Aichan Posted March 21, 2011 Hi, I am so glad I found this forum. I had wanted a DD for awhile but was always sort of iffy because she seemed so delicate compared to my resin bjds. I did not want to break her because I tend to be clumsy. But I took the plunge and bought one on the second hand market so I could customize her . About me: Anyhow my name is Astrid and I put on CCBJD.org BJD convention last year in California ( where Dollfies and all dolls were welcomed!) I run my local BJD group as well but am moving soon ( next couple of months) so I am passing that torch along, and I sew and sell for my dolls at grave-designs.com . I also write Young Adult and Childrens stories ( link is on my sewing site if you want to peek) Anyhow thanks for creating this forum now I am off to the help section! http://www.grave-designs.com
Halcyon Posted March 21, 2011 Greetings, A warm welcome to you, Astrid! I checked your CCBJD.org site, and the first thing on my mind was PINK, . Anyways, it's great that you could join us. The site is still small, so free feel to share your opinion and feedback. Best, Gue H. Aichan Posted March 21, 2011 Heh yes, I put enough pink in the site to make anyone barf! I know I went overboard could not help it though. I was possessed. Thank you for your welcome. http://www.grave-designs.com
mitsuki Posted March 22, 2011 Welcome, Astrid! I have the opposite feeling about resin. I am worried about it being fragile and susceptible to UV damage, so I have vinyl DDs instead. I love pink and blue, so I love your CCBJD.org design. Your sewing site is impressive! You have a lot of elaborate outfits. I hope you like it here. I can't wait to see your new custom girl! baldylox Posted March 22, 2011 Welcome aboard! It's nice to have another resin person adopt a Dollfie! I hope you have fun making the jump to vinyl! Feel free to ask any questions you may have. there are loads of friendly people here who have a great wealth of knowledge and are happy to share. Hopefully we can see some pics when you are ready with your girl! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Aichan Posted March 22, 2011 Thank you for the warm welcome everyone. It will be a little bit before I can post any pics of her since she is in peices right now. I posted in the Newbie area about it with pics. I like how the DDs are light but still large. My large resin bjds tend to get heavy and that takes away from their enjoyment for me. But I guess both types have their delicate points. Yay another writer!Point me to your writing here on pm ( still reading the rules so I dont want to get anyone in trouble because I didnt read something) http://www.grave-designs.com

Aichan Posted March 23, 2011 HI and thanks so much for the additional welcomes, well dont expect to much! I am just barely starting to look at the types of heads I cant decide betweent the HDD 01 0r 03 for my girl. But I guess I should make a choice soon . I am sorry to say as fair as customizing it might be something boring like Chi from Chobbits . I know boring. Fru-- I got your PM thank you. cant write back yet but when I can we should talk more! http://www.grave-designs.com
mitsuki Posted March 23, 2011 I love Chii! Your idea is fantastic! I would love to see a DD Chii.
baldylox Posted March 23, 2011 But I guess I should make a choice soon . I am sorry to say as fair as customizing it might be something boring like Chi from Chobbits . I know boring. How is a DD version of Chii boring?? I love Chii! I saw the anime a few years ago and it was excellent. And I got the two big Omnibus manga editions for Christmas and just finished reading those. Again, I love the series. If you do Chii, would you be making her clothes? Which outfit would you like to see on her the most? I know there are plenty of wigs that would look great for her character out there. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be nice! Aichan Posted March 23, 2011 Thanks guys, I guess aftering being buffeted by the winds of 'taki haters' and 'been there done that' and thats so old' attiudes I am a little self depreciating and reserved with my enthusiam for anything Japanese. I thought it was a cute anime too ( although I wished the s/e/x/ themes were a little mild) I loved all of Chi's and Freya;s outfits. Yes I would be making her outfits. I might start with something simple like this http://www.anime-wallpapers.ws/anime/chobits/chobits-3.jpg Since I am new to sewing for DD I want to make sure I can get around the diffrent from BJD measurements. DDs have such tiny waists but large hips so that takes getting used to. http://www.grave-designs.com
baldylox Posted March 23, 2011 I'm sorry to hear that you've heard such things before. I hope you can feel more at ease here with people who enjoy anime and all things Japanese! That outfit you linked to is perfect! It's the one I had in mind when I read your first comment about it. Her Pastry/Cake Shop work clothes are too cool. I love that set! (Thanks for the link too, I so saved that for my desktop wallpaper!) That's really neat that you are going to make the clothes yourself. I know zero about sewing and have only made one shirt with a LOT of help and it was really difficult. So I know that outfit you pictured won't be easy by any means. I do hope it works out well for you as I'd love to see it on a custom Chii DD. Keep us updated on your progress if you don't mind!
