XOHimitsuOX Posted April 13, 2012 (edited) Inspired from the how to guide to make a DD Compilation Book. I decided to make a DD size manga my way First I made a template in inkscape for importing manga pages and covers, then printed it out on both sides of the pages. Here's the One Piece pages, print at the center and you should be fine. Print pages 1, 3, 5. Then feed the pages back and print pages 2, 4, 6 http://www.mediafire.com/?c4e72b0olb7cqj7 Here's the printout ready to be cut. I already cut the cover. Pages were printed on normal paper and the cover was printed on matt high grade paper IMGP6446 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr Boring task of cutting IMGP6451 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr IMGP6454 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr Stack of pages in order IMGP6455 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr Pasting a 2mm line of glue using scraps of paper as a guide IMGP6457 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr Placing the page to stick IMGP6459 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr Firmly pressing the pages together IMGP6460 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr Repeat until all pages are glued together. Clamp them and wait til dry. I did it this way as it made the spine stronger. IMGP6461 by XOHimitsuOX, on Flickr Paste a dollop of glue on the spine. Jezrah Posted April 13, 2012 Awesome thanks for the tutorial. I'll have to give it a try
Kumi Posted April 13, 2012 Awesome I think the hardest part is to make the two-sided print right, to make sure You have correct pages on both sides I'll repeat here what I said in photo-randoms about gluing the pages on spine only, because gluing all pages separately is a very long and laborious task. I glued the spine only in full-size books and it worked, so here it should too. But You have to use a good glue and the spine should be dented across to give better grip for the glue. --v---v---v---v-- - something like this. You can make it using knife or even a small saw. I had a special book-binding glue at that time but I don't know, what kind may be available in Your country. The glue after setting was transparent and remained elastic. aaircrash Posted April 13, 2012 The final product looks great! Thank-you for the tutorial Wishing Uzuki Shimamura, Rin Shibuya Owning Miriam (Smart Doll Mirai), Alexia (DDS Marisa Kirisame)
XOHimitsuOX Posted April 13, 2012 @Jezrah: No problem. @kumi: Thanks, it's not really hard, just tedious doing the double sided pages. Odd pages go left to right, top to bottom, and even pages go right to let, top to bottom. @aaircrash: Thanks
PrettyCranium Posted April 13, 2012 Wow, that's amazing! I would love to make these for my girls, but I lack the patience. Maybe I should just try it. Did you download the pages or something?
XOHimitsuOX Posted April 13, 2012 @PrettyCranium: Yeap download raw manga and imported it to my inkscape template. I've uploaded the One Piece pages if want to try it out.

PlasticFantastic Posted April 14, 2012 Wow this is awesome! Your tutorial is really professionally done! It's easy to follow and your step by step is clear. ^_^ I don't know if I'd have the skill to do the double sided print the way you did.. And I don't know if I'd have the patience to glue it but what a nice product when finished! Maybe I'll have to un-lazy and try this at some point. still_doll+vk Posted May 17, 2012 I think I'll be trying that, but the hardest part is at the first part, where you have to print the manga pages. Is it okay if the manga is not One-piece? you are born not because you have a purpose in this world, you are born because you are special to someone! Kumi Posted May 17, 2012 Is it okay if the manga is not One-piece? No, it's not. Under any cirbleepstances You shouldn't use other title. It will result in warping the space, global warming and curdling the dairy (oh the horror )

Talolili Posted May 26, 2012 Is it okay if the manga is not One-piece? No, it's not. Under any cirbleepstances You shouldn't use other title.
