Hello from the UK~

I happened upon this place after a google search and thought it might be fun to join in!

 

You may or may not have seen me on other doll communities, I've been around a while, I'm a long term lover of Dollfie Dream's. I became a fan when the ddII was only just released. Back then, they were rather rare outside of Japan and pretty much unobtainable for me so I admired them on the web only.

 

In October 2005, I finally got my first Dollfie Dream, a Volks DD Yashiro Kasumi, I named her Lilly. She came without her wig or outfit, but at a bargain price. Back then DD popularity outside Japan was low so they were CHEAP on the second hand market.

 

I have had many DD's over the years but for one reason or another, I have had to sell them on at times, but I have always had Lilly even to this day. Lilly is one doll I will never sell, she's very precious to me. At one point I left the hobby completely and it stayed like that until about a week ago where my interest has been piqued again.

 

I'm looking to get back into the hobby and community, this seemed like a perfect place to start ^^

Oh, wow, hello Aquilla! I too remember when you were more active on various sites like Figure.fm and DoA. I do vaguely recall seeing a blog post of yours before you vanished explaining why you were exasperated with the DD hobby at the time, so I'm glad to see that it wasn't a permanent effect.

 

Anyway, welcome to our little forum. We're fairly "sunshine and rainbows", as Scripple puts it, save for, well, Scripple. *Shot for obnoxiousness*

Welcome aboard! I know you from FFM for sure and enjoyed your pics there. I really like the girl in your avatar, is that Lilly?

 

It's great to hear you are interested in the hobby again. I used collect Star Wars toys and I had to take breaks from that quite a few times. So I know how it goes in hobbies, you sometimes need a break in order to get recharged and ready to get back on your feet with it again.

 

I hope we see more of you and Lilly here in the near future.

I am really glad you are back in the hobby: your blog had so much information for me when I got my first DD. I am the very lucky person who adopted your Marya last year. I am taking good care of her! I still only have two DDs, and I assure you she is treasured! Welcome to the forum, I'll bring Marya (Chandra) to the UK meet we're planning.

Hi Till Troll, I never imagined that I'd be speaking to the person who brought Marya. I love the name you've given her, it's very nice. I'd love to see a picture of her if you have any?

 

MyuMyu, I could never get rid of Lilly, she was the first dd I seriously longed for and I thought I'd never be able to get on, so I was thrilled when the opportunity came up. Because it was such an emotional purchase, she's extremely precious to me and I believe she always will be ^.^

Marya will feature in a halter neck pattern tutorial I am /still/ working on >.< Before she arrived I had planned to give her a new face, but I fell in love with her gentle looks. Hopefully I'll get those pictures up soon so you can see her.

That would be awesome ^^ Every doll I've sold before I've never seen or known what happened to them after the sale.

@.@ I am so glad you came here then! When I won Marya I posted about it here in my own intro post, having been a lurker before. I also wondered if you were watching this site then, and kinda hoped you'd see it one day and know Marya is treasured. I've been lax in posting my girls on the site due to work for nearly a year, I shall have to make up for it now!

Hello nice to see another face from the UK here even if you are at the other end of the country.

I know what work can be like, it's largely the reason why I stopped playing with my dolls altogether 2 years ago. Thankfully for me everything has settled now and I have the time for a hobby and community again.
