using a defusing umbrella. I even pointed it to the ceiling and had a reflector on the other side. What I think I needed was something to reflect from below them or just more than one flash. I don't have any other lighting to work with. But, things to keep in mind for next time. FINALLY!!! Hehe, thank you, sir. I would have liked to take full-body shots, but (as Kumi pointed out) the TV wasn't tall enough for that. This was really an experiment. But, yes, the kimonos really worked out well and fit their looks as I had hoped. Maybe I can take more pictures once I get better at lighting. :
OtakuDepot Posted April 2, 2012 Rika and Yuri look really fantastic! The kimono's look very nice on them and seem to even match their eyes. Great idea using the TV image for a background, it really helps fit the mood.
