A new camera~

Today I got the first point and shoot I've ever purchased for myself. 0_0 I thought it would be nice to have while we're in Japan since it's a lot smaller than my SLR and I'm all about space savings for this trip.

 

So I had to test it out on something! What better subject than my girls? I was fiddling with the settings and seeing how well it worked without flash. As expected the high ISO is grainy but what can I expect for a sub $200 camera?

 

For those who wanna know it's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH25 and so far I'm liking it - ON WITH THE SHOW~

 

First a shot with flash! And a reveal of Saber sporting a very different wig!

 

Now for no flash. This point and shoot easily picks up where the doll's face is which is actually really handy - it means it'll catch exactly what I want in focus in a shot!

Not too good with judging photo quality. As long as you are not going to blow it up on a 8.5x11 print it should be ok. XD

Great pictures for a point and shoot. As you mentioned, there is a little noise in the darker areas of some of them, but nothing too bad.

 

What's the specs on this camera?

Ooh, I think this is the first time you've posted Asuka in the Real Carrot wig--or if not the first, one of what seems to be currently the very few. Looks fabulous! I'm digging Lily's new medieval princess hair, too.

 

My mom's got a Lumix and loves it. I've played with it a little, and it seems to allow more control than my Canon. I'm also glad to hear the face select works the way it should on your camera--mine only seems to pick up DD faces half the time, and the other half it chooses to focus on Agatha's cleavage.

What a powerful little P&S! They've really come a long way... It looks like with a little editing, you could really get some amazing photos. I know on PSP there's a feature called "edge preserving smooth" which I use all the time, it does wonders for reducing (or eliminating) graininess without making the photo blurry.

 

(Also, the wig on Maddie? SUPER-CUTE!)

These look pretty good; if you can reduce the noise they'll be even better~ I'm glad you're happy with your new camera. n_n

I think with good light it works with a lot less noise - at 16MP (I set it down to 5MP) I can blow them up fairly large but none of these would work at large sizes.

I'm not super sure of all the specs, the only one that really mattered to me was 8x optical zoom and the Leica brand. Also it was well reviewed by CNet which I took into account. ^_^

Yeah, other than our dollmeet photos Asuka hasn't gotten a whole lot of facetime on our forums. I think it's because she's been waiting for Rei to come home. And yeah, i'm really impressed with the face tracking on my DD's! It makes photographing them a lot easier, especially since I'm lazy.

Yeah I'll have to play around in photoshop a bit with some of these to see what I can do. There's also a TON of features in my camera I haven't even gotten to play with yet~ And I'll make sure to let miss librarian Maddie know you like her new 'do!

I will have to take some shots in much more favourable light and then we'll have less noise. I was just too excited and I couldn't wait any longer so night-photos in my bedroom was the result. XD

I'm really happy I was able to get Saber Lily. She was the reason I decided to start into the DD hobby!

Thanks for sharing these test shots of your girls with your new camera. Seems like the pictures you captured with it has less noise than what my point and shoot usually has in the pictures I take. Might be something for me to consider if I ever get around to getting a new camera.

 

Also Saber looks extra gorgeous in her new wig.
