There is a hobby shop in Tucson that had a few M4/M16 variants on the shelves, but, that was last year, haven't been there in a long time...

Has anyone heard any other communication updates from SQLab lately? I ordered a doll back in the December 2013 preorder period and also some parts in early 2014, but it seems like people were still having issues with communication as of recent. There's not been a lot of talk lately about it.

 

I've got the Navi head and the DG61 body. I bought the leg parts during the second more recent ordering period and had some issues. They weren't drilled right and there was a thin spot on them. The drilling would not let the s-hook go into the leg like it was suppose to. The seams are kind of bad as well on the legs. I let them know and send them a video to try to explain the problem. They shipped me new leg parts out without really any communication and those worked great so all is well.

 

The Navi btw came with free eyes. The SQlab eyes are pretty nice!

Is it possible to order just a SQ Lab anime head by itself to fit a resin body (with hole for S hook, etc)? I don't see this option stated on their page so just wondering if anyone here has before.

 

I was thinking of getting a head to put on another brand of resin body.

Of course You can order just the head.

And then use the existing peg-hole and put the elastic through it.

Just like using a DD head on a strung body - above are the insides of a such DD head, photographed by Mitsuki

It's maybe a little more complicated than in other resin heads, where the whole hook can go through,

but not a big problem.

Navi is different - she's from the beginning a "classic" ball jointed doll with strung parts.

More a "SD" than "DD" doll. Thus, the neck part is designed to use the s-hook and the elastic.

 

The "SQ-DD" heads are meant for the DD body with the neck peg.

You're right, the best way is to ask if they can make the S-hook socket for it.

Even if not, You can use the elastic anyway.

Hiyo! been trying to get ahold of an sqlab head but communication apparently isnt there to the dealers. Think pink informed me that they arnt replying to them and will not sell anything from them untill the communication is back. Hoping to buy a miyuki is it just better to buy from there yahoo japan shop?

I think it's better to buy from YJA. Too bad they don't have eyes listed on there, I love the one pair of SQ lab eyes I have.

I just ordered a real skin color Misty head from YJA using a proxy. I'm going to put it on a Sadol Honey63 body. Hopefully the colors match ok.

Just orderd SQlab ren! very excited ! Also thinking of putting her on a resin body shes normal skin i heard dollfies go good with resinsoul and AOD normal skin can anyone confirm this x.x?

I really love the SQ Lab heads, especially Misty~ *___* ♥ I just wish they were vinyl instead of resin... I don't really care for their bodies (I need a doll with a waist joint) and I wonder if putting a resin head on a vinyl body would make the doll too top-heavy... :S

 

Those of you who have SQ Lab heads on DD bodies, how do you feel about them? Are they different from your DDs in terms of handling, posing etc? I would really appreciate it if you could share your experiences. ^^

There's no problem of the resin head being too heavy... I have an SQ head on an Obitsu50 body (not DD but still vinyl), and I like it. She has a Greyforce neck adapter so the range of motion is great. The posing and handling is what you would expect from an Obitsu 50. With the neck adapter, the head comes off more easily than a DD head on a DD body, though.

I see, it's good to know that the resin head doesn't pose any problems in the doll's balance. :3 Now I just need to decide if the difference in texture would bother me or not... generally I struggle with painting my resin dolls and don't like it that much, but I really enjoyed painting my Dollfie Dream (it felt like the brush just glides on vinyl). Then again, SQ Lab has some really pretty head sculpts... I suppose we'll see, I have to think about this. xD

No, it is everyone - dealers too. The only dealers that seem to get through are TheLittleGarden.

There is an "unscrew-rescrew" that works with the Dollfie Dream heads, but those are vinyl heads and the material thickness at the base of the neck may be quite less than it is with resin heads.

The problem with trying this one with your resin head is the screw you're undoing may not be long enough.

 

I've got another tutorial which is a little more technically challenging. I don't recommend it often but read it over and see what you think. It involves replacing the screw with a bolt and nut assembly. The bolt can be any length to accommodate a thicker resin head.

I took a chance and picked up this girlie. :> I was really unsure about the SQ-Lab body and I guess I have learned that those worries were warranted. Man, these knees are a disaster. Has anyone tried wiring the body? They flop out so much it isn't even funny.

 

I used to think Delfs were wobbly, this body makes them look like nothin'.

 

 

On a more positive note, she's super cute! I really wanna change her eyes. I'm feeling like I may wanna drown her in pink, but I'm undecided. I can't decide a name either. Anyone got any ideas?

Which version of the body is that? I was thinking of getting one (somehow) but I'm spoilt by DD posability, so it sounds like I'd be unhappy with the knees too.

And this is the SG53? I think that's what it is called. So the smaller ver.. I've owned a lot of resin bodies, and a lot of them girls. This body is awful. It may be literally one of the worst I've handled....x.x

 

I need to do something to it, wire it, whatever. It needs serious help with posing. I have kips in it and that's not enough to save it! D:
